GET THIS PRODUCT!! We got this for Christmas morning and my daughter was so happy that we didn't just open it but had to put it in water. Then by Christmas afternoon it had already hatched and she was so excited! Then each day she would come and look at it and I would ask her if the baby chick was ready to come out yet and she would say "not yet mama." Today she finally decided it was time and boy oh boy was she excited. Then, when we took it out, it really looked like a chick that was just born and it was the size of an adult palm. She wrapped it in a towel like a new born and is spending all day taking care of it and pretend feeding it. GET THIS! it's totally worth 5 bucks!

Kind of slimey but a cute gimmick for kids
I really don't know what people expect. It is a gimmicky egg for kids. You soak it in water for a few days, the egg cracks and out grows something. Has no one used any growing sponges? Same concept.I'll say I read the description, and the egg was exactly as expected and did exactly as described. Only surprise was that they are slimy, but who would play with what amounts to a wet glob of gelatin in the first place?I got one for my daughter for Easter, as a cute little thing she will like to watch grow. And it was just that, she put it in water, next day shell started to break, day after that it started to grow. Leaving it in the water for 2 weeks as the directions say you can is up to you. It grows and becomes a weird looking overgrown creature. These aren't little plastic toys to play with, the are slimy growing gimmicks your kid will have a few minutes of fun with. If you want plastic figures in eggs then go buy the figures and eggs and go to town.

Perfect for younger toddlers
I bought this a few weeks in advance of Easter and the morning of, we submerged it in water. The next day it was cracked and much to my 2yr old daughter's delight, we could open our hatchling then. She thinks it's the greatest thing ever and asks to see/hold her chick everyday but we're trying to see how big it gets.

Doesnt work
Got this for my daughter for easter, she was super excited to watch it hatch but by the next morning it was cracked open in half with the chick inside floating around the container. Very disappointing consider it was expensive for just 1 egg and she never got to see what it said it would do.

took forever
When gifting to a 4-year-old, there isn't much patience for toys that take days to open and grow. Well, my little guy lost interest pretty fast when he realized that his Easter present wasn't cooperating to his standards. This is a cute idea, but it took a little too long for my little guy. Probably my fault - he's probably simply too young for something like this to hold his attention. Oh, well.
