A Very good book indeed, I've been generous with 5 stars, as there were a few parts I feel the author is slightly out on, but the basic premise of this book is brilliant. A couple of quotes from the book to consider. This statement by Alan Greenspan in 1966 should ring alarm bells for us all.“In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. If there were, the government would have to make its holding illegal, as was done in the case of gold. If everyone decided, for example, to convert all his bank deposits to silver or copper or any other good, and thereafter declined to accept checks as payment for goods, bank deposits would lose their purchasing power and government-created bank credit would be worthless as a claim on goods. The financial policy of the welfare state requires that there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves. This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists’ tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. A thoroughly enjoyable and most instructive book on so many important contemporary topics including the global economy and the urgent need for a new global currency to replace the debt laden dollar. The radical solution Willem beleives global policymakers ae busily colluding to foist upon an usnsuspecting world will surprise and shock most readers. Willem's book is also a most useful historic reference book that has been written in a very readable and entertaining format. I have read several books in recent years on global debt and gold and this is undoubtedly one of the very best.

This is excellent. Insightful and beautifully researched. Willem has insights into the geopolitical nuances, of which China plays a central role. I’ve been a gold bug for 24 years, yet I still learned plenty.
