ABUS Padlock 82TI/70 TITALIUM - Hardened Steel Shackle, Security Level 6

Great looking lightweight (175g) lock in the Titalium line from Abus. The lock operates easily with a satisfying click and can be locked without key. Security: physically the lock is on the more secure side with a 12mm hardened shackle and thick lock body. Key parts of the body are either very thick or are reinforced with a hardened steel bolt. The core is a 5 pin core with tight tolerances, giving it some resistance against lock picking attacks. However, the lock is shim-able (see attached photograph), but the tight tolerances on the shackle bolt mean that a shimming attack takes a minute or more to execute. Overall a good lock at a good price.

It's not going to be pried, bumped or hammered off. Grinding, sawing and and picking are an option, but who's going to do that outside a coffee shop with the bike? Yes, there are much more capable, heavy and expensive locks. For your Panigale outside Harrods, not for you. For anything else, anywhere else, for a short stop, good enough.

OK for gate but could really have done with same padlock with a bigger area to put hasp through. As this doen't have to come on and off often will be fine, but a bid of a fiddle if you have to do every day or more.

Bought this for my gate and although it was a bit smaller than I expected, it is good quality and easy to lock. A bit pricey but its better buying 1 good lock than 5 rubbish locks that get stuck (so I have found) so take the hit and buy this lock as you will not regret it :-)

Very well made although this company expect anything else ? Extremely strong and well made although very light from the Titalium it’s made from and the clasp is well protected from bolt cutters. Although it’s smaller then I imagined but does the job for me.

ABUS 82TI/70 pictures above and drawing shows a square block lock 20mm across...WRONG! See the pic attached ,lock is oval, 16mm thick at the bolt loacation, and the shackle(bolt) is 12mm(very good by the way) leaving just 2mm each side to protect the shackle. 2mm!! Even a portable dremel would cut it. I dont know how hard titalium is, but 2mm with a cold chisel and normal hammer, 2 bangs and lock is off. I give it 3 stars ONLY for the hardened shackle and the name may deter some thieves , it is good for a toolbox or garden shed you keep worthless stuff in, especially if you use the cheapest hasp, and you not really bothered but fear a smaller lock will be cropped. I would file this as deterrent only. Abus take note if it was square like the drawing it would have not returned it!

Really sturdy lock this one, nice weight to It and looks the part. Used on a garden shed and highly recommended

The lock was purchased in December 2023 and after the rather wet winter now in May 2024 it has completely seized up. Despite the use of WD40 and PB blaster it will not open and after I finally got the key into the lock could not be removed. On cutting the lock off with an angle grinder (incredibly easy) it is full of rust. I don't know what has happened to ABUS "quality", this is total rubbish.

Piccolo leggero ma la sensazione che trasmette e di un lucchetto robusto e sicuro. Lo sto usando per bloccare la bicicletta con una catena ad una rastelliera.

Pas mal a voir a l'usage. Bon produit

At the price point, this is an acceptable lock. The construction is solid and it has decent pick resistance which will prevent low skill raking attacks and average picking.
