The best TV in this price range after long Research
My TV usage is freeview, streaming Netflix/Amazon, Xbox 1 (and will be Xbox Scorpio, so I wanted a TV that would support it's 4k)I picked this TV after several hours of researching what TVs were available for a £700 budget and what features and specifications were important to get the best performance. While many are important, the most important in terms of future proofing seemed to be a TV that supports HDR10 or Dolby Vision. This determines how well the TV colours. The other huge factor is LED or OLED, this determines several things including how crisp the picture is and how much the picture 'pops' out at you. There are also some other important factors such as refresh rate (how smooth the picture is) and response/lag time (how quickly the picture displays input). Also how the screen is lit from behind, whether it's from the edges or directly behind (affects how black the blacks are)OLED is not an option below £700, certainly not on a 50inch, so I had to go for LED. Within LED there are various technologies and from what I had read 'quantum dot' is at the high end. This TV has it so it was a big plus for me.Dolby Vision & HDR10 are also expensive options and true support of either or both doesn't seem to be an option in this price range. However there are a few that provide the inferior HDR8 but support HDR10 by a software workaround. Not as good but they at least support it (future proofing it e.g. Xbox Scorpio). I saw this TV however also supports Dolby Vision, which is an even higher specification so I thought that gave this TV the advantage.Of the other factors, some perhaps more important to gamers, this TV was also generally superior - including a much higher refresh rate and decent response time.Disappointingly it is edge lit rather than back lit, this means the blacks can't reach an inky depth, but will be more of a Matt black. Again, at this price range you won't get back lit but given the impressive specs of this TV the only real difference is OLED and a back lit panel. The difference is noticeable and for me anyway, it just robs a bit of the wow factor that I got from some (expensive) TVs in PC world. That being said, putting my budget aside you would really have to ask yourself if paying double the price is really worth it. For me, the price is certainly not worth it, a 10% performance increase for a 50% does not stack up.Finally, the software and connectivity has impressed me. This is my first smart TV so I have nothing to compare it with, therefore other TVs could have even better but it doesn't take away from what I've experienced. It presents a rotating app bar at the bottom of the screen (not unlike that of a Mac book) and lets you fire up Netflix, freeview, YouTube, internet, Xbox 1 and so on from anywhere, very quickly. Therrs also an app store for loads more apps. You navigate the TV with a remote that also acts as a magic wand, controlling the cursor on screen via motion detection - very cool. It also connects to everything I have both wired and wirelessly.I can't fault the TV - best Ultra 4K HDR10 TV (on paper) I could find and it hasn't disappointed in reality, incredible picture. Would recommend, especially to gamers on a budget

Great piece of kit
Going from the main TV which was an aging 43 inch 720p plasma, and the computer monitor which is a 26 inch 1080p LCD, to this was like night and day.The first thing I did was load up some 4K YouTube videos and what can I say, they blew me away, I cannot wait to get some 4K Blu-rays.The picture quality is simply amazing. The HDR works really well, the detail is incredible. Sometimes it almost tricks me into thinking it's in 3D.I'd recommend turning off vivid, it does make the images "pop", but they look pretty unrealistic. I also turned off the dynamic backlighting as many reviewers have noted it does create banding across the screen, by no means as badly as some make out but I did notice if a few times. The blacks, I found, are deep enough without it on anyway. The operating system is pretty good, everything one would expect from a modern device with all the usual suspects represented. The menus are easy enough to navigate, and the magic remote is a breeze to use once mastered.Severely lacking is a paper manual, but that's the way of the modern world. As expected there's an e-manual on the menu screen, which to be fair is good enough. The build quality is top notch, I think LG have really come a long way in the last ten or so years. My main reason for buying is the imminent release of the PS4 Pro, so I'll reserve some judgment for the TV until I have tried that in the near future. But all in all, for the price, I doubt there's a much better one to be found. It's pretty future proof by employing HDR10 and Dolby Vision standards. It is also a quantum dot display which is surely the future of TVs.If you're after a sub £1000 4K HDR TV, then this is maybe the one.

LG 55uh7700 underrated?
This TV is amazing, I mean I get home from work and I get in bed and do not leave my bed, why would I?I got this huge 55" 4k TV in front of me. The picture quality is ridiculously good, especially viewing 4k content (using Netflix) even HD content gets upscaled really well.Web OS, so simple and so easy to navigate, everything runs smoothly, no judder and lag free. In addition, the magic remote's cursor is one of the best ideas for a TV it makes navigation that much faster as apposed to constantly clicking the TV button to get across the keyboard you just hover over to the letters you want and it's as simple as that.Gaming, I've left the settings as normal and honestly the picture quality is amazing, the TV detail is unreal, things I didn't notice on a 1080p display just pop out and make the gaming experience that much better. One thing I want to mention is input lag, people say this TV has a really bad input lag and I was expecting that to happen as it's a large screen I didn't expect to game on it, however, using it myself, I couldn't notice no input lag at all (probably got fixed with an update to the TV software) so yes gaming is completely fine, providing you stay in game mode, I, myself have been gaming for a really long time so I'd notice input lag but it just doesn't exist. To address some issues... Or complaints by others... The first complaint is about the nits, people look at numbers and just judge, like really? That's not how it works. You got to try it or at least do your own research take into account other people's views... So about the nits, on paper yeah it's not as good as Samsung ks8000 but then again thats £600+ more than this LG, but in person the blacks are blacker than black, I don't see it getting blacker unless you grab an OLED, so yeah and the colours are bright and vivid and it really does stand out... Finally, the issue that people complain about most is the 5 vertical strips... Yes they do exist, it does get slightly annoying but there are settings to adjust it, put it to low and it's slightly better or turn it completely off and that's it it's gone, simple as that.In conclusion, this TV is amazing, the picture quality is exquisite and it does its job and it definitely provides 4K definition. For the price of £799 I would definitely recommend this as it is one of the best 4K TV's currently available that supports dolby vision and HDR... The competition to this TV is Samsungs ks8000/9000 series but you have to be willing to spend an extra £600+ for the same TV size, probably slightly better picture quality but not to the extent of it being completely noticeable and not having Dolby Vision.I am giving this TV 4 stars because one of the main things that increase the price on this TV are the local dimming (the 5 vertical strips) and they are an issue, which again can completely be turned off and won't be noticed at all but you are/did paying for it... At the end of the day I originally saw this at £1000 if I bought it for that much I'd be pretty angry like the others because it is the local dimming increasing the price, but for £799 it's a complete steal. My setup is a work it progress 😂😂
