East Coast Nursery Essential Spot Changing Mat (Blue)

Excellent - easy to clean, good size and a nice colour

So pleased with the price and quality of the east coast changing mats

For the first six months we just used our travel changing mat that came with the changing bag - we've always changed our son on the nursery floor (comfy carpet, washable rug for 'showers'), so the fact that it was just a thin bit of wadding between two semi-waterproof layers didn't really bother us. Then my son learnt to roll over at six months (which was shortly followed by crawling!) and would shove his feet down against the mat so we ended up with it being crinkled up under his bum/ disappearing off to the side/ shooting down between his feet.Getting this mat pretty much solved all of our changing problems (still working on stopping him from crawling away sans nappy, even if it is with a truly adorable burble!). Given what we were used to, I personally don't find this mat too thin and actually thought it was quite thickly padded when I got it out of the packaging! The lip around the edge has been useful for discouraging him from 'walking' himself upwards so that his head hangs off the mat. It's also truly waterproof (which my last one wasn't) so makes cleaning up after messy bums really easy. I bought two - one for us and one for his grandparents' house. I've been using it for about three months and it's holding up well - no cracking of the plastic etc. I'd quite happily recommend this and for the price you can't really go wrong.

When it arrived I was surprised that it was quite a bit smaller than normal changing mats. I hadn't bothered to check the measurements as I thought all changing mats were pretty standard but this one seems a fair bit narrower. What really bothers me about it though is that after only a couple of months I had to chuck it. When I'm not using my changing mat I stand it upright on its end and tuck it behind a chest of drawers to save space. After only a few weeks the material had split and the foam was coming out and after a couple more weeks the whole bottom of the mat was torn open like a dog had got at it. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but it's not like it's being knocked around to justify it splitting open. The previous changing mat I had lasted almost three years and didn't split open at all even though it was stored exactly the same way.I originally brought this one as it was a bit cheaper than others but I think you must get what you pay for.

For the price you pay , this changing mat is AMAZING. I have a changing table but I felt it was easier to change him on this , either on the floor or my bed or anywhere I needed to move him. It's soft and easy to clean . I also noticed my newborn would fall asleep on this . It ca also be used as a cheaper version of the sleepyhead pod . It's very similar and has the same affect on the baby when sleeping , as they seem to feel comfortable on this and it's quite snug. So Yh good purchase for sure . My baby is 6 months old now and I'm still using it to change his nappy on

Original review: Good product, cheap cheerful & does the job6 months on; Didn’t last long but I guess I knew it was cheap. For what it is we ended up getting a better one & to be honest it’s worth spending that bit extra. It did the job but if you can then get a better one

Very happy, didnt want to spend a lot of money on a nappy changer but still wanted a nice one and this one was nice as well as pretty cheap.Only thing is its a bit narrower and longer than I thought it would be, so it doesnt fit the standard nappy changing table shape of the ikea changing table we got. But you can just about squish it in there, it means theres a little room either side but its not really a problem. The retailer does have the measurements on show so its not a fault of theirs, I just assumed it would be the standard size.

Ripped after a few months and had to be replaced. Considering how many times you use a changing mat they should be able to last a while.
