Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller Dr. Izabella Wentz, the author of the phenomenal New York Times bestseller Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, returns with a long-awaited, groundbreaking prescription to reverse the symptoms of this serious autoimmune disease that is becoming one of the country’s fastest growing diseases. More than thirty-five million Americans currently suffer from Hashimoto’s—an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid gland, leading to hypothyroidism and causing the body to attack its own cells. To alleviate the symptoms of this debilitating condition—including chronic cough, acid reflux, IBS, allergies, chronic pain, hair loss, brain fog, and forgetfulness—patients are often prescribed synthetic hormones that have numerous life-altering side effects. But there is a better way. Diagnosed with Hashimoto’s at twenty-seven, pharmacist Dr. Izabella Wentz knows first-hand the effects of the disease, as well as the value—and limitations—of medication. The key to improved thyroid health, she argues, involves lifestyle interventions. In Hashimoto’s Protocol, her proven 90-day plan outlines a treatment that has helped thousands heal and many others feel better—in as fast as ninety days. Drawing on her own personal experience as well as her work consulting with thousands of patients, Hashimoto’s Protocol offers a practical pathway for healing and reversing the autoimmune damage by treating the root cause of the disease. The first step is a quick-start two-week detox that includes foods to eat and inflammatory foods to avoid, advice on supplements for comprehensive liver support, and an adrenal recovery plan. Next, readers create a personalized plan with foods, supplements, and other lifestyle interventions tailored to their body’s own unique Hashimoto’s triggers, which they can identify using self-tests included in the book. Hashimoto’s Protocol also features original recipes. Grounded in the latest science and a functional medicine approach, Hashimoto’s Protocol is the first book to offer a proven protocol by an acknowledged expert in the field to treat this condition and help sufferers reclaim their lives. This practical guide provides a clear path to reclaiming your health and includes: A 90-Day Plan to Reverse Symptoms: Discover the step-by-step program that has helped thousands reduce chronic fatigue, brain fog, hair loss, and other debilitating symptoms in as little as three months. Three Foundational Protocols: Start with a two-week detox to support the liver, followed by plans to recover adrenal function and restore gut balance—the keys to addressing the autoimmune damage at its source. Personalized Lifestyle Interventions: Use the included self-tests to identify your body’s unique triggers and tailor a plan with specific foods, supplements, and lifestyle changes for lasting relief. From a Patient and Expert: Learn from pharmacist Dr. Izabella Wentz, who draws on her own healing journey and clinical work with thousands to offer a proven path to feeling better. Practical Resources to Get Started: Includes delicious original recipes and clear advice on which supplements to use, taking the guesswork out of your recovery. Review: Definitely worth a read - Great tips and advice to get you on the track to changing different things in your life which can help with how you feel. I'm yet to have a blood tests and appointment with my doctor after I've started implementing the recommendations but feeling hopeful. Easy to understand and follow explanations of the condition, why we suffer from it, etc. It's step by step, what you need to do so you can alleviate symptoms and influence your condition. I'd definitely recommend the book and I'm still working through it (currently halfway through). It repeated a lot of what my doctor is saying - like remove stress, no toxins, etc. - however, what was missing is how do I go about achieving that and understanding the basics of the condition. The book has given me a different way of looking at things and now I'm a lot more aware of the various toxins we consume daily and don't even realise. However, there's some things to keep in mind. I'd say some prep before starting each of the fundamental protocols may be helpful. There's three and you're supposed to implement each protocol for a certain amount of time. I found I don't have a lot of what is needed to cook some of the foods. E.g. I didn't have a blender for smoothies. In addition, there's so many things you can do, at some point I just decided to apply what I can at this moment and keep the rest for reference in the future (which I think the author has also suggested in the book so this is not criticism, just my thoughts about the book). E.g. in terms of changing toiletries and cleaning products, I'd rather gradually buy products than go on a shopping spree to find the right natural products for so many things at once. I appreciate the idea of the book is to give clear guidance and steps to take but I felt I can't do it all. So I'm sharing this so you know and have the right expectations. You're definitely making a difference even if you start implementing some of the suggestions. Review: This is what I've been waiting for! - I have been waiting for a couple of months for this book to come out and I am delighted to say that it has met all my expectations. I have read Dr Wentz's 'Root Cause' book, and made beneficial changes to my diet and nutrition as a result, and I was hoping that Hashimoto's Protocol would provide me with a step by step guide to promoting healing in the parts of my body that have been affected by Hashimoto's, and that is exactly what it does! As well as providing three fundamental healing protocols for the liver, adrenals and gut, the book also addresses issues such as traumatic stress, tackling infections and removing toxins. Dr Wentz presents a detailed review of the treatment protocols in a very understandable way. It's really important to me to know why I am following a particular treatment as well as how to go about it. Dr Wentz explains the research but doesn't get bogged down in it. She also lets her personality come through, and her approach is practical and down-to-earth. This book is both accessible and scholarly. So far I have read the chapters about the liver and the adrenal and I can't wait to get going. It all seems very do-able and I love that there is a prescribed timescale, and scope for individual preference and choice. Best of all, Dr Wentz provides a voice of reason: she favors the use of foods, supplements, lifestyle changes and natural remedies in healing, while at the same time explaining the role of medical drugs, and her recommendations are based on the scientific research.

Easy to understand and full of information and hope!
I was so happy when I read this book. It has all the information in it that our doctors should know but don't. It really explains how Hashimoto's develops and all the possible contributing factors. It even addresses all the problems that we have to deal with in daily life and how we are coping emotionally with life and illness. The sections about minset and trauma really spoke to me and gave me hope that change is possible and can make a world of difference. And it builds on Izabella's first book, which is a great place to start. This book gives you tools to look after yourself, things you can do at home. This book is going to be so helpful to those of us who are struggling with unhelpful doctors that dismiss you without even hearing you out. The first book already helped me so much - my TPO antibodies dropped from 300 to 75 in 3 years, so I'm hoping that by using the protocols in this book I'll be able to drop below the threshold of 35 back into normality. The path is laid out step by step, which suits me - I'm no good with cold turkey. I'm really looking forward to getting started on the process. It feels easy and doable and best of all natural.

Truly epic book for all Hashimoto's sufferers
This a truly epic book for anyone diagnosed with an underactive thyroid as 90% of people whose doctor tells them they have an underactive thyroid, actually have a serious auto immune disease called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. And the standard treatment of prescribing the drug Thyroxine does little to address the many and various aspects of this disease. Isabella Wentz has gone on a one woman crusade to empower anyone who has Hashimoto's to find out what is the root cause of their illness and, more importantly, what to do about it. This a factual, extremely well researched book backed up by solid scientific research throughout. It shines a bright light into the often dark world of suffering from this misunderstood condition. We in the Hashimoto's community owe Izabella Wentz a debt of gratitude for her pioneering work on our behalf. This book is easy to understand and very practical, full of helpful suggestions on how to modify both diet and lifestyle and what supplements to take so as to be able to begin the journey back to health.

Interesting but not the definitive cure.
As many American books, they indulge too much in personal experiences and other people experiences until it gets to what is interesting about the condition. The diets are questionable. Other books give advices that contradict this book.As all sufferers of the condition is good to read as much as possible, so it is valuable to read it, but it does not give you the definitive solution.

Ideal Companion to The Root Cause
I read Dr Wentz’s first book, The Root Cause, 4 years ago. It was the first book I had read not only by a professional who understands that we need to address the autoimmune aspect but is also a patient herself. I believe this gives her a unique perspective and insight because she truly understands what it is to live with this condition on a day to day basis. Hashimoto’s Protocol is an ideal companion to that first book. It allows the reader to take all the information from the first book and to develop their own, personal 12 week program to recover their health and discover their own root cause. For those who are also newly diagnosed and/or new to AIP, this is an excellent introduction and takes you through easy to follow steps to getting the right testing, finding a practitioner who can help you to step by step meal prep to ensure you stay on track with all aspects of your protocol. By learning how to support your liver, adrenals and improve your gut health, to the more advanced protocols, it is a formula to enable your body to start resetting and healing itself.

HEAVEN-SENT GUIDE For HASHIMOTO'S
The protocols contained in the book are very substantive and provide explicit direction for those with Hashimoto's. It is a rare functional medicine physician or endocrinology specialist who possesses even a quarter of the knowledge contained in Dr. Wentz's book. What I like most of all is that you are provided with specific options for supplements and measures to address intestinal permeability, for liver support and for adrenal sufficiency. You may even access certain diagnostic tests to which the author provides useful links. Another recent NY Times bestseller that I purchased on thyroid conditions did not disclose as much helpful information. The emphasis in this book on healing the microbiome and restoring the gut, intestines etc.,with additional information provided by Dr. Wentz, accessible via her website, blogs and news updates, is exceedingly helpful. The moment I received the book,I read it from cover to cover - and, I am on my third reading now, with marked up and dog-eared pages. My entire family is benefiting from meals and smoothies taken from the pages of the book, as well as from Dr. Wentz's Autoimmune Paleo Diet meal plan.I highly recommend these protocols to anyone who even suspects they may have hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's. This book should be obligatory reading for all medical students and for family physicians and specialists! From the time that I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition to being diagnosed with Hashimoto's took 31 years! Dr. Wentz's book, with its excellent description of tell-tale Hashimoto's symptoms, would have enabled me to secure earlier treatment and diagnosis had it been available previously.
