Celestron 71252 UpClose G2 8 x 40 Porro Binocular, Black

I thought it was time to invest in a half decent pair of binoculars to take my rank amateur birdwatching to the next level. After much deliberation I went for these as a well known brand at a decent price (you can pay twice as much elsewhere). Image is good, occasional fringing, focus is crisp and diopter adjustment good. 8x40 is recommended by most in the know as the optimal spec for birdwatching and they have proved to be the case, not too powerful to show up your shakes and light enough to hold up for long periods. Neck strap is a bit thin but I have a guitar strap on order to address that (99p from eBay! ). As many have said, with binoculars there is a law of diminishing returns. Pay twice much as this and you won't get twice the quality of image. Having tried £70 pairs there is a marginal difference but for the occasional user is it worth it? Overall they have to rate 5 stars.

I like the feel of them, not too big and they are easy to handle while focusing on wild birds. The focusing wheel is wide and easy to obtain a clear sharp image.

Bought these at the same time as a pair of 15x70 as I was worried the larger ones would need a tripod for use and I hoped these might be more suitable for the kids. I was right; they are light and easy to use, while still providing a great view and sharp image. They are multicoated and use BAK-4 prisms, standard for decent binoculars. They came well packaged (the prisms can go out of alignment if knocked about too much) and although the carry case is cheap it is sufficient. The included neck strap is useless though, thin and digging into your neck. I'm planning buying a new one, I got the OP/TECH for my 15x70 and it is fantastic. Overall, I cannot fault these at the price I paid (£20 delivered) and the kids love them.

This is the first time I've bought a pair of binoculars and I'm very pleased with them. I needed a pair for visiting air shows and for bird watching. I was a bit surprised at some of the prices out there, so I decided to go for a budget pair. I chose these because I know Celestron also make telescopes and they have lens making experience. They seem well made and for the price, very good quality. I have already used them at an air show and for some bird watching in my garden and find them ideal for both.

They're ok, a little heavy. Zoom is clear.

For the price, these are unbeatable. The edges are a bit distorted, but you don't really notice that in normal use. The magnification is good, the brightness is superb the large exit aperture means that they are really easy and comfortable to look through, and the extremely wide viewing angle is amazing for tracking. I'm actually not sure how they sell them for this much money.

I was looking for a reasonably priced pair of binoculars for bird watching, and these really fit the bill. The image is really clear and sharp, and the viewing distance is excellent. A couple of people have commented about lens caps being loose, but mine are a good tight fit. I'm really pleased with my purchase, and would certainly recommend them.

Bought these as a present for my daughter. Very high quality for the price - images are sharp and bright and very easily focused. Binoculars feel robust and offer good grip. So pleased I immediately bought another pair for my dad.

I tried several types- more expensive and less, and these are awesome. I can adjust so I see no dark spots, the close and distant features work well beyond others I tried. For the money - trust me, you can't get better than these. They are a tad heavier than the pocket type of course - but nothing that should stop you from trying them. I would encourage anyone on the fence to go for it. I'm sure glad I did

私は双眼鏡を使うのが初めてではありませんが、多くの双眼鏡を見比べたことがあるわけではないので、光学性能の良し悪しは正直よくわかりません。 なので作りについての報告のみしたいと思います。 安いのでしょうがないですが、やっぱり見た目は安っぽいです。でも今どきの双眼鏡は高級品も外装は樹脂やゴムなので大差ないかもしれません。もちろんMade in Chinaです。 プリズムボックスとそれを繋ぐアームは一体構造でアルミ製です。しかし接眼レンズが付いているアームはプラスチック製です。接眼レンズを押したときのたわみは金属製より大きいです。たわめば当然ピントがズレます。 しかしメリットもあります。金属だと強い力が掛かって曲がったら曲がったきりですが、プラなら元に戻ります。一長一短ですね。 ピントリングの回転は柔らかめかもしれません。もう少し固くてもいい気がします。 右の接眼レンズに付いてる視度調整リングと左右を繋ぐヒンジの回転はしっかり固く、簡単にズレてしまうようなことはありません。これは良い。 目当てはメガネ使用時は折りたたむタイプのゴム製で、接眼レンズ枠をすっぽり覆う形で被せてあります。 これにはちょっとお粗末なところがあります。右の目当てには視度調整のための「＋ 0 -」という印があり、アームには指標があるのですが、なんとその目当てが接眼レンズ枠に固定されていずヌルヌルとエンドレスで回ってしまうのです！それじゃ意味が無い！印が無くても調整に支障無いとはいえ、お粗末すぎます。 ゴムを少しめくってみたら外せそうだったので外してみて理由が分かりました。一応接着剤らしきものが塗ってあるのですが、極悪品質でヌルヌルベタベタしてるだけで全く接着できていなかったのです！ありえない！左右共です。さすがの中華クオリティ(笑)。 レンズはマルチコートを謳っていますが、全ての面にコーティングしてるわけではないようで、白く明るい反射が見えます。プリズムは無コートです。鏡筒内の内面反射対策もあまりなされていないようで、なんと白い接着剤が使われていたりします。黒い接着剤でもコスト変わらないでしょうに。 プリズムがローコストなBK7だと射出瞳がケラレると言われます。本機は確かにケラレが確認できますが、極わずかです。これならほとんど影響無いのではないでしょうか。 仕様表にはWater Resistantとありますが、IPコードは書いてないのでどの程度かは不明です。おそらく防滴程度ではないでしょうか。窒素封入はありません。 レンズキャップは対物接眼どちらも紛失防止の工夫のないシンプルなキャップ。しかもユルユルですぐ外れる。失くしてくれと言わんばかりのキャップです。 三脚アダプター取り付け部のカバーもネジ留めではなくパチッとはめてあるだけなので、付け外しを繰り返せば緩くなってくると思われますし、小さいのでレンズキャップよりさらに失くしやすいです。 ストラップは幅9mmの平紐という最低限の物。首に食い込むので他の幅広のを付けました。 ケースも安っぽいです。オマケってところ。 取説に日本語はありません。日本の代理店であるアーキサイト社のチラシが入っていて、日本語の取説はウェブサイトでダウンロードできると書いてあるのですが、行ってみたところ本機のような安物の取説はありませんでした(笑)。もっとも取説なんか不要ですが。 本機はエントリークラスなので、上級機よりローコストな作りなのは当然でしょう。なので問題は「この価格としてはどうなのか」ですが、最初に書いた通り私は多くの双眼鏡を見比べたことがあるわけではないので判断できません。セレストロンは天体望遠鏡という専門性の高い世界で有名らしいので、安物とは言え変な物は出さないだろうと思っておくことにします(笑)。 ただし、目当ての接着剤だけは論外ですね。いくら安物でもありえない。

très bonne idée cadeau pour débuter l'astronomie/l'observation de la nature!

I am using a Celestron 20x80 for astronomy. That’s absolute stunning in performance but typically made for really remote objects and for people with strong arms :). This little guy is just perfect for nature and birds where you can see something and now you need to see with higher clarity. The 8x40 is lightweight, super easy to adjust and focus. The quality can be felt through the touch and optics. I would recommend this to even beginners. It’s not that pricey compared to nature dx series. Go for it!
