I think I may have a thermometer fetish...I've ordered a dozen thermometers over the past five years, and have very particular tastes. I ordered this one because it gets so many great reviews on Amazon, but when I use it, the beeps indicating it's in use are anemic, and the temperature readings vary from 96.6 to 98.2 within a minute or two of one another, and differ from my other thermometers (including my favorite, the Vicks Comfortflex, around the same price). It also takes much longer than the Vicks, which would be okay if it were consistently accurate, but the Vicks seems to give me better readings within 15 seconds or so. UPDATE: I sent the first one back and Amazon immediately replaced it (love Amazon!). The second one is just as inconsistent as the first one, and both read a full degree and a half below all my other thermometers (yes, I have multiple thermometers). Both are going back to Amazon today. I'm through with this brand.

Perfect for puppy first aid kit. May not need it a lot, but when I do it is better to be prepared just as we are for our kids.

Good value. Works accurately

I bought this in hopes it is a little more durable than the typical horse thermometer. The glass ones are one and gone if they drop.

This thermometer was off by 2 degrees based on a comparison with one that I know is accurate. Besides that, after it detects a temp that is over the norm for humans, all it shows is HI, no identification of actual temperature. And the beep is undetectable. I tried using it both ways in the instructions - turning it on and then placing it, and placing it and then turning it on. Useless purchase. I returned it.
