I have black hair with red tint from henna but want to get brown hair.. How? Will it work with henna and indigo?

Hi it took me months until I got this right and this is my tip , henna ur hair on its own don't use indigo wash and dry then put indigo on ur hair leave on for half an hour to an hour or keep checking ur hair u will see how dark it's getting around the roots of u don't want it too dark only leave on for fifteen minutes or so then wash out with shampoo and condition as normal , then next time say two or three washes later as indigo washes out quickly u can just top up the roots and hairline with indigo , this works perfectly every time and u save money by not buying so much henna by just doing ur roots with indigo 

I have ordered my pack of henna and indigo. Do I need to dry my hair after rinsing the henna or can I apply indigo directly after without drying?

I mix henna and indigo together, 50/50 ratio.  My hair is around 50% grey and is naturally a chestnut colour.  This mix turns my hair a dark auburn with they turning dark copper.  Hope this information is useful to someone.

My hair is dark brown. I want an auburnish tone but dont want my hair to go darker. Do i use amla or indigo powder too? If so how?

Hi, you can use both. Here is the ratio:
Henna: 1 part
Amla is a conditioning agent: 1 part
Indigo : 2 parts..
Best is you soak henna and amla for 6 to 10 hours and indigo mix in fairly hot water.  Let it stand for 20 mins..keep it warm over saucepan of hot water. Mix henna,indigo and amla together and apply to your hair while its warm. Wrap your hair with cling film and keep it warm for at least for  3 hours..

I am loving my hair with this henna but need to put a temporary brown over it in October... Has anybody had any problems using normal dyes on top?

I do not know for sure. Are you thinking of using a temporary brown dye? I would search the Long Hair Community forums online, there is much information there. Henna can be difficult to predict with regards to outcome in colour and condition, so please make sure you do a strand test before you commit your whole head to it. Harvest some hair from your brush, or snip a small amount from the back of your hair, and apply the dye. Wait the appropriate amount of time, then wash and dry. Hopefully, you will like the result. Also, as with any hair dye, you should make a skin patch safety test, the instructions for which will be in  the box dye. Good luck
