Another excellent book from Mr. Nutall.
I have read the previous 9 books in the 'Zero Universe ' and find this one to be a worthy addition. The series has branched out in several different directions and at the same time interweaving the stories, allowing each book to build on the whole. In this book, Kat, ( the main character), is now considered an adult and has an opportunity to investigate an ancient city. This is something she has unique qualifications for.The tale goes in a direction which surprised me and yet fits in the story line.

Very good addition to the Xero Enigma series
Really enjoyed this book and the rest of the books in the series.Cat is a wonderful character, and her determination to live her life her way within a very rigid social hierarchy is a good read. The plot and storyline is fascinating and all the other characters are gtreat fun to read about. Now if Cat would just cut her hair before she and Akin get married -

Tenth book for this Series & going strong
Chris has an extraordinary talent for spinning a riveting tale over several books. I thought this was the end of the Zero series and was glad to see it isn't yet. I'm also reading his military stories and they are great. I'm impressed by the respect he has for military personnel & organizations, as a former Army officer I'm tired of authors who paint all things military as evil and/or stupid. Please keep going, sir! Anticipating your next Zero book? Advice: hire some Zeros to speed up Production Processes.

Enough story lines for all.
Redemption. Twists abound throughout. I liked this tale as it brings our main hero front and center again. Akin did fade back and we don,t know what he was doing while Cat learned about ghosts. Only the writer knows why the kinsman did decide to take charge. What tipped the scale? I reckon we gonna find out! Thanks again.

Looking forward to more.
I usually dislike serials - mostly because the interval between books may be a year or more. And if there is a cliff-hangar ending, by the time the next book comes out, you have forgotten important details. But not so with Christopher Nuttall's stories. He has managed to keep two separate serials going through over two dozen novels, and churns them out in an amazingly quick fashion. And each novel is a delight - replete with character development, fast paced action and attention to detail. Can't ask for more.

Starts Slow and Complex
Good story telling, here. Thus start slow, building the characters in layers. There are actually too many of, as if Nuttall was going to write a much longer story and changed his mind. In any event, I noted that and it was curious. Then, two thirds of the way through, Cat gets back to normal and the story proceeds rapidly with the usual fun. Great story telling and some if the best writing you will find today.

An over top adventure
Great addition to the series and a fun read. The two points of view worked well.

Really ramps up the action
There is a LOT of action in this book. In many of the previous books in the series, the story evolves rather than moving ahead dramatically. If you have thought in previous books that Cat really needed to be a bit more assertive ... well, this where she does.In response to the question as to whether first person with multiple people works, it does. So long as it is clear who is "speaking". The technique of putting the character name in the chapter title works fine.

Very Enternaining book
As usual Nuttalll does not disappoint on his story telling . It grabs you and pulls you in to the plots and subplots very nicely. Do not miss this one.

Amazing author amazing books
I love Christopher nuttalls books, he manages to layer them with history, politics (without making it boring), relationships, magic and so much more. I've read the zero series and schooled in magic series all the way through more times then I can count and everytime I find something I missed that peaks my interest not only do you get excellent stand alone books but there is always a layer of storyline that links them together in a way that makes you question the points made but it all comes together. My favourite author of all time. A must read if you enjoy books that are a mix of easy reading but complex.

Very interesting start of the 2nd trilogy
It was nice to see Cat in action again after she had only limited appearances in the books before, it at all.And I really didn't see coming what she found

Good answers and more questions
Could not stop reading til very late in the night. Had a bad day after that but it was worth it. Got answers to a lot of questions and that's really great. Chris makes us live in a very original world of magic technology and adventure which are blending together just like a very potent and well made potion. Cannot wait to read the next chapters. Thanks Chris for hours of entertainment and great pleasure.

A great new story line
Chris has done it again! This story is based on an entirely unexpected idea with a great story line. It’s a great read. Love it when authors have a brand new idea in a good series of stories. Thank you.
