Canon Inkjet Printer, Black, Pack of 1, Fade Resistant

Only use canon products for my printer. Never had a problem with any of the many inks i have purchased.

When Canon sell you a new printer (Pixma MG5450) they only give you starter cartridges with it which hold a very small amount of ink in them PGI-550 black and CLI-551 colour cartridges c/m/y (STARTER CARTRIDGES). I was using about 3 black and 2 each of the colours cartridge per month and it was costing me a small forturne. I later found out that Canon do a higher yield versions of the PGI-550 and CLI-551 cartridges which cost only a few pounds more but hold far more ink in them than the starter cartridges which I was using before. What you need is a PGI-550XL on the black which hold 22mls of ink rather than the 15mls of ink that is in the black starter cartridge and on the colour what you should be using is CLI-551XL cartridges which holds 11mls each colour rather than the 7mls which is in the colour starter cartridges. I can even go one better, I now use a company called advantage online who stock the Canon originals PGI-550/CLI-551XL's plus do British premium compatible PGI-550XL and CLI-551XL cartridges which hold a impressive 25mls black and 12mls per colour. I have used them a couple of times so far and have been quite impressed. I hope you don't fall into the Canon trap of selling a very good printer (Pixma MG5450) at a very cheap price and then trying to charge you load of money for starter cartridges which are nearly empty....

Came fairly quickly, and significantly cheaper than elsewhere (though I have noticed a lot of places are now just selling the inks in packs where you get the all the colours, which may or may not include black - if I wanted to buy my colours together I'd have bought a printer with combined cartridges; the yellow lasts a lot longer than cyan or magenta). It's just your standard Canon ink cartridge which never lasts very long even though this is the high yield variety. According to Which? Canon are meant to be one of the cheaper companies for ink, it just never feels like it - and sometimes you don't get much notice it's running out. I would never recommend printing with non-branded inks, especially if you are printing photos (which I do) or using more expensive papers (which I also do).

A cartridge you can always trust

I ordered two of these genuine yet affordable Canon cartridges because the cheaper ones I already had would not fit in my Canon Pixma printer. These fit perfectly and the print quality is exceptional. As for the service, I heard there was an Amazon Locker close to home and I decided to give it a try using Amazon's one day delivery option. Before I collected my cartridges from my local locker, I received notification by text and e-mail giving me the code to enter on the locker screen, meaning the level of communication was efficient. My cartridges arrived in the locker today, which was very pleasing and convenient.Overall, these cartridges and the locker service are excellent and I will definitely consider both again in future. 5/5.

As should be expected from the OEM, these inks are excellent and work well in the printer. Results are sharp and clear. Using the printer for 2~3 A4 sheets each day, so far the inks have not dried in the head so do not need excessive ink consuming cleaning every time the printer is used.Only down side at the moment is that being a very new cartridge, no compatibles are currently available, so replacing the inks is expensive.

Yes, these are more than the cheaper third party cartridges available. I’ve tried both, though, and these cartridges produce much more vibrant prints. And they can print loads so the overall costs aren’t even that high, especially compared with high street printing costs. I think it’s worth paying that little extra for the official Canon cartridges compared with cheap third party cables. I’m not entirely sure about this but I think third party cartridges could also void your warranty if they leak and cause damage. I highly recommend using the official cartridges.

I’ve purchased this cartridge for my Canon Pixma printer several times over a number of years. I don’t buy alternative cartridges or refills because they can damage the printer. I get quality printing from this original Canon cartridge and it lasts a long time.
