Will charge a completely dead battery.
Brilliant bit of kit, actually works. I am always sceptical of these units and went for a brand that is well known and trusted, and I am glad I did. I have a 2.2l Diesel and it started it first time, so power wise, no issues. Really easy to use, simple to charge. Comes with a small bag to store everything in, which is nice. Cable lengths are short but not an issue. My car's negative point is covered in my car so the leads were long enough for me to connect to a grounding point and the positive point on the battery. Kit seems robust enough so should be pretty durable, it doesn't feel cheap.

It starts engines and it’s handy for camping
I’ve had this for a couple of years now so have had chance to use it now and again. It started my wife’s (1.4L petrol) engine immediately when the car battery went flat, and again the next day, without a recharge in between. I had less luck trying to start the 2L petrol on a Mazda I had SORNed for two years during the pandemic - but it turned out the battery on that was completely gone (along with the bodywork of the car, sadly). So it definitely works for jump starts but it’s not going to provide you with a miracle. I have also taken this battery on a few camping trips. Its solid, rugged design makes it much better suited to tent life than are those slim portable batteries designed for business trips. It also has a decent torch built-in, and you can never have too many of them when you’re camping. I’d estimate it can recharge a modern iPhone from almost dead to full approx three times along with occasional use as a torch - so it can supply a family for a night or two, provided the kids are round the campfire not hiding in the tents on their iPads. You probably wouldn’t want to use it heavily for camping, as like any battery it may degrade to the point where the primary car start function fails, but it’s a nice bonus. I’m pleased with this purchase. It’s a handy device to keep in the boot of your car at all times and has the bonus capability of providing battery power outdoors. Even if you have other cars around, it’s easier to use this than traditional jump leads: you don’t need to move two cars close enough for the jump leads to reach, or open two car bonnets.

Very capable. There when you need it.
So far, it's saved me from being stranded twice. Why? I have a 20 year old Prius. The 12V battery is fine, new in fact, but it's tiny. It's not much bigger than a motorcycle battery. It usually doesn't need to be. Two weeks ago I made the mistake of listening too long to the radio with engine off and the battery discharged enough that the car wouldn't start. Jump Starter to the rescue! Then while getting the front wheels aligned, the mechanic left the ignition on for about half an hour while he did his thing. Flat battery again, and the Jump Starter pack saved the day! Easy to use. Very portable. Easy to charge via a USB-C connector. Durable... so far. Nicely made and does the job I bought it for perfectly. Twice. Versatile in an emergency. Extra functions include - Power on/off button. Power charge scale. USB-A charging/power output socket. USB-C to USB-C charging cable. "100 lumen" white LED flashlight with different modes: - 3 levels of light intensity. - SOS patterned flashing lights. - constant flashing lights. - semi-random pulse flashing lights (a bit like emergency vehicles). Reverse polarity protection. Flat battery override start. Carry bag. Doesn't need charging as often as lead-acid jump starters and is a small fraction of the weight of such beasts. The downside is that the manual and troubleshooting guides are only available online via a QR code - unhelpfully printed onto the ample multi language "Safety and Warranty Information" doorstop booklet. (Or via on the Amazon listing page)

Didn't need NOCO GB 40 until just recently and wouldnt be without it now
Ordered NOCO GB 40 March 2023 as a back up and had no use for it until recently in September 24. Car needed a jump start after elderly driver got housebound and we had a cold snap followed by storms. Amazingly, it worked first time but we had regularly topped up the battery on the charger every couple of months to make sure it maintained a charge for when we need it. I think if you let it discharge in a cold place you might struggle to get the NOCO to hold a charge again. I would also advise recharging it that same day to make sure it works when you need it. It is really easy to use and takes minutes rather than waiting hours for your breakdown cover to arrive and losing the no callout discount. I've used this twice so far and the first time it took 50% of battery pack charge to start car, but after recharging took significantly less out of the pack for the subsequent jump start where we recently went through a cold snap and storms. I advise giving it a minute when you connect it to give the battery a little charge (on mine there was a ticking sound that indicated something positive was going on) and then take it off immediately after the engine is running. Since then I've also bought a NOCO Genius 2 charger to keep the car battery in optimum condition when its not being used and found since there is no need to jump start. The NOCO GB 40 is a jump starter only it wont repair the condition of your battery you need a trickle charger for that.

Great product!
Great product. Purchases a month ago and it has proved its worth already. Got both myself and a friend out the doghouse both with 2L diesels. Product was a lot smaller than I imagined which is very handy for storage and transportation. Comes in its own bag with a pull toggle to close, being really picky with this but it would have been nice to have a small clip in the pull toggle so that the bag doesn’t open and the power pack fall out everytime it flips upside down in the boot. Starts the car perfectly every time and so far have had no issues.

Worked fine with 2.0 litre petrol
Please note: this review is based on about 1 week of ownership, so does not related to long term sturdiness or performance. Bought this after surveying all the various options and although there are some cheaper, it seemed like this combined the right capacity, additional safety features and clear design for the purpose. (Some cheaper items look like re-purposed phone battery banks, so I was sceptical how good they would be). My car battery suffered a fairly deep discharge during first covid lockdown and although usable, has never really been the same since. It's a heavy duty stop-start battery on a 2.0 Litre petrol. It's had to be charged a couple of times after standing and failing to start the car, and latterly has been showing signs of draining and failing to start the car after just a few days sitting not being used. So, i bought this as a "get of out jail" - especially if I drive somewhere and then the car won't start to come home. I've already had to use it, and I'm pleased to say that after connecting it up, waiting about 20 seconds to go round and get in the car and start it, it started first time. It would be useful if it displayed voltage when attached, then you could assess just how discharged the car battery is, but that's a minor niggle. For example, I don't know if my battery was just under 11v and the car electronics were deliberately preventing it starting, or whether it was much lower. It's really simple to use and the cables, though short, reach fine from the + terminal of the car battery to the -ve post on the engine wall - without anything dangling into the engine bay at risk of getting caught up. I was also impressed with how quickly it charged up. After receipt, and although showing empty, it only took a few hours plugged into a regular 2amp USB socket on my wall to get it fully charged. Then after starting the car a few days later, I simply plugged it into the USB in the car itself while driving and by my destination, it was fully charged up again ready to be used. (A bit "belt and braces" on my part, as after one start, the device was still showing green for the amount of charge left in it) It actually feels fairly sturdy and easy to grip and hold without slipping (more than can be said for some power bank chargers). Obviously I'm not going to deliberately drop it to see if it smashes open or not :) but it seems perfectly fit for purpose. All in all, i'm very pleased with it and the extra piece of mind it gives until I replace my car battery.

Not great...
I bought this to replace a 6 year old, 500A, £45, no-name brand USB jump starter that was still starting the engine first time but only giving me 2 jump starts before needing to be charged, when it previously managed around 10 jumps. Decided to go for Noco as they are so highly rated but should have listened to the bad reviews.... I got the pack fully charged and tried it out on my 2.0L Diesel which regularly goes flat as something drains the battery and it fails to start if not driven every day- really should get it sorted! The Noco failed to start the car twice in normal mode so I turned on the Boost/override mode. This just about got it started but sounded like it struggled. (I waited about 30 seconds each time before starting the car) When I disconnected the charger I noticed it was almost flat with the red light showing, which was quite surprising as it says up to 20 uses between charges. I re-charged the Noco and tried again 2 days later. It took 2 attempts in normal mode this time and drained the pack to 50%. While the Noco did manage to start my car, I am disappointed with the performance and capacity. No idea how anybody could get 20 jump starts out of this and I really doubt the 1000A claims as my old 500A pack started the engine much faster and more reliably- while also lasting much longer! I did research the Noco jump starters before buying and decided on this GB40 pack over the GBX range as the GB(non X) ones are supposed to hold charge longer and give more jumps per charge, so I would definately not recommend the GBX either based off this experience. The GB40 has also been updated/refreshed but the Amazon listing has some conflicting info- I received the new version which includes a USB-C in/out port and a USB-A out port but no 12V lighter socket port or attachment. It also includes a thin fabric carry pouch (useless), a USB-C to C cable (no charging plug included) and the jump leads, which are short but were fine for me. The older version has 2 USB-A ports (1 in/out the other just output), a USB-A to A cable and a 12V lighter socket charger. The USB-C input is 5V 2.1A so no fast charger needed, pretty much any USB capable of charging will support this nowadays. Battery says it is 24Wh. If charging a phone from the USB port @ 5V 2.1A this would give 4800mAh but you would lose some of that as it wouldn't be 100% efficient so not enough to give a full charge on most modern phones. The jump leads seem high quality and have a strong grip. Connecting the leads to the power pack is not as easy as with other jump starters- have to push it quite hard to get it in, and it is not super clear which way round it is supposed to go in as the hole/plug is round-ish with no obvious markings- you have to look at the shape of the terminals inside the plug and socket and match them up (one is round, the other square). Unfortunately the jump starter I was previously using is no longer being sold so I will have to return the Noco and give another brand a try.

Great bit of kit for my Toyota CHR!
Worked perfectly on my Toyota C-HR when the 12V battery went flat. Easy to use and got the car started without any hassle. Definitely gives you peace of mind knowing you have something like this in the car for emergencies. Would recommend!

Every Car Needs This Boost!
In the past, car battery issues were one of my worst nightmares, but not anymore. Thanks to this Noco boost. Where have you been all my life Noco? I’m a lady with little or no knowledge about cars. I drive a 2017 Acura MDX but I was so clueless that during a trip to Ottawa last year, I needed to charge my phone so I decided to charge it while the car was in accessory mode. Yup! And I charged it for 4 hrs and drained my car battery. I panicked when the car didn’t start and called a car towing company. A kind stranger tried to help me start the car with a jumper cable but after several attempts, the car wouldnt start. The towing company sent a guy and he connected a portable object and asked me to start the car and my darling car came back to life. That was the day I realized such a gem existed. I knew I had to get one. Anything to make my life easier. He told me the name and said I could get it on Amazon. I got back to Toronto and ordered my Noco boost but didn’t get to use it until January this year. I travelled for 2 months during winter and when I got back, my car wouldn’t start (the cold sure hates batteries). My noco booster wasn’t charged so while I was charging it, my neighbour tried to help my boost my battery with a jumper cable. Unfortunately, my car stubbornly refused to start and he gave up. I tried to cut corners by using the Noco booster before it was fully charged but my cad wouldn’t start too. So I decided to charge the boost plus overnight to see if it would work. In the morning, I connected the cables using the instructions, turned the boost plus on, counted 30 seconds and tried to start the car again…. And she roared to life immediately. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. I was ecstatic. I drove the car around to warm the battery and my darling car was back to normal. I have not had any cause it use it again but prior to writing this review, I checked the boost and it was still fully charged, despite being in the cold car for 3 months. The long battery life is definitely a plus. Since January, I’ve been a self appointed unpaid NOCO advocate lols. When I like something, you can’t stop me. I’ve told all my siblings and everyone I know about it. But that’s not the best part. The best part about the boost is that I can also use it to charge my phone without running my car battery down or running the car and wasting expensive gas. Life is indeed beautiful (happy dance). The ease of use, convenience, price, long battery life etc makes this a 7 star product. Sadly, Amazon ratings are limited to 5 stars so I’m owing Noco 2 stars for making my life easier lols. If you’re still wondering whether you should get it, wonder no more. I was so impressed that I also got the Noco genius (battery charger). I would leave a detailed review after I have used it.

Funktioniert super
