Can I twist the top off,?

Hi New Star, I'm sorry but NO the top does not twist or can be removed...

Will they hold 6.5 x 8 inch laminated card-stock signs?

While these seemed to be rather sturdy, they are not very tall like some others. Not sure how to answer the question...they might work if the laminated cards are rigid.

Will these hold a 7" vinyl record without falling over?

It should, the rings and base are pretty sturdy. The rings that hold the item were a little stiff though, so you might need something to hold them open while you slide the record in.

Perfect and Classy

These are exactly as pictured and very sturdy. They are simple and classy and have stayed looking brand new for as many times as I have used them. And the circle stays tight for keeping any kind of place card. I only wish that I had kept all 12 of mine after my daughter's wedding, but I only kept a few. They make great stands for food-identifiers at parties. I may order another set!
