The perfect tape measure. Solid, large, long & strong. Love it!

A well produced tape, with excellent stand off of over eight or nine feet, making single handed measurements at long distances easy. It has a firm lock mechanism and it's rewind is positive. It has clear markings 16 " centers in red as are every 100mm with 19 & ⅜" centers for truss work hilighted with a black diamond.

Good measuring tape but I find it a little heavy.

You won’t need another measuring tape. Stanley (imo) is unbeatable, and the fatmax is about as indestructible as they get. If you do DIY once every 5 years you can probably get away with a cheaper brand or model, but if you want something sturdy that’s built to last then this is amazing. So much so that when I lost my last one I bought it again, and have bought it for others as gifts too.

I’ve been using the Stanley FatMax 8m tape measure for a while now and it’s easily one of the best tape measures I’ve owned. The build quality feels very solid and durable, and it’s clearly designed to handle regular site use without feeling flimsy. One of the standout features is the blade standout. I can extend it several meters without it bending, which makes solo measuring much easier when you don’t have someone holding the other end. The markings are clear and easy to read, even in lower light, and the blade coating seems to resist wear well. The case has a nice rubberized grip which makes it comfortable to hold and less likely to slip out of your hand. The lock mechanism also feels firm and reliable—once locked, the tape doesn’t creep back in like cheaper models. The belt clip is sturdy and holds well, and the tape retracts smoothly without snapping back too aggressively. Overall, this is a tough, reliable tape measure that’s perfect for DIY, construction, or general household use. It costs a bit more than basic tape measures, but the durability and ease of use make it well worth it. I’d definitely buy it again.

When I was in construction, as a young man, we needed tapes that would be able to hold straight for at least ten feet, and a wide tape will help you do this. I am very satisfied with it. I especially like how the first five or so inches of the tape have an extra clear mylar layer.

I've been buying Stanley tape measures since before FAT MAX existed. That's how loyal and committed I am to this brand. I actually made money surveying so I have a collection of yellow Stanley tape measures. I needed a 16 foot model, this is the first time. I usually buy longer models, and luv this unit. It's compact and fits in my hand like I'm about to throw a spit ball. Thank you Stanley 😊

at first seemed a great tape looked strong like it should be 3 days I'm use I clip the tape on where i wanted to start my measurement ie corner of a plaster wall I pulled to 2.5m wen t mark wall gave little stretch to get exact measurement the metal top came off the tape so easy it was laughable I was stunned
