Lost Ocean: An Inky Adventure & Colouring Book

Very nice book with veautiful illustrations. An ideal present

Beautiful colouring book that I bought as a present and for an amazing price! Mine came without the main cover as I chose it for a lower price from Amazon outlet, however the inside cover is beautiful and already great as is, so it didn't affect the quality of the present at all. A delight to look at and lots of fun, with a game you can play inside. Definitely recommend these colouring books as the person I bought this for already owns another also by Johanna Basford - they're great fun (even for adults) and take you back to your childhood! A real stress-reliever, you can concentrat on something other than whatever's on your mind for just a minute. You might be surprised at how much you enjoy this (if you're an adult). Obviously it would be wonderful for any child as a gift.

This is my third book of Johanna's - the paper is excellent quality, the drawings are intricate and it is a pleasure to sit and decide on a colour scheme fo each picture! Everything is beautiful from the covers to the story to follow and animals to find.

I’ve bought a few of Johanna’s books now and find that each book has had differing quality of paper and it seems ‘pot luck’ with what you get. I use coloured pencils, mainly Polychromos, Luminance and Prismacolour in all my colouring and found that Enchanted Forest was in particular, very poor for those, as it was hard to build any vibrancy or layers as the paper was just too smooth. It made colouring a chore. However, with this book, it’s perfect again, like her recent ‘Rooms of Wonder’ and ‘Worlds of Wonder’. Brighter white and with a very slight tooth. It makes colouring with pencils far more enjoyable. Her illustrations in this book also have the hand drawn quality which one or two of the very early books didn’t have. I’m pleased with this one.

Very happy with my purchase. The book is as good as new. Not a mark in it. Always makes me happy when I can reuse items. I shall look forward to spending time colouring in.

A simply gorgeous book. The paper and print quality in Johanna's books are always of a high standard and this book is no different. The paper is slightly off white and very smooth, it takes a small amount of water if using watercolour pencils although will start to crinkle if you use too much so better to stick with dry mediums if you want to colour every picture. I find that the images in this book are more detailed than those in Enchanted Forest so it is best suited to coloured pencils or fineliners. The printing is double sided so if alcohol markers are your thing you will need to choose which image you prefer. Also the images go all the way into the spine making removing the pages tricky (but there will probably be an artists edition soon for that). The range of images covers all sorts of subjects, for example fish, mermaids, jelly fish, whales and shells.

When I saw this book on Amazon, my eyes immediately glowed. I was so intrigued to get so I bought it. It came amazingly quick and in great condition. I was so eager to investigate so I flipped through the magical book right away. I was in shock, the book was so magical and I felt as if I was really in there. The pages were so beautiful and detailed, personally I recommend this to everyone who is patient and loved colouring small shapes, thank you for ready, this book changed my life.

I do not know how to describe this book. This was my first adult colouring book. Johanna opened to me a new world that did not exist before. This is difficult to describe. Lost ocean ticks both boxes - the drive to create and colour and my deep seated love for sea and ocean. The themes in this book are simple magical. Her drawing stile is remarkably kind and genuine, which you do not find in other colouring books for adults. You can feel that it was drawn with love. I cannot devote much time to colouring and several years later I am still doing this book and I am still in love with it.

The colouring book is really good and takes to me somewhere else

Se vi piace colorare o anche solo ammirare gli splendidi disegni di questa autrice oppure copiarli, questo libro fa per voi. Ricco di dettagli, pirati, sirene, pesci multiformi e tesori. Un magico carosello di fantasiosi e minuziosi particolari, belli anche solo per guardarli. Insomma Johanna Basford è a tutti gli effetti una pietra miliare nell'arte dei disegni antistress. Che però, a mio parere, antistress non sono.

ça n'a pas été simple mais j'ai réussi trouver ce cahier car ma fille voulais des mandalas sur le thème de la mer... Il est super, les dessins sont beaux, pour certains avec énormément de détails ce qui garantit des heures de coloriage sans problème (certains mandalas nécessitent beaucoup de patience / minutie). Ma fille l'adore et ne l'a toujours pas terminé !

This book has beautiful drawings about the ocean, fish, turtles, treasures, jellyfish... I'm really happy with this purchase and will definitely look more into the author's work.
