PROZOR 192kHz DAC Converter, Optical & Coaxial to RCA L/R and 3.5mm Output

I used this as an optical (digital) from an LG television to phono/RCA (analogue) to a Cambridge amplifier (which was on offer) to a couple of old but unused Tandy/Realistic speakers. My soundbar was too temperamental using HDMI/Bluetooth or Optical (the three outputs/inputs available between the LG television and LG Soundbar). Using the tv over broadband only (don't know if that's part of the issue). The problem was that whatever I tried couldn't get a clear sound (volume/clarity etc) between different app sources. The has solved the issue for me. I now have simple control over the sound. It is clearly to do with a very good amp and dare I say it a couple of very good speakers. That said, the Prozor DAC is playing its part as well. Audiophiles on Youtube and the like, speak in terms of DACs that cost in the hundreds. In fairness, they are talking about music over various interfaces to the Cambridge and then on via very expensive speaker wire to even more expensive speakers. Their systems are all at least £1K to £1.5K whereas mine for my purposes was about £350 all in (I had the speakers from a purchase in the late seventies). This unit works and costed very little so it has to get a five star review.

Got this little gizmo, because the CD player in my Panasonic SA-AKX52 hi fii had packed up. My choice was try and repair or replace the CD player, buy a separate player, for which I would need another electric socket or find a way to get my Sony BDPS4100 Smart 3D Blu-ray Disc Player to play through my non smart hi-fi so I could use that to listen to CDs. Problem was, my BD player, only had a digital coaxial output and my LG TV only had one SPDIF/Toslink digital output. My hi-fi had neither of these as inputs. I already had my Tivo box connected to my hi-fi by a scart multi connector, which also converted the audio, to standard stereo audio phono/RCA plugs, which then connected to the hi-fi. The blu ray player and TiVo were connected to the LG TV by HDMI leads. This little box solved and simplified, the whole mess. It comes with two leads one USB to DC barrel type connector cable and one optical (also known as SPDIF or Toslink) cable. What you do is plug the USB lead into a USB socket on your TV. (If your TV doesn't have one, you will have to get a separate one that plugs into the mains or use a USB socket from another device such as a play station, lap top etc.) The USB supplies the power (5 volts) to the unit. A red light will come on, telling you the unit is now receiving power. Then you plug the the SPDIF/Toslink lead into your TV and the other end into the Prozor DAC unit.. Then using two standard audio phono/RCA leads, connect the phono sockets on the unit, to the phono/RCA /Aux IN sockets on your hi-fi. (These phono/RCA leads DON'T come with the unit, you have to supply these yourself) That's it... Now any digital audio, that is coming into your TV from HDMI connectors or other inputs, will be output to the unit from your TV converted to analogue and sent to your non-digital hifi.. Before, when I had my TiVo connected to the hi-fi by scart, when I used my blu ray player, I had to use my less than ideal TV speakers to listen to the audio on films, as the blu ray player had no scart or phono out sockets. Now I can use my hi-fi speakers if I want to. I am only using the SPDIF/Toslink socket on the unit, to connect to my TV and hence Blu Ray player and TiVo box, to my hi-fi. It also has a digital coaxial socket, so if I wished, I could connect my blu ray or any other device with a coaxial digital out socket, directly to the unit and hence to the non-smart analogue hi-fi if I wanted to. It has an autosense input selection, which prioritise the SPDIF/Toslink connectio, so this must be disabled/disconnected to use the digital coaxial one. Very pleased with this device. Unit itself, is sturdy and well made, leads are not particularly long (not an issue if you are plugging them both into the same TV) The SPDIF/Toslink lead, is maybe not the sturdiest I have ever seen but if you are not going to be plugging and unplugging it a lot, then that shouldn't be an issue. With digital leads, they either work or they don't, they are not like analogue leads where you sometimes get a bit of power through but not ALL of it. with digital leads you get ALL or NONE. These worked right away no problems whatsoever. Sound quality, seems very good. I played various sources, through the unit. CD, mp3s from USB stick, SD card, from USB converter,YouTube etc and they all worked. The levels seemed fairly consistent, going to the hi-fi and of course you control the main volume from that volume control, there is no volume control on the unit. All in all very pleased with this little device.

Works well and sound quality seems good but audio output is low and unajustable , my JBL is in full volume to get a reasonable sound using the 3.5 mm stereo cable. It comes with optical cable and USB cable both about 700 mm. For the price it does what it says.

I wanted to run the optic sound connection into a rather old hi fi amp and speakers. I connected the tv to the unit and then to the rca inputs on the video channel of my kenwood amp. A little fiddling with sound settings on the tv and I have strong sound for movies. Easy cheap and functional. Five stars. Power extra 😂 but also cheap.

This is one sweet D/A Converter, especially if you are using new tech with old school amps etc. I needed an D/A Converter for my new Samsung TV as it only has optical/digital out but I wanted to run the TV output to my trusty old Denon PMA-450 "Special Edition" which only has Phono plugs, this little box was set up in about 10 mins and operational in no time with literally no effort other than switching from TV Speaker to Audio Out/Digital on the TV. Once I knew it was working I also tweaked my TV settings to purely use PCM as suggested by other reviewers, as a side note you can also use Dolby Digital option on the Samsung instead of PCM. My TV defaults at 80ms delay on the digital output which seems to be a perfect "sync" speed for this unit so there was no twiddling to get things to sync on video's etc. + Metal Construction, nice and tough and doesn't look cheap as its got an excellent finish to it . + Good quality leads and connections + Easy Instructions (manual in various languages) - Doesn't state USB consumption, so use your highest Amp rated USB just in case, but can't see this using more than 0.5A anyhow. / Would be nice if it came with it's own 5V power adaptor, but what can you expect for such a bargain and besides most uses for this would be for TV's etc. with built in USB's.

I got this to improve the sound from my lg tv (which has down firing speakers like most flat screens!?) that is fine for everyday programmes but needs a bit more oomph when watching action movies and music dvd's and programmes with music in. As i already own a hifi stacker i thought this would be cheaper than forking out for an expensive soundbar. You get a digital optical cable and a usb power lead in with the converter, its easy to set up as long as you have digital out or coaxial connection on your TV and a usb port to power the unit. I used a 3.5mm to 2 x rca lead to connect it to my stereo via the video input (but you can use any rca input) which i have by the side of the tv, and the speakers sit either side. I tried a 2 x rca to 2 x rca lead but there was no difference in quality. Sound from the telly is now good through my twenty year old stereo but like some have said these aren't audiophile quality but it doesn't matter when most freeview programmes are broadcast in little more than mp3 quality anyway! This option is the best way to improve the sound coming from your tv as it is cheaper than expensive soundbars as most people have a stereo near the tv anyway. Recommended.

Works for a while an after stops!

Well what can I say about this little box of wonder, well for a start for only £7.99 you can transform any 3.5mm analogue jack into fiber optic digital audio, which producers a much clearer and all round better experience. I've tried this on my 4K TV which has both 3.5mm & optical inputs just to see if this little box works and to see if the optical audio is better than using the 3.5mm input jack, I can say without question yes the optical audio sounds a lot better. Best of all this is in 100% sync using this box the lip sync is spot on, and I've been watching quite a lot of TV using this with a set of "Sony MDR-RF895RK Home Wireless Headphones" and again this is totally in sync with everything I've watched on TV. I would highly recommend purchasing this "PROZOR 192kHz DAC Converter Digital SPDIF Toslink to Analog Stereo Audio R/L Converter Adapter" and for only £7.99 you have nothing to lose. It comes with it's own fiber optic cable (but I've used my more expensive one) and a power cable which has a USB end to it so I've just connected this to a spare USB input on my 4k TV, which also works spot on to power this little box of wonder up. Hope this review helps others out who have bought a new TV which hasn't got a 3.5mm input on there TV but has got a optical input and they want to use there best headphones be it wireless or cable, this little box for only £7.99 will sort this problem out.

Solidly built out of aluminum, comes with a digital audio cable that works well so it's not necessary to buy a separate one, inputs are clearly labeled. Plug and play, very easy to operate. When connecting to a TV if you don't hear sound coming out of your speakers you may need to go into your settings and set your output to digital output or PCM to get it to send the sound to the DAC. The only downside to this unit is that it doesn't have any volume controls, so some TVs will output a set volume with no way to control it from the TV end of things once they are set to digital output, such means you'll need some kind of line level volume control. If you've got a sound bar or an amp then you'll control volume through that but if you are doing what I did and making a diy 3.1 stereo setup you'll need something separate to control volume. They make Dacs that have this ability, though they cost a bit more. All in all functioned exactly how I expected, around quality was good and I was satisfied with this purchase.

Product works very well

I am not sure how this item got any good reviews. I cant find any info about prozor as a manufacturer It looks like an oem of some sort and it is made in china. I wasted time returning this

It works as expected. They mention PCM but there might be other features in your sound settings that you need to tweak. Don't lose faith.
