More than 300 random tables designed to help you build a new world from scratch or take your existing RPG campaign to new levels of creativity and excitement, plus 3 exciting one-shot adventures! While The Game Master's Book of Astonishing Random Tables is not a wondrous item, you'd be forgiven for assuming it has magical properties. That's because within these pages are countless adventure hooks - side quests and travel complications and chase sequences and skill challenges and other encounters suitable for any environment. And that's just one section. These table results aren't just short line listings of random answers either. Inside, you'll find rich, fully examined results and supplemental pieces of text that provide you with all the information you need to use them effectively. With this book by your side, you can develop an entire campaign setting, its pantheon, its various continental forms and proclivities of its population. From the big questions ("Where does magic come from?," "Who's in charge?," "Why are we at war with our neighbors?") down to the most minute detail ("Can my party avoid paying property taxes on their new keep if it's actually an instant fortress?"), this book has you covered. Develop a rich tapestry of trade and commerce by randomizing your realms economy or find out who's really pulling the strings by rolling on the Puppet Government table. Want more ideas? How about a table or curses or dreams or wild magic results or spell scroll side effects or a random potions generator or a list of things your party shouldn't tough (but probably will)? All those and much, much more are waiting within. So relax, unwind and unleash the unknown. By letting this book spark your creativity and set the stage for each session, you can focus on the important things like how to properly destroy that instant fortress). Review: Excellent for GMS!!! - Great book! Very helpful for a GM in setting up a dungeon for avid players. So many great ideas to never have a dull moment while players enter new adventures! Review: Randomly Awesome - I play a lot of solo ttrpgs, and these tables have come in very handy for on the spot worldbuilding, events, characters, etc. I have especially used the "chase scene" tables numerous times. While they are geared toward fantasy, they are easily adaptable to be used for other genres as well, by simply replacing a few relevent details. Additionally, there are 3 one-shot adventures included within the book. It was not something I had noticed or expected when purchasing, but was an excellent discovery!

Incredibly helpful book!
I rarely buy things purely on impulse, but the "Astonishing Random Tables" title caught my eye. It looked fun, so into the cart it went. I'm pleased to say that it's full of creative ideas to make a campaign more fun. I run a game, and a problem I've had is that so many adventures seem like they just railroad the players through a linear path from the beginning to the end. Having a ready-made book full of everything from minor details to major side quests is incredibly helpful, because it keeps the adventure from seeming like all the other "whatever was in the book and what our same DM ad-libbed" sessions. I'm busy, I'm often tired by the time we get to game night, and the ideas in this book are really helpful. This is the best addition to my gaming library since my book of pre-made NPCs. As uncreative as that sounds, my players and I recently had a six-week side quest based around a half-page description of an NPC - and that's exactly the sort of thing that I expect to be able to do with "The Game Master's Book of Astonishing Random Tables."

SUPER WORTH IT!
I got this as a gift for my friend, a DM with a while bookcase of D&D and umpteen other RPG systems, and he's been browsing it for weeks and telling me about all the cool ideas and the fun laws & logics it has. He's been incredibly impressed and is now considering buying the rest of this series of resources.

Fabulous except for the weirdest misprint and missing pages!
This is actually a great book, as is the rest of the series. We've had it for awhile and one of us went to use it today and, as is the history of luck with us, we got the weirdest misprint. It goes up to page 39, back to pages 33-39, skips to pages 57-64, duplicates pages 57-64, and appears to be fine for the rest of the book. It would be 5 stars if we had the missing pages. Looks like we're going to have to use our brains to fill in the blanks. :)

Fun read and useful for unplanned moments
I picked up this book as I love random tables. The DM's toolbox has a lot that this book overlaps, but unlike that book, this one actually goes in to detail on the tables and the results are a lot less generic. That is both a good and a bad though... As things like "Chase complications" have 20 results that are all very specific... and if in an extended chase it will become "how many times have I almost hit a wagon and had a horse kick me?". Overall though lots of useful tables. I can foresee using it when my players throw a wrench in my plans and go off script. The book has ideas on how to use it for planning sessions too, but I think the off script part is where I will get the most use.

Chaos personified
This random table book has been a lifesaver at my table. Whenever Iโm stuck on the flyโwhether itโs naming an NPC, describing a tavern, or throwing in a weird twistโI just flip it open and instantly have ideas. The variety is fantastic: quirky encounters, flavorful loot, and fun prompts that keep players guessing. What I love most is how flexible it is. Even though itโs geared toward D&D, I can see it working with pretty much any TTRPG. Some of the results are hilarious, others are genuinely clever, and a few are downright wild (in the best way). Itโs not the kind of book you read cover-to-cover, but it is the kind youโll pull off the shelf every single session. For any DM who likes a little chaos and surprise in their game, this is an excellent pickup.

Still Punching Above It's Class
This is the 5th book so far in the Game Master's line. I've purchased the previous 4 (Encounters, NPC's, Traps, Dragons) and look forward to the next two in October (Proactive, Villains). The quality of the book itself is excellent. This is really top tier book materials and binding, especially considering the price. Full retail is a bargain, so if you get it at a discount, just more gravy on the chicken. Content wise, you get quite a bit. Pretty much anything your players will come across (but not everything, we know how "creative" they can be) is at hand for you to use. Random roll or a good idea from the list, use it however you need to. There's alot of flavor here for your homebrew world or to use in a pre-fab adventure for those times your party does something unexpected. Keep the core set of 4 at hand during sessions (Dragons can stay on the shelf till you need it) and you're pretty much covered when your party surprises you, or you want to surprise them. It would be nice to have an electronic version of these. A well made, indexed and searchable Kindle version or PDF with extensive links...or make them available on D&D Beyond as Digital Assets. Many of us love our physical books and also have digital versions on D&D Beyond to use when traveling light to a friend's table, conventions, game store, or a Discord/Zoom/VTT session.
