Where are the blocks made in?

Unfortunately, like everything, China. They are beautifully made. 

What kind of paint is used on these blocks?

Thank you for your interest. They were made with water-based paints. Here's the link to the testing report. http://www.hapetoys.com/downloads/Test%20reports/U.S.%20Reports%20-%20ASTM%20963/E0409%20Maple%20Blocks%20ASTM%20F963-2011%2020140423.pdf

We recommend cleaning to be done with a soft damp cloth using a mild soap. Use of bleach or harsh chemicals can damage the finish or paint. Do not immerse wooden parts in water.
