Superb Quality
These coloured pencils really are worth the extra money over cheaper options. This is my second set of these pencils and I couldn't be happier with the purchases. Presentation The Pencils just look premium as soon as you see them or pick them up. They come in a metal tin, giving beautiful presentation and a professional look. Quality The quality of the pencils is of a very high standard, when you move up from buying Caryola coloured pencils to these, you can really see why they cost that little bit extra. The pencils also sharpen very well, I haven't had any breaks in the lead. Usage The pencils are Polychromos - for those of you who aren't massively 'into' art and different types of pencils, this basically means they are blendable. They produce very vivid colours - even more so when colours are added on top of one another to produce layers making the colour stand out on the page. I would highly recommend these pencils to anyone looking for a more professional or quality set. The range of colours provided is sufficient for a beginner like me.

Confidence Boost
Now I have decided my new colouring hobby is here to stay it is time to splash out on some top quality pencils. After much research, I have narrowed my search down to 2 choices. I will try a small box of each. The first is this box of 12 Faber-Castell polychromes. Not sure if I can add anything to all the previous reviews, but they are really lovely pencils to use. It surprised me how much better my colouring looked in my practice book. I wasn't using one of the really beautiful books I have, but a book with simple pictures to practice techniques yet my efforts were so much better than I have previously managed, thanks to these great pencils. I was able to create so many colours from this small set, the pencils were beautifully smooth and easy to blend and layer. As a comparative beginner to colouring, I did wonder if I would bother with expensive pencils as I am no artistic expert, just someone who always really enjoyed colouring as a child: tried it again as a relaxing hobby and found I love it just as much as when I was little. Having read many colourists reviews, watched plenty of YouTube demos I thought i would see if better quality pencils would make much of a difference, and am amazed at the outcome. These 12 pencils have improved my results so much and have given me an enormous boost of confidence. I was worried my efforts would not do my beautiful books justice, but this is no longer the case. I have no problem in thoroughly recommending these pencils, and don't believe that for me at least, others will beat them, but will try another manufacturers small set just to see.

The absolute best on the market.
Bought as an eye opener for my granddaughter. In my opinion the absolute best colour pencil on the market. I own all the big three and the Polychromos still get my vote. Love em and even better since the pack of new colours has been released.

Better than prismacolour, last longer
These 12 pencils are great for the price, they are an oil based pencil and they lay down colour amazingly They sharpen to a fine point and blend really well, I actually prefer these to the prismacolour premier pencils, although you do need to use these a little differently to normal wax pencils, because they are oil based they slide on easily on the page so you do need to go in very lightly and add layers My only issue with these was the colour range in the 12 set, the colours are very light, the light green is almost florescent I definately recommend getting the 12 set first if you're thinking of trying these pencils instead of buying the full set or a larger set, they're not for everyone and it does take awhile to get used to them after using wax pencils

Expensive but worth it
I bought these pencils for my daughter who was studying design for GCSE, which involved a lot of sketching and shading of drawings. I could see the difference when she started using these for shading - the colours are strong and clean, and they colour smoothly and evenly - and she said they were so much nicer to use than cheap pencils, and made it much easier to produce neat, evenly coloured designs. I don't know if this would make a difference to her grade in itself, but it did mean she was happier to spend time working on her designs, better motivated, and she felt more satisfied with the finished sketches. The pencils colour smoothly, can be blended but don't smudge as long as you're careful, and the leads can be sharpened easily without breaking too often. The tin is attractive and practical for school, protecting the pencils without taking up too much space. These pencils are expensive, but for an artist or older child who will look after them, well worth the extra money.

Value for money
All though more expensive , and more than I've ever paid for 12 crayons! I am delighted with them all the same, and will buy them again in the future. The tin comes with a good range of colors, including white and black. The points are quite thick but easily thinned with an emery board nail file, or sand paper to save wastage! They are smooth and blend well and make new colors when used on top of each other. I especially enjoy using them on top of water colors to enhance details. There are more colors to get and will certainly be buying a larger range when I can afford it.

Fantastic Pencils
I purchased the tin of 12 colours to see if these pencils were as good as everyone says before parting with a lot of money for the full set. I shouldn't have worried, they are brilliant. Depending how hard you press, the colours can either be very soft and gentle or full on bright and colourful. There are a good range of colours in this small tin, and as with most good quality pencils the colours can be blended to create an infinite variety of shades and tones. The coverage is good and I have found that I don't get the typical pencil lines you can get with cheaper pencils when colouring, especially when you colour in small circles. They are in a totally different league to children's colouring pencils and I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys adult colouring, which is the reason I purchased them. I have now purchased the tin of 120 colours and am delighted with them. Following my recommendations a further two full sets have been purchased by other family members.

Love 'em
Great Product, absolutely love using these pencils, especially because they aren't as soft as my caran d'ache set and so are great for the details bits and so work really well in unison with my other colour pencil sets!

Simplemente geniales

Hard to not fall in love with this set
Exceedingly vibrant and versatile pigments, tough and durable leads, and lend themselves beautifully to mixed media experiments. I don't like using erasers most of the time, but they still erase smoothly and cleanly. The colour range might feel restrictive at first glance in this set of 12, but there's actually a lot of room for colour mixing, layering, and shading. It's quite competent with any form and weight of (white) paper (haven't tried this with toned paper yet), laying down the same uniform texture and no loss of pigment. I'd recommend this to anyone, no question about it.
