Breville VTT702 Impressions 4-Slice Toaster with High-Lift and Wide Slots, Cream

Toaster worked well for 18months. However, yesterday instead of toasting it caught fire. My 5yr old daughter saw the flames first and called my attention to it, very luckily I was able to unplug and take it outside before it really caught fire with flames over 2ft in height. Melted flaming plastic ruined the floor in 2 rooms and the kitchen worktop. Was mine an isolated incident?

Owned this product for less than a month and the left hand lever to push toast down has failed. It is now a 2 slice toaster. Not happy at all. The customer support is requiring me to post the product back to the manufacturer, which I am not amused about.Update: second replacement has just sparked and fired out electrical burning smell, now completely dead. Very dangerous. Deeply concerning. Only had this toaster 9 months.

** Decided to return this toaster as I discovered another design issue. In addition to the flaw described below both pairs of slot pop up at the same time every time. So, if you have put toast into the primary slots and then after a minute decide to use the secondary slots, both the primary and secondary pop up when the primary slots timer expires.At this point you need to move your toast from the secondary slots to the primary slots as the secondary slots no longer work!!! lolWhat idiot designed this device...I like this toaster but it includes a strange design quirk whereby you must always use the pair of slots on the right side of the toaster first.You can’t simply load slices of bread in the left pair, they just won’t work.So, this is going to result in slots to 3 & 4 getting hammered with use and slots 1 & 2 remaining relatively new.It also means that anyone new to the toaster will also experience problems and will need a little training.I just don’t get it...If I could be bothered I’d send it back but I can’t. I will make a mental note to avoid Breville toasters in the new future.Cossy

It hasn't even lasted 3 months!!! Look cheap when it arrived and has a lip around the top edge which means all the breadcrumbs collect at the top, making it hard to clean. Also, despite the toast settings going to 9 if you put it over 2 - it will burn the toast. Still, despite all this, it hasn't even lasted 3 months. It has just shorted out and no longer works. Perhaps this one is a dud and we were unlucky but not worth taking the risk. Total waste of money and plastic. DO NOT BUY THIS TOASTER!

I HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN ANYTHING MORE RIDICULOUS!!!!! I hope the designer of this model got sacked. 😡Thought at first, it's a bit silly that the slots are numbered - oh well. Till I discovered you can't use nr2 unless nr1 is in use. Whatever. Only to then discover that if I make my toast in morning and my partner walks in 30sec later to make his - they both pop out at the same time 😵 what the hell!!!!! And just to top it off one of the bottom corners of toast burnt while top was still white. (That's in nr1 slot. Never got to find out about nr2 slot. It never got as far as ready.)😕 It's ridiculous to get angry about a small kitchen appliance. But that's the end of Breville items in my house.

I am really pleased with this toaster. It toasts evenly and very quickly. The only thing I think is a bit strange, is the fact that you have to use the right hand side first. The left hand side slots don’t go down unless the right side ones are activated first. This means that the toaster will be unevenly worn down as we don’t often make 4 slices at once. I’m supposing that once the right hand side is worn out the toaster can’t be used anymore. My last toaster, when the one side suddenly broke down, at least we could continue using the other half. Apart from that the toaster really is good.

Love my white toaster. Looks really stylish. Works fine and love that you can pull the slice up to check how you’re toast is doing without cancelling or starting again.

Excellent quality, colour, price and delivery. I ordered the toaster and kettle together as they were such good value (they were like a BOGOF offer). The slots in the toaster are extra wide so that bagels, crumpets and extra thick slices of bread can be toasted easily. Would recommend.
