A perfect hydration aid for pallative care...
I made this purchase as a close relative was receiving pallative care in hospital, and was becoming increasingly weaker & immobile. After they finally lost the use of their arms/hands, we were in desperate need of something that would keep them hydrated and unfortunately the hospital did not have appropriate resources or funding to provide them. The Hydrant Drinking Bottle was recomended to us, and found it available at a very reasonable price with quick delivery through Amazon - We snapped it up!The mechanism on the drinking tube allowed the patient to control their own drinking, and whilst they had the strength they were able to use this as advised. The length of the tube and the side handle also allowed the bottle to be fitted to the hospital bed, with adequate length to stretch across. As basic functions deteriorated sadly we had to stop using this bottle, as they did not have the strength to bring the fluid through the long tube. But I would still highly recommend this to patients or relatives of those who are in need of extra help during hospital stays; or even at home if they struggle with daily tasks such as taking a drink from a cup.Even the nurses on the ward were impressed!

Clever Product
What a fabulous idea this hydrant bottle is! This has made life so much easier. The bottle fits on the back of the bed so there is water available whenever needed. Because of this, I have more independence. (I am bed-bound).The end can be clipped onto the edge of the pillow so the person is not laying on the valve which lets water out. This is such a clever invention and is very highly recommended. The only downside after using this product for a couple of months is that the valve loses its elasticity and begins to leak water like a hosepipe. But then it has been used daily for all this amount of time so the positives outweigh this little fault. The independence it has given me is invaluable and the replacement 'straws' are cheap enough to replace every couple of months. I would recommend having a spare tube with valve in the cupboard in case the valve begins to leak. This product can literally be a lifesaver!

I could do with a couple of adjustments to it.
I like this but it could be better in my situation. I bought it for my mother who has dementia. She can be left with a 500ml bottle but chews the end off it so I thought this would be better as biting the end produces the fluid. However the end piece comes off into her mouth and I have to fish it out and dread her swallowing it. Could they make a tube with the end piece attached permanently ? The other problem is that she pulls on the tube so the other improvement in my situation would be if the tube and the lid were one somehow with the tube coming out only when the lid is unscrewed ?I wouldn't mind paying extra for these additional changes as they would then make the whole thing much safer and more reliable.I think the end bit that gets bitten and sucked on to draw the liquid through is ingenious and all bottles should have this ability so that there is no spillage when they get turned upside down. Just returned to add that yesterday she lent on the end piece and it flooded the chair she was on.

Fantastic Drinking Aid
This wonderful drinking bottle hangs on my wheelchair throughout the day and hangs over the end of my bed throughout the night. It is so easy to use - it took me about 3 minutes to get the hang of it. It does not drip and has no taste. It's so wonderful not to have to ask people to get me a drink. To have the independence to just be able to have a drink of water when you want could not be fully understood by an able-bodied person, but it's fantastic! I cannot recommend this highly enough. It would be particularly useful for anyone with limited dexterity, who is unable to turn on a tap or open a bottle of water.

Life saver
I had this for when I was in labour in hospital. I knew that I would struggle to keep myself hydrated if I'd have to keep reaching for a cup, Esspecially while in pain and exhausted. While in labour I refilled this bottle atleast 5 times which kept me hydrated and stopped my lips from drying up from all the gas and air. Not only was this item perfect while I was having my baby girl, but i still use it now! I use it when breastfeeding as I get so thirsty while feeding my little one and she can feed at times for 20 minutes on each side.My friend who had a c section said she wished she new about this item before she had her little girl as she was physically unable to move freely, stretch, sit up straight, ect. She struggled keeping herself hydrated and while at the hospital over night would get upset by how many times she'd have to ask for help to reach a cup of water. The quality was brilliant, it arrived on time and it is exactly as described.

Life changing piece of equipment ❤️
This product has been a livesaver for us. The patient is a recovering alcoholic and has terrible shakes. Using a glass/cup for juice was a big no no, and we have tried using all kinds of sports bottles/water bottles of which we found was either too hard for him to open or too loose and leaked. He lives on his own so wanted to be able to take a drink in the middle of the night if he was thirsty.. when I tell you I could have cried with joy when I brought him this and showed him how it worked, it really was life changing for him. Such a wonderful product and something that not alot of people have never heard of. Amazing. Will continue to tell everyone about it hoping it will help someone else in need.

Adequate for purpose
A client with MS who can no longer lift a bottle or cup asked me to research alternatives, and she's been using this for about 8 months now. It's a big improvement and has enabled her to drink more frequently with much less effort than before, and overall she's very pleased with it.She has two bottles on the go, and cycles them alternately each week. One gets a thorough clean and scrub and is allowed to dry completely. The second is used for the next week, cleaned and allowed to dry, and so on. During the week the bottle is in use it's completely emptied and refilled with water, rather than "topping up" all the time.We regularly buy replacement tubes - which come with the mouthpiece, approximately every six weeks or so.There are problems though:1. The plastic taste is a real issue especially at first when the bottle is new, and I do wonder if there are any health issues with the solvents used to make the plastic as it leaches into the water.2. It's hard to clean everything, especially the tube itself - certainly not the inside - without a specifically designed tube brush. It can get slimy so hygiene is really quite important.3. The mouthpiece easily comes off (and could be swallowed) so I tape it in place with PVC tape, which is replaced each week.4. The mouthpiece can leak out of the box (happened once) or may be fully sealed out of the box (happened twice) and difficult to open to the optimum orifice so you can suck but it doesn't leak. In any case, it starts to leak after a few weeks at best and has to be replaced.5. The bottle will leak around the tube at the top if it falls over, so isn't watertight. This is not usually a problem - but you couldn't (for instance) invert the bottle as other reviewers have noted.6. Quite a strong suck is required to fill the empty tube and get the water to your mouth. This could be a problem for some people.Overall it's a good product, probably one of the best available, but it could be improved. It needs regular cleaning and fairly frequently replacements of tubes and mouthpieces, which is probably okay for most users.

Life changing
I am fully bed bound, which those of you with chronic illnesses and pain will tell you sucks. Even worse that the tables I have done fully go over my bed and even if they did, I would still have to lean to grab a drink from my usual water bottle but I could have a leg spasm and hurt myself on the table. Then I saw this bottle and as soon as it came it was washed out and filled and it's like my world went black and white to 4k colour. No longer do I have to hold on to bed bars and frames to lean to grab my bottle or if I'm in pain, not lean and be dehydrated. I don't have to worry about me knocking it off my table as it clips to my headboard. I don't have to fight my hand spasms to hold a bottle and flip a lid to get a drink, which to most would seem easy but to my hands even 100ml can be like 10kg. I barely need to move to get a drink, even when laid down or on my opposite side to my bottle. This is something that's just changed my life, it may be just a water bottle but to me it's 15% less pain, less hassle and 100% more hydration, less bladder and kidney pain and a percentage of my old life back where I had more independence. Yes it will leak as it's not 100% tight because of fitting the straw threw the top but it will only do so if you tipping it upside down or laying it down on its side which you don't need to do. A water bladder bag won't leak if you need to lay it down ect but for me with cats, it's not practical, the hydrant bottle is.
