Very nice looking kettle bought to replace our old kettle which is no longer available. However, pleased with Russell Hobs, it’s boils the water quickly and is light in weight. Money well spent. Recommended

We live in a hard water area and for many years have bought Brita kettles because of their inbuilt filter. This is the 1st time I have come across a Russell Hobbs branded one. Russell Hobbs is a brand I have known for many years and consider them to produce electrical goods that are generally good value for money. Positives: 360-degree swivel is good, no need to think. Concealed element gives more protection against limescale. Good price and included a filter. Produces clean, clear water for hot beverages no nasty scum. Lights up blue to indicate it is on, which is also an attractive feature. The body of the kettle doesn’t get too hot to touch when boiled. Easy to pour. The cartridge change indicator appears to work well, usually about 4 weeks for us. The power cable is a reasonable 65cm in length. 2-year guarantee with an extra 1 if registered. Negatives Looks cheaper and less sturdy than my previous models. No automatic button to lift the lid for filling which I miss and is a little annoying. Very occasionally fails to turn off and keeps boiling. Neutral 1.5L is a reasonable capacity, 1 Litre boil capacity, and 0.5 Litre hopper (the top where you pour water into) capacity, especially as there are just two of us in the household. You should consider a larger kettle if there are more of you. Because of the filter, you have to fill the kettle with a slow-running tap to get to capacity, otherwise, the hopper fills too quickly.

Very happy with this kettle. Ignore the reviews that say it’s just like a cheap plastic jug. The thing is it does the job very well, It’s true my first impressions were it looked like a cheap plastic jug. But it’s not really noticeable once in use and it works really well! And definitely works to remove like scale and even fine sediment. And for that reason I love it! I like that it’s clear and you can see the water inside. It boils quickly and is easy to pour from.

The design is great, this is my second filtering kettle, it is far easier to clean and better weighted than the last. I don't mind waiting for the water to filter (about 1 minute per filter chamber, which is just over 1 cup), and if I really wanted I could pull the filter chamber out and filter into a jug for chilling fresh water for the fridge, it does stand up on its own. It boils efficiently and fast, and it is not too heavy and clunkily weighted when the water is in the chamber. So on all those levels, I like it. The taste of the water in the north west of England is far nicer than a lot of the rest of the UK, it is a soft, slightly sweet taste... until you add into it double chlorination from being between two reservoirs under different company administration, and what that does to your pipes -- phenols -- and also the supply coming through ancient lead pipes, under gardens, to an old cottage that no one replaced. So this kettle, and any water filter, really does remove the jarring bleachy chemically blurk, and if the science is to be believed I don't need to worry about the lead. WOOT! My tea is a lovely orange, the water is fresh and slightly sweet, as I'd expect. There is a BUT, of course. As you see from the picture, I would have preferred one without the dent. Great design, pity about the quality control. I suspect this is one someone sent back, and sure I wouldn't have wanted a dented one as a gift for someone else, but it is my birthday present to me, so because it doesn't leak and it still works I have kept it. Bear in mind, I didn't get a discount for the dent and this is the second prodcut from Amazon recently that I kept and paid full price for, but really should be a second.

The item was generally good except that the filter given was spoilt with all the black stones inside the kettle. If I knew that was going to happen I'd just spend a few more quids to buy a new one entirely than save some pounds.

It’s a bit small and water takes time to filter through.

Didn’t realise the kettle would be plastic until I received it. There’s a more expensive version with glass. The Brita filter does not fit in as snugly as it should without the risk of breaking the appliance. I use brita filters already and their appliances require you to press the filter in until almost a click, but with this, it’s not strong enough and therefore a good chance water will bypass the filter. Disappointed, I’m sure it’ll work but can’t really see it lasting too long. Better keep the box as I think there’s a 3 year guarantee.
