Had our lamps nearly 3 years now. Amazing for the price. Only had to replace the bulb once!

I bought this product for around £25 to replace an expensive UK made Mathmos lava lamp that developed a fault whereby the bulb became firmly wedged into its socket and would not budge. Bizarrely, I was able to sell it on via eBay for very little less than it would have cost new. Somewhat unwilling to drop another eighty odd pounds on another Mathmos, I opted for this cheaper model, which is not UK made, and certainly comes in less luxurious packaging. In the hand, it does feel a little more cheaply made and a bit less of a solid item, although the basic concept of a base containing a heat generating bulb, a separate bottle of lava which sits into the base, and a cap on the top, is the same. Given that this lava lamp is way less than half the price of a Mathmos, I can understand and forgive the difference. In use, it has been reliable and attractive. Once the lava has warmed up, it flows up and down as it should, although I don't think it flows with quite the same slow gloopy looking grace as a Mathmos lamp does. This one I think flows a little faster and generates smaller sections of lava. On the whole, this product is pretty well made and is good value for money. I've had it for months and it has been totally reliable. It is not quite the same luxurious product as a Mathmos lamp, but has been more reliable and longer lived, and for a much lower price!

The lamp is great, the only problem being that I received 4 lamps instead of 1. Tried to contact through order details to send the extra 3 back but can’t find a link.

This lamp was bought as a birthday gift for someone and stopped working after around a month of usage. Contacted manufacturer - that was a bit of a faff - who responded with trouble shooting ideas, that we had tried but tried again to no avail. Tried to contact manufacturer again but that was even MORE time consuming than the first time. In short, I would NOT recommend this product. It is definitely faulty and the time and effort taken to rectify the problem by emailing and waiting for responses was painful! The manufacturer could have just sent a replacement on return of the faulty one. I have given 1 star for the ‘politeness’ in the email that I did eventually receive from the manufacturer but as I’ve said - could have been sorted out by replacement. If you do decide to purchase this lamp, just be prepared to be disappointed.

We Love our Lava Lamp BUT Sadly the Bulb Blew the 2nd time we turned it on ...then had trouble finding a shop/ DIY store that stocks this little tiny bulb for the lamp !! They are pretty Difficult to install the bulb Best tp uses a tissue holding the bulb incase it breaks as it is a tight fit....We did find the bulbs on Anazon and ordered some ....Question is Why did the bulb fitting in the lamp have to change to these bulbs instead we like the normal fitting better much easier to change the bulb

Having had an original MATHMOS "Blob Lamp" in the seventies, I was after a newer version for a retro 70's project I am currently building. Having read some of the scathing reviews for this product I was a little reluctant to buy this Lava Lamp, however after un packing,scrutinising, and eventually switching on I was delighted. Switched at 01.00. pm and in 90 minutes first activity, and after 2 hours working perfectly, left working for 5 hours and switched off. Next day on at 08.00. am, switched on and working perfectly after 90 mins. I don't see how this product will deteriorate after a months, unless you run it continuously. My original MATHMOS lasted 6 years, but I only used it maybe a couple of times a week, and it was operated in a cold bedroom with no central heating ( This was in the 70's ) I am wondering if the malfunction is due to over use, and not understanding the simple laws of thermal dynamics this lamp works by. If it is operated in a comfortable warm room, it will take longer to warm up and become active as the internal liquids will already be at the same temperature, and to create a thermal differential could take a long time. It must be left alone to create this differential, and I am sure it will give years of pleasure. Once it is operating "Leave it alone" it will get very hot, and if left on all day it will "Boil" the colour out of the internal coloured liquid, only use it for a few hours a day, as it was meant to be used, and enjoy the wonder of Thermal Dynamics.

Looks great IRL! I'm slightly let down that it's not recommended to keep it on for 10+ hours and that it's best to not move it or touch it while it's on... Aside from that it's a wonderful addition to the room and I definitely recommend it

The packaging arrived damaged, the plug was British (I was aware the product was coming from the UK but presumed, as it was being advertised on Amazon Australia, that the item would arrive with the correct plug) and the bulb didn’t work. Luckily we had an adapter and we bought a new bulb. The product now works well and our granddaughter loves her gift but it didn’t come without extra cost and issues.
