Hamster & Rat Cage Grosvenor 78 x 48 x 36cm - Grey | Little Friends

Putting it together: I found this fairly simple - I did have the added benefit of an additional person to help me with holding the pieces in place as I fastened it all together but the instructions were clear and it didn't take more than 5 minutes. Size: this cage is large, it can easily fit a few small rodents comfortably with plenty of room for toys/ play(although I've had issues with gerbils in anything other than glass bottomed cages as they chew through absolutely everything). I would also add that it's reasonably tall, which is great as I've had issues with anything that's suspended from the top/ hanging toys but this cage means there is enough space for hanging toys without it affecting the floor area. Quality: Honestly it's a lot higher quality than I expected for the price. It's sturdy and when together it's easy enough to take about without everything falling apart. The only real issue I have with this cage is how lose the clips are (when not holding the cage together) as I can easily see myself losing them when cleaning out the cage. Overall: I'd definitely recommend this cage, at the price is it currently its a good deal (around £35) give you'll spend may £10 less for a cage half the size. The lid is huge which makes swapping toys out, topping out the food and water as easy as can be. I haven't had any issues with the wood absorbing the smell of urine (but to be fair I did read the reviews of others having the issues and I coat it in sawdust although this may potentially become a problem as time goes by.

This is a great product. Above all it provides a good amount of space for the hamster, which is a priority. It has a bigger floor area than the vast majority of cages on the market. It is easy enough to assemble for my 12 year old daughter to do it. Cleaning is easy and, although some people have criticised the base as being insufficiently sturdy, it is perfectly strong enough for the job and it is light and easy to clean. I was sceptical about the wooden shelf and whether it would be easy to clean, but so far it has cleaned up really well and is a nice surface for the hamster. The house and wheel provided are too small for a Syrian hamster (note to manufacturer: dont include the house, but provide a good 8inch wheel). We replaced the wheel with a larger one and Fudge, the hamster, happily made his bed under the shelf, saving floor space and need for a house. The roof is hinged, so it is easy to lift your hamster out and put him or her back, but the clever design makes it hard for the hamster to escape even with the lid up. We purchased a couple of tubes and suspended these with plastic ties from the bars (see picture) to add interest to the cage for Fudge, but that's all. I consider this as one of the best hamster cages we have had (and we have had lots of them) and, as you can see, Fudge likes it too!

A pretty decent cage if I say so myself! I had no issues with delivery, it came all in one piece, and was pretty easy to put together. It's sturdy, the base is deep which allows for either a lot of sawdust/whatever shavings you use OR for a small amount which would prevent your little furry friend from pushing it out of the bars. My few issues are 1. the two clips on the side are pretty... loose. They don't really hold the cage together at all, which is not much of an issue for me because my hamster is not the child of the Hulk, but for some people I can see it could create a bothersome situation. Then there's 2. the ladder, it's actually too smooth for my hamster to walk up it, he slips down and eventually has to climb the bars to get up onto the little wooden platform. I could probably sand it down or something to make it rougher but he manages, somehow. 3. The wooden platform itself.. frankly it's a pain. It's difficult to get it onto the bars correctly, and once it's actually on them it's pretty hard to get it off without hurting yourself. And a tip to anyone, don't give your pet in this cage fresh strawberries ON the wooden platform or, like me, you'll end up with tiny red footprints resembling blood being trailed behind your hamster, and they will NEVER come off. Ever. Trust me Other than those few things, it's decent at least. It'll get the job done, the bars and roof come off super easy in one piece when you need to clean the base, and the entire roof opens up instead of a tiny little door for your hamster to learn how to open, which makes picking up your hammy easy peasy, not to mention it's so roomy for many toys!! Though the wheel and house are pretty much too small for syrians, and my ham actually ripped the house apart on purpose and it can be a bit sharp around the edges, so I took it out. Only keep the wheel if you have tiny tiny rodents.

This is a fantastic cage and great value for money. The cage part arrives flat and needs building but that is easy enough to put together. It is very spacious so love that we can add tunnels and bridges. The top lid opening is very secure with good clips to close it and you get full peace of mind that your hamster will NOT be able to escape. It's best propped up a wall when opening the lid to give it some support. You DON'T have the small little access doors- which is better as hamsters can work out how to open them. You need to buy a drink bottle which sits better fastened to the inside of the cage rather than the outside. My only negative was the house and wheel that comes with it. The house is made of cheap plastic and the lid kept popping off. The hamster was stressed when she got stuck in it so we immediately went out and got another house - a coconut shell, which she loves. Also the wheel broke after one night of use - the hamster must have ran a bit too fast for it and it snapped off - so I would also recommend buying a better quality wheel straight away. But don't let those 2 items put you off the cage as overall we love the cage. We had 2 as one for my daughter and they are the best cages we've brought for previous hamsters.

Excellent cage for my syrian hamster. I bought it almost a year ago and I haven't had any problems with it. It is sturdy and there is no way she could escape from this cage (unlike my experiences with the habitrail ovo loft). The assembly wasn't overly difficult, the instructions were clear. I have the version with 1 floor, and it is a great size as syrians need a lot of space to be happy. The house and wheel included aren't big enough for a syrian, however there is plenty of room to use a different house and a larger wheel (up to 12inches) bought separately. I also like that the base is deep which means the sawdust doesn't cause so much mess! Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend for a syrian hamster.

Great item worth the money and Syrians hamster loves it! Big in size and allows borrowing and stops monkey barring. Wheel was too small and house. First came broken and I returned it and seller gave back straight away with no false. Can't fit 12 inch wheels so had to get smaller. Other than that it was great

This is a fantastic cage for our little Syrian hamster; I would thoroughly recommend it! The cage has plenty of space for our hamster to run around and to fit in lots of different toys for him to play with. There is also enough height to accommodate a 28cm Trixie wheel for him to run in comfortably, without arching his back. The huge opening roof is great for accessing the hamster and the entire cage, to change over toys etc. It's a very easy cage to clean out. The cage came well packed and was easy to build. There was a crack in the plastic border of the roof, but Amazon replaced this immediately - excellent customer service; thank you! I'm just disappointed there wasn't another cage available as we would really like another! The deep base is fantastic as it prevents the shavings falling out and making a mess.

I really do like this. Whilst it’s just slightly under what a Syrian hamster should be in size wise, I found after putting loads of enrichment and deep bedding she’s really happy in there, no signs of stress. I usually put some tunnels at the bottom and she’s been burrowing in there to sleep at night. I’m able to fit everything she needs including a sand bath, wheel etc. The great thing about this cage is the top. It’s two rotating locks and you can open the entire top in one go which is great for getting stuff in and out and also makes bonding a lot easier. You can also add loads of customisable stuff, for example I’ve got her a ledge she likes to snack on that is easy to attach to the bars, and I’ve put a bridge around the edges of the top section so I can fill it up with sand and more bedding! The only downside is the size. Whilst my hamster isn’t showing any signs of stress, it is a bit tight trying to add wheels (28cm+) in and I’d like to give her a bit more room when she’s older. For now though it makes a great cage. She really does enjoy it - I’d love one 100cm long for her that would be perfect as it’s SO easy to open and put stuff in for her. A really great starter cage that is easy to put together and looks quite stylish too! :)

A distanza di un anno, scrivo la recensione di questa gabbia, secondo me perfetta.! Ha in pratica tutte le doti che cercavo, semplicità, spazio, e materiali, in più è anche molto bella da vedere, semplicissima nelle operazioni quotidiane ( inserire il mangiare, la pulizia quotidiana, ecc ecc ), L'apertura della griglia superiore, è fantastica, permette di fare qualsiasi intervento in pratica, senza la necessità di dividerla in due, e quindi lasciando lo smontaggio vero della gabbia, quando si deve sostituire tutto ( paglia, sabbia, ecc...), insomma le grandi pulizie.

Es una jaula ideal para mi hamster ya que es bastante grande y caben todos los accesorios que necesita y esta bien pensada para ellos y le encanta dormir abajo en la casita que viene y lo unico que cuesta un poco montarla.

ich habe diesen Kaefig aus Deutschland bestellt, weil es hier in Canada leider nur sehr sehr kleine unpraktische Kaefige fuer Hamster gibt. Wir haben einen Winter-White-Zwerghamster und finden er verdient etwas besseres. Wie diesen tollen Kaefig. Ich hatte zuerst Bedenken, dass der kleine Kerl sich durch die Staebe quetschen und verduften wuerde. Aber die Abstaende zwischen den Gitterstaeben sind ausreichend schmal. Die Hauptteile des Kaefigs ( der Boden und Teile des Deckels) sind aus einem etwas weicherem hochwertigen Plastik. Rad und Haeuschen sind aus durchsichtigem Hartplastik.Wir hatten bereits ein groesseres Rad und auch ein Haeuschen, ich weiss also nicht ob unser Hamster sie angenommen haette. Der Kaefig ist geraeumig, leicht auf zu bauen und zu reinigen. Spielzeuge lassen sich gut befestigen und auch die grosse Deckeltuer finde ich sehr praktisch. Er bietet durch seine Geraeumigkeit viele Moeglichkeiten fuer kraetive Kaefiggestaltung. Wir haben ihn relativ hoch mit recyclter Papier-Streu gefuellt und viele Kuechenrollen-"Tunnel" dabei verlegt, durch die wir ihn flitzen hoeren. Aber auch "ueberirdisch" ist viel Platz schon allein durch die einhaengbare Etage. Unser Hamster jedenfalls fuehlt sich sehr wohl als der "Duke of Grosvenor" ;)
