Would this be big enough to live catch a young rabbit?

If you could get it in there, then yes. I've caught (but not wanting to) a couple of chunky hedgehogs who obviously couldn't resist the lure of a broken Twix finger and it's creamy caramel topped wafer biscuit... dammit.... can someone get me out of this trap.... hello? Someone...? :)

Both my traps are extra sensitive- I can't set them. Any tweaks I can make?

I found using a bit of masking tape to wrap a single layer around each of the two setting arms that touch, allowed enough grip to keep the trap 'loaded' without tripping. Also putting a small weight on the top of the trap prevents it being knocked and also setting off the trap.

My rat turns out to be a squirrel- will this work for him?

Most definitely should...ours turned out to be a baby hedgehog who was very indignant about being kept securely incarcerated overnight :)

Can it catch a mouse? I'm not sure if its a mouse or a rat in the garage. Its rustling quite alit. Eeeeek

It would probably trap an adult mouse but it will also catch squirrels and hedgehogs and birds if used outdoors, also they can be tricky to set, as you are using it in a garage it would be Ok but I have also used these baited humane kill traps The Big Cheese STV149 Ultra Power Rat Traps (Ready Baited, Easy to Set, Twin Pack), White. these should never be used outdoors, I inadvertently caught and killed a Wren.
