I really, really, like toast. Good toast. Lovely golden colour, evenly toasted, crisp on the outside, bread still slightly soft in the centre, allowed to cool for a moment... then a generous spread of butter. Mmmm! The best toast is made under a grill, but grills are too slow, expensive and energy innefficient for 1 or 2 slices. So toaster it is. For 50 years I have been trying to find the perfect toaster (not all the time but whenever I needed a new one, you know) - never happened, even the v. expensive ones couldn't match the grill. (Money wasted) How hard can it be? Most of the toasters I have had have found new and creative ways to mess up a simple task i.e. making toast - e.g. uneven, one side more toasted than the other, burnt or underdone whilst using the same setting, stripes, bread does not fit, (yes really) and my favourite - all of the above whilst launching your breakfast across the kitchen straight into the dogs mouth (savvy and waiting for it). So.. Old uneven toasting toaster dies - just outside warranty of course, I'm searching around and come across the Daewoo. OK.. looks intersting, like the looks and the avoidance of the tiny, v thin metal elements in most toasters, actually the elements look more like a GRILL! Intrigued. OK it's £30 lets give it a go. Arrives, (very quickly) put it on for 5 mins to burn in the elements. Then...Made a slice of toast.. WHAT? Halleluia! Magnifico! Excelente! Joy and Celebration! TOAST NIRVANA PERFECTION!! 50 years of toasting quests have been satisfied. Thankyou Daewoo - you geniuses! As you can probably tell I would recommend this toaster. In brief: Stylish good looks. Well made and finished Fits bread Makes REALLY GOOD toast Comparable to grill toast Its NOT SLOW - toast in under two mins. Actually OK to clean (for toasters) I note a couple of other reviewers have not had quite the same experience as me - this may be due to a faulty unit and I would recommend getting it replaced so you can enjoy a working model. My other recommendation for all 'toasties' out there is to hit the buy button.

This toaster is superb. I've used it every day for four years and it's the best toaster I've owned. I've never needed a four-slice toaster and I don't eat ready-sliced bread but the large single slot of this model (260mm x 45mm/10.5"x 1.75") happily accommodates two thick slices at a time or a single long, thick doorstep which I occasionally saw off an artisan loaf. The glass front allows you to keep an eye on how the toast is doing and, although I always turn toast halfway through anyway, I've never burned toast yet. The crumb tray is easy to remove and clean as is the internal glass panel which keeps the outer glass panel cool. The stainless steel and black finish matches my kitchen and is also easy to clean. My toaster is still going strong after four years. Unfortunately I broke the internal glass panel last week so I bought this same toaster again but my first toaster still works perfectly well so I'll keep this new one as a spare for when my original does come to the end of the road. I'm sure the new one will last as long as my current toaster.

This toaster features a window that allows you to check the toaster progress. In reality it is a little difficult to actually see what is going on, so it is more like a gimmick. The toaster works well, it is able to toast any kind of bread just fine. It does not heat up as quickly as those with wired heater elements, and there is no audible sound when toasting is done. The bread pops up, but typically it stays within the machine. This is ok, as the bread will not cool down as quickly. It can be tricky to pick up the bread, as the lever does not allow you to lift it up further. This is a pity. I have not tried the re-heat or defrost function yet. Overall we are happy with it.

Without doubt the best toaster i’ve ever seen or owned. Not only does this toaster ooze quality from every angle, it also delivers faultless service with perfection. The toast is heated via radiant tubes which give a complete even toasting across the entire slice, plus you have the added bonus of being able to observe the progress via the glass window panel on the side. The finish, build, and design are manufactured to a very good standard and the glass panel can even be drawn out from the bottom to allow easy cleaning. Basically you depress the plastic handle situated in the base of the toaster to release the locking catch, and the panel drops down to allow you to slide it out, it’s just so well thought out. The controls are easy to set and use, plus there’s a stop button to allow the toast to be flipped up whenever you feel it’s done to your satisfaction. The toast is crisp and even with no patchy area’s or burnt corners. Overall it’s so brilliant that I also ordered the Daewoo Kettle to compliment it, with quality this good, I just know the kettle is going to be a winner too. I can’t recommend it highly enough, invest a few extra bob to get a real winner of a product, you’ll be glad you did.

Looks great in the kitchen, it toasts very evenly and is faster than my old one. The browning adjustment is fully analog not just 8 different settings so it can be set up “just so”. Being able to visually monitor progress is really useful. It does indeed toast evenly, my old one always toasted one side of the bread more than the other… not this one. Well worth the money.

It is truly the most awful toaster I have ever had. Positives: 1. Glass panel Negatives: 1. It’s HUGE! Granted I should have checked the measurements before buying, but I sort of expected it to be an average toaster size, it’s way bigger. 2. Mega-slow. Was replacing my old toaster which was starting taking ages to toast a piece of bread due to its age. This new toaster was taking even longer! 3. Inconsistent result - after ruining half of bread loaf, I had finally given up. On the same setting it was coming first underdone, then overdone, really annoying. Also leaving bits of toast completely white while other bits burnt. Literally every piece was different and you have to stand there staring at it waiting for the toast to get to the right condition. I have no time for that. 4. Misshapen toast - I the metal bits were not gripping the bread properly, leaving lots of space and so during the toasting process the bread sags slightly causing wonky toast and the inconsistent toast I described above. This could be actually due to the particular toaster I had: upon close inspection I realised that the metal bits were not coming together consistently: wider on one side and narrower on the other. I used medium sliced store bought bread. Conclusion: this toaster is absolutely awful and the glass panel alone is not worth it.

This is a great, smart looking toaster which does what I want admirably. Other reviews complain of uneven toasting, etc., I have not found that - in fact, I get excellent, evenly browned toast every time and I can see progress through the glass. This is my 2nd one of these toasters - unfortunately a family member thought they could put cheese on toast straight into the slot sideways on. The cheese fell off and melted onto the glass and other places. Having taken the toaster apart, I realised that it is not easily repairable and I had to write the toaster off.

This toaster is definitely a “looks over longevity” situation. The glass front panel looks very cool and it’s actually quite fun at first being able to watch your toast browning in real time, and it does have a nice modern vibe compared to a normal toaster. For the first couple of months it did an okay job and was a bit of a conversation piece in the kitchen. Then one of the heating elements just gave up. That meant one side of the bread was barely toasted while the other side was normal, so you constantly had to flip and re‑toast things to get an even result, which defeats the whole point of having a toaster. I ended up keeping it around for a while as a quirky gadget more than an actual daily‑use appliance, and eventually just passed it on to a friend who didn’t mind its “personality”.
