Buy 101 Uses for Stinging Nettles by Warren, Piers (ISBN: 9780954189990) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Fantastic book about so many uses of stinging nettles - A fantastic little book that has what it says on the cover, so many uses for stinging nettles! Was a fascinating read and inspired me to make my own nettle tea for the first time which was delicious. Review: A veritable mine of information - So you thought nettles were an unwelcome growth in your garden...think again. This is a fascinating book and I have loved reading it. The recipes are great and who would have known you can make string and garden bindings from the flattened stalks? I particularly liked the medicinal applications. No more expensive exfoliating ointments needed either. Nettles have it all! I no longer look at nettles with disdain, they are our friends and like so much in nature, they have so many properties which are beneficial to our health. I recommend this book.

Nettles, the things I didn't know.
The photos inside are poor quality, but the text is what you would expect from a 101 uses book. It does the job and includes many things that I had no idea that your could do with the humble nettle.

101Uses for stinging netttles
A very interesting little book that could make a useful addition to the country's garden bookshelf. It's tendency to pendantry makes it unsuitable as a bedtime read unless you are the sort of person that reads recipe books in bed, however, as an introduction to a valuable herb and fascinating plant this publication is probably unsurpassed.

This is a great book
Want to know what to do with the kids over the holidays, get this book, you will change hearts and minds with this gem. This is a book for all, great gift for all ages and interests, A slice of history, a bit of money saving, a step down memory lane:- To making potions and turning the kitchen into a willingly surrendered science lab. Beauty au natural; lotions and ointments. who knew the humble nettle could be so much fun, And there is a beer in it for you if you wish. Bags of fun and information a real must have, packed with new ideas for christmas gifts of a home made nature to presents for all at a saving with fun fun fun all the way. Perhaps get a pair of garden gloves for a quid to help with the picking and do not scare the nettles if you use your hands ! Really very Recommended especially for holidays and family fun.

Frankly, I must admit I was one of "them" -those auotmatons who viewed the nettle as noxious & annoying...until I recieved this very informative book! They are quite common where I live, yet suffice to say, I was ignorant of their potential. Now I am not. Very interesting, info- packed book that has satisfied my lust for understanding about the world around & under me. I once saw a nettle used to sedate some bad guys in an episode of MacGyver, and that always stuck with me...1/4 century later! Seratonin was the cause, but I did not know that. Nettles contain this compound- I drew that from this book!! I did not even know how highly regarded this plant was around the world, but specially in Britian ,where there are actually festivals dedicated to it! Knowledge is truly power, and I am empowered to apply some of the things I've gleaned therein, and add this plant to my foraging list( love to make the tea)! Rock on!

This book is a great source for everything you need to do with those nettles. If you have a patch of them and are thinking about getting rid of them you might want to get this book instead.

A collection of uses for the more common nettles. After a brush-clearing event by workers who hadn't cleaned their equipment, my lot was blessed with common Urtica diaocea every spring since. These block out the foxtails and mustard that previously took over the yard, and are much easier to remove. They are a pretty, dark green, look like tall mints. They feed many insects, especially ladybug larvae. The died-down stems are nutritious for the soil and compost. Small butterflies like them. The lot is rural and away from traffic, and we haven't used any pesticides or herbicides, etc for many years, so I think the nettles grown here will be fairly clean. When I was a child, I read a fairy tale about a princess who had to use nettles to reverse an evil spell by using their fibers to make sweaters for her brothers. Indeed, nettles have been used as a fiber source, similarly as flax. Do the nettles sting? Yes, a bit itchy, too, but nothing serious, and doesn't last long. No rash, nothing like poison ivy at all. Rose thorns hurt more. I haven't tried boiling the nettles as a "spinach green", but I have see that mentioned in many other places. One day...
