Ambitious Lightweight Folding Pocket Knife, PlainEdge

I like Spyderco. Bought my first one in 1982. I've been collecting and using knives for over 65 years. In that time I've gathered a couple...Hundred. And of that bunch there's five Spydercos. Now this little guy is not too big. Not too small. Easy to carry. Easy to use. Reminds me of a "snubnose" Tenacious model. Blade design has mass but not overbearing. I'm not Jim Bowie, and don't need a foot long knife. This little guy gets the job done without terrorizing uneducated people around you. Sharp out of the box. Excellent quality at an affordable price. Like I said in the title, short and sweet.

I went Spyder-crazy recently and now own 12, ranging from the Bug up to the Shaman, and this is still something I’m excited and happy to own. Build quality is solid, ergonomics are commendable, and the blade geometry is super slicey, so that it’ll stay an effective cutter despite using 8Cr13MoV. And I don’t need to feel bad if it takes some hits! I ordered this specifically to get an idea of whether I’d like the Lil’ Native, and it’s almost exactly the same size and vibe. Absolutely worth getting this first if you’re on the fence about dropping quadruple the Ambitious’ price tag on the Lil’ Native! …do consider the Lil’ Native, though - that absolutely MELTS into the hand.

I needed a new knife after I accidentally left my kershaw speed cryo in my carry on. Couldn’t miss the flight obviously so with the TSA it stayed. This size has been great for my fanny pack, and pocket carry. Good clip, easy to open and fantastic ergonomics. The handle has a nice, grippy texture, blade has been sharp and holds an edge well after tackling boxes, kindling, apples, rope, etc. My first spyderco product, but I’m very pleased with it as a budget friendly offering and will likely order one of their more premium offerings in the near future!

Out of all of my knives this one has become my favorite. It compares in size to my Spyderco Dragonfly 2 but I like the Ambitious LW better. It seems to fit my hand better and opens and closes easily with no fumbling around.

The Spiderco trademark round hole to open makes them my personal favorite, and I also prefer the inside LinerLock release system, and edge that goes clear to the handle. It hasn't quickly dulled, even on fiberglass-reinforced packing tape or cardboard. Because of the short length of this knife, it's a little more difficult to open than my others, though. It's probably just that square corner that need to wear a little. The clip seems much tighter than my other Spiderco knives, maybe because this one is chrome plated, and not stainless. The handle is not the spider-web looking one in the ad photo, but still non-slip and lightweight. Didn't really need it, but at a sale price, it still earned a spot as my EDC knife. Regrettably, it will someday embarrass my wife at the next steakhouse that gives me a dull knife, just won't be quite so obvious.

Great little knife easy to carry everywhere very sharp cuts fishing line and cleans fish easily anything that you need a extremely sharp blade for. Probably not the toughest steel though I would not try to split wood with it or anything crazy like that but it is very sharp.

What the heck spyderco. Can you guys please set the blades to open with a finger flick out of the box? I own several spyderco knives going back the original square edged stainless steel scaled knives from seki japan. These newer ones you almost need a tool to open. Very disappointing. Wont buy anymore.
