Stanley FMHT0-62688 Fatmax Stubby Ratchet Screw Driver

I wondered why the bit holder kept falling out, very frustrating! After looking into the mechanism of the screwdriver, there is a small ball bearing with a tensioning surclip that would mate with the notches on the bit holder. This appeared to be dislodged, to the bearing was not making contact with the bit. After pushing down on the black surclip inside, it released the bearing and it protrudes to make a positive contact with the bit holder, securing it.So, if your bits are falling out... check if the bearing is protruding or not. Chances are that if you push the ring down, it should stick out enough to make contact with it. This is what i figured, and it has not caused any problems at all. Lovely :)The ratcheting mechanism is very positive with the standard left, right and fixed positions for control of your screws.The spare bits are stored in the handle, which is useful to change bits without losing them. Metal construction for the most of it, also considered heavy for the size, but feels very durable. I'm happy.

This is a handy little tool.I would recommend going for the longer version but you can easily put a longer bit holder into it

The ratcheting mechanism isn't smooth enough. Everything else is very good made. The small bearing keeps the extension or the bits very well. Also the extension is magnetic. Rubber on the handle is nice and comfortable. The cap surface is made from metal.

Good that bits are stored in handle - easy to twist off the cap to access them but not so easy to pull them out of their individual retainer slots on the reverse of cap. Bits fit well into magnetic bit holder but bit holder is very hard to push/pull in or out of the rest of the handle (which you rarely need to do, only in tight spots). Ratchet action is wonderful, numerous of clicks per handle twist with a quiet and smooth feel. Rubberised handle easy to grip well and quite comfortable for its size. Very pleased overall for the price.

ive had many of the plastic versions over the years and they relied on your finger strength to push and turn this is far superior as the weight of the metal core means you don't need to push as hard when you are using it. the handle is good to grip but maybe could have been a cm longer to store longer bits but its great to use

I have been on the look out for a good stubby for those hard to reach jobs. This is perfect and the ratchet makes life a lot easier too.

OK. I admit it. I really like ratchet drivers; and I particularly like Stanley tools. This one is great for those times when you need to work in a limited space. Love the fact that there various driver bits are contained inside the handle too.

It’s small but works great. I have a couple so I can always find one.
