UNIKA MitreBond Superglue & Aerosol Activator – Industrial Strength, Fast-Setting, High Viscosity, Dries Clear – Strong Bond for Wood, MDF, Plastic, Metal, Ceramic, Glass and more

I used the UNIKA MitreBond Superglue with the aerosol activator for a few quick fix jobs and it worked brilliantly. The bond is almost instant once the activator is sprayed, which saved a lot of time holding pieces together. It created a strong, clean join and felt very secure once set. Ideal for fast, reliable bonding—definitely a product I’ll keep handy.

This glue is great for all sorts of bonding jobs where a near instant bond is required. On the market by several brand names, it was originally marketed as glue for making wooden picture/photo frames. And it serves that purpose very well, producing a bond within seconds. The product is simply a larger than normal container of superglue or CA as it is also called, with an activator sprayed on one of the surfaces and the glue spread on the other. It just speeds up the bonding time so if you want a little more time to make the bond you can omit the activator (called kicker in the USA) without any adverse effect on the strength of the bond. I use superglue for model making, usually wood. I sometimes use it in conjunction with wood glue which gives me a near instant bond and in addition greater bond strength when the wood glue has set. Be aware that superglue has a limited shelf life but the activator lasts for a very long time. So when the glue has reached its use by date, just buy a tube of superglue which makes a worthwhile cost saving.

Excellent product for an excellent price. Used this for some skirting and it took almost instantly and held perfectly. It’s very easy to use, glue on one piece, activator on the other and then just hold the pieces together for a few seconds and that’s it. Very versatile and can be used for most wood joints. As a note it does go off very quickly so make sure you’re ready with the pieces you are sticking together.

Annoyingly I have to buy this stuff as I have a use for it, but the lids will eventually get stuck up with glue and end up throwing half the glue away, would love to buy the activator separately as this would help me use more of the glue. Other than that, it sticks solid, nothing is pulling it apart.

Always use this brand not only due to being good quality glue but most importantly there is a metal spike within the lid that keeps the hole clear in the bottle every time you screw it back on, this maintains the bottles readiness and no blockages in the spout next time you need it.

Easy to use when aligning parts (slightly sticky) then the activator spray makes it proper solid. Repaired quite a few plastic parts that regular superglue couldn’t. Nice smell too, just don’t do a Zammo. Jackie won’t be pleased.

Whilst mitrebond type glue products where originally sold for assembling upvc frames this stuff can be used just about anywhere you might use conventional super glue. The bond created also seems to be typically much stronger, and it is also possible to spray the activator on to the item after gluing instead. This allows you time to position your items well, not apply excessively, and then get a very fast, predictable set at the exact moment it is required. Generally it is found over a number of years stored away that most superglues will set in the bottle after it has been opened. So if it has not been used in a while remember to check and inspect occasionally.
