Good
Good, although finding it impossible to get a yellow colour as shown on the card for 0ppm. Took a water sample to the local fish shop and they tested it (they also use this kit) and it was the same - just a hint of green and I've heard that other people have found the same thing. He said the ammonia levels were fine and there can be a little bit of green even if its 0ppm so not sure if there is some ammonia in the tank or its just the test kit. But the reading has been consistent for several months even before I added the fish and nitrite is 0ppm. Tap water also had a slight green hint when I tested it as a comparison.

Testing times
Tests just great still using although close to expiry date. I also cross test these an they are spot on

Great
Accurate and easy to use. Just a word of warning - at zero the solution can sometimes still look slightly greenish rather than the pure yellow shown on the card. If you're not sure it's worth testing some fresh tap water for comparison. It's exactly the same as the ammonia test included in the API Master Test Kit. The Master Test Kit is better value for money than buying individual tests like this, but these are useful if you've just run out of one test solution and don't need to buy a complete new kit.

Need to train my eyes for the colours
This product really works well for me. Iโm new to fish keeping, as I saw no ammonia change in my aquarium, I naturally thought I broken the cycle. On top of that I found it hard to pinpoint a colour match. But then I chose to err on the side of caution. This really put my mind at ease. As I was using test strips before and it didnโt have ammonia test for some reason.
User
Good product.. Little costly
This is a good product to use when you are new to the hobby. Product is little costly but may be worth the price.

Consistently high quality
API test kits are very reliable. This is a great buy for when you need to restock the master test kit, I like that it includes a test tube.

Excellent economical test kit with limited capability
I worked in three pet shops as a teen and later managed the salt water department in a very large pet shop in Philadelphia. I have kept fish since I was five years old but have been on hiatus for the past 20 years and not had any tanks. These kits have been around for ages and are very accurate if you use them for their true intended purpose; freshwater community tanks or similar. Don't try and use the nitrite or ammonia for saltwater tanks of any sort (even though the kits say the can do salt water, they donโt do it well). Don't use the pH test kit for tanks that need exact pH values for high pH animals like cichlids (though this is less of a problem if you read below). These tests are extremely economical and provide many more tests per dollar than any other kits available. My son is six and my daughter is four. We decided to raise tadpoles twice this year and needed to monitor ammonia, nitrite, and pH. The 40-ish year old design of these kits still fit that bill perfectly and were exactly what we needed. I wish the scale on the pH kit went higher, but it goes high enough for community fish. Tadpoles here tend to like higher pH values of ~8.2 and the pH kit doesn't go that high. However, I got a rough enough estimate if the pH test indicated that the pH was off the chart high as water isn't going to go much above 8.2 unless you use chemicals inappropriately to alter ph.Ammonia and nitrite test kits worked perfectly as in the past and averted many potential tadpole disasters and crying children. We've kept snails, clams, some minnows, and loads of plants in the tank while the tadpoles have developed so the bio load was always changing.Still great kits even after 40 years at a very affordable price.Highly recommended for their intended usage scenario.
