Buy The Usborne Children's Picture Atlas: 1 (Usborne Atlases) by Ruth Brocklehurst, Linda Edwards (ISBN: 9780746047132) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: A Must-Have Book For All Kids! - Excellent book! I bought it for my 3 year old, thinking she would be too young for it but it would be useful to have around as a reference book in the future. However she found the graphics so appealing she asked to have it as a bedtime story and we worked our way through 2 pages a night (as they can take quite a while to go through) and she loves it! We're now working through it a second time round, going into more detail and she still loves it! It explains the basics of cartography and geography in a clear way and has lots of search and find activities that can lead to educational discussions, while still being great fun for kids. I highly recommend it! Review: Usborne Children's Picture Atlas - I bought this book as a Christmas present for my Partner's granddaughter who lives in the Philippines and is just 7 years old. When I ordered it I was not disappointed, it was even better than the impression given by the sample pages. The colour pictures are wonderful and it is packed with information that she can appreciate on different levels as she gets older. It shows how people live in different areas of the world and the countries where different animals originate. All the major cities of the world are shown on clear but detailed maps. I bought it to inspire her and open her eyes to the wonders of the world and I hope it will continue to do just that. And what did the child think...I'm told she was delighted and it is very precious to her! A totally lovely book well worth buying.

Bright, Colurful, informative
I bought this for my 5 year old who was starting to learn about different countries around the world. The book has been very helpful to him as he has been able to relate with what he has been taught in class with what is in the book. The book is very colourful and appealing to children. It is very imformative by showing the little details such as which countries certain animals originate from. Another great Usborne book

Grandma's delight
I live in France and bought this book for my six year old grandson who loves The Continents and wildlife of any description. The book stays with us here in France for the twice yearly visits by the grandchildren. My Grandson's first reaction was "thank you Grandma for buying this book, I love it", what better accolade could it have? His four year old sister enjoys it too and together they explore the world and their imaginations run riot. They have learned so much from it; it has enriched their knowledge of the world I am now going to buy it for his primary school in Kent because I think it has so much to offer primary schoolchildren.

Very good
Great first atlas for my son

Great Present.
My 3 year old Grandson, loves maps and atlas's, he loves telling you where everything is. He knows the 50 states of America and the capitals of each state. This is a good book for beginners, it is cartoon in drawings and only has certain pictures but for a 3 year old it is fantastic keeps him occupied for quite some time. Only problem is when he looks at you and says 'Tell me about it' I am limited to my own knowledge of the world. Love it when a 3 year old out does his Grandmother.

Beautiful informative book
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. The illustrations are clear and beautiful, there are lots of really interesting facts and it is interactive because you can find things on the maps at the end. Lots of fun learning. I bought one for a 6 and 5 year old in the family for Christmas and will be buying my son one soon too!

Well-produced, but a bigger format would make it ideal for children of around 7-9 years old. Hope they come out with such an edition.

This book is exactly what I was hoping it would be. My toddler grandchild is super interested in maps, and we recently expanded from the US to world maps. We usually spread out a very large, laminated world map, but I wanted something smaller and easier to handle that is still not too advanced for children. This book fits the bill. I love that it shows a continent and then shows the world map so you can see where that continent is located. The images and labels in the book are perfect for kids exploring the world.

I was expecting a fabulous book with clear explanations, interesting pictures, and facts that would be compelling to a pre-schooler or early elementary grade child -- and this book SURPASSED my high expectations. The whole idea of how to read a map is so well explained for the new map-reader -- before you get into the maps, you see a two-page spread on each of the colors used widely in map-making -- WHITE is for ICE and SNOW, and YELLOW is for DESERTS, and BLUE is for LAKES and OCEANS, etc. Cultures, animals, dress, traditions, landscapes, and more are all well-packed into this book. I bought this to share with my 3 1/2 year old inquisitive learner, and we will use just 2 pages each time we sit down. I think this would be equally or more valuable for older children, even up to the first 4 grades. (At that age, they can sit and read all the detailed information that is attractively presented.) Well done Usborne, with another great resource book for kids!

A pretty book like any Usborne. When I was ordering this, I knew it was going to be small to hold. So, rhetorical remark that it would be better if the format was bigger. Otherwise, good illustrations and good text for kids to understand.
