It is very fun with 2 people. I just played 5 games with my friend 1v1 and it was a blast.

What age is this for. Image shows 8+ Features says 10+ Information states 3+ which is it?

I would say minimum of 8... 10 more suited. Lots of fiddly bits. Definitely not within 3yo ability from memory.

how long does a game last?

Probably 60-90 mins. Longer on the first couple as you learn the rules quicker once everyone is more adept. Great game though.

Is "small world of warcraft" a completely stand alone game, or an expansion kit for another game? the reviews are confusing! thanks.

This is a complete stand alone game, not an expansion. It may be possible to use certain features of it (the races for example) to expand other small world games.
