Gedeo 766506US 30 ml Gilding Wax, Empire Gold, 5.5 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm

Bought to pick out wording on a steel beam that we had personalised for the house. Worked really well. Since used for Christmas decorations too and also great. Lovely colour, not a bright yellow. A tiny bit goes a long way, excellent coverage. It dries quickly and lasts, no sign of fading after almost 2 years.

I was refurbishing an antique barometer and it was extremely challenging due to the tarnishing and rust spots. I cleaned it all with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, then gilded with product (3 coats, dry and buff in between) then sealing with clear mod podge. This product is excellent and far far easier to use than gold leaf.

When I have used guilding wax before l have contrived to mix my own. Never again this product is incredible, fantastic and wonderful to use and apply. The finish is stunning.

It can loose the aspect of its finish if it is often used...on a knob for instance. It lasted me a year on the places where I used the knob...The finish colour and aspect is nice though.

This product is wonderful and, once you get used to using it, you can create beautiful things, bringing an added dimension to your papercrafts and more.It does take a bit of getting used to, much like anything when you try it out for the first time, so stick with it and you will find your flow with the amount of product to use and the right amount of pressure to apply. It can become quite addictive too - you'll want to gild everything, lol.A little goes a very long way so use sparingly on the pad of your finger (I find my ring finger is best because I tend not to press too hard) unless, of course, you are going for a thick heavy look. I have also mixed gold and silver together to create varying shades from an antique silver look to a bronze so again, you can get creative with mixing too.This pot will last forever - I cannot anticipate when I will need another one, so it's great value for money.

Have purchased this gilding wax in this colour 3 times now! I love the colour and love the effect! You can literally apply it to everything and it adds an extra beautiful element. It doesn't wash off. I've used it on furniture, metal stair railings, ceramics, light fittings, plaster, anything I fancy adding gold to! Easy to apply, I can't recommend it enough. Lovely thick consistency that went on with a brush & a small ball of material for the larger areas perfectly & as expected.
