The cables are never gold rated as can be cut easily. They are only an extra deterrent for your saddle, accessories or unsecured wheel to make an opportunist thieves' job harder or to put them off completely. It is always recommended NEVER to rely on the cable to attached the bike securely. Use the main lock to attach the back wheel and frame to a secure object and then loop the cable through the front wheel and back to the lock before locking. (May not be long enough to reach depending on bike - sometimes two are recommended) . I just use mine for the back wheel, saddle plus battery (which already has a key locking it to frame) to make it slightly harder for anyone to try and nick my saddle, battery or electric motor/back wheel. I have another u lock (Kryptonite Series 2 Silver Sold Secure) and cable for front wheel as it's an electric folding bike and someone could break it in half quite easily or even just unscrew ONE small bolt with a common tool and make off with half my bike!!! Neither this cable nor Kryptonite cable have ANY rating on sold secure website - not even bronze. I'd only really trust them to secure an item like a helmet that no one would go out the way to steal. For me they are just a display item interlocking everything to make the task of stealing a bit more unpleasant and time consuming.
