Philips Avent Microwave Steam Sterilizer for Baby Bottles, Pacifiers, Cups and More (model SCF281/02)

Only reviewing now as I finished using bottles. Used it for over a year and can honestly say it was one of the best purchases I brought. Being one of the less expensive sterilisers it does the job fantasticly! Easy to use and clean, I used this steriliser with my tommme tippee bottles and the fit well. Kept the bottles clean sterilised and looking like new. Also for in my microwave which is on the smaller side! Worth the money! Better than those massive sterilisers in my opinion.

This steam steriliser has been a life saver when I've needed to sterilise breast pump parts. The design is sleek, it looks pricier than its actual price tag, and there's plenty of space and slots to sterilise all pump parts in one go. All you do is to fill the base with 200mls of water, slot everything into the basket and stick the steriliser in the microwave oven. Note the length of time required in the microwave oven depends on the wattage of your oven. Takes 4 minutes for us with a 900W oven. I used a youtube video for instructions on how to use as I wasn't sure what the various slots in the basket were for initially & once I'd watched the video, I found the steriliser very simple to use.

I was planning on getting one of those electric models that can be plugged in to the wall socket. But then I read that those ones require some sort of anti-scaling measures. After using the Philips Avent for almost two months I know what they mean. The continuous boiling of water inside the steriliser creates some sort of dry scales on the walls of the base unit. This needs a soap wash once in two days. It could have been a real pain to clean this off of an electric steriliser. Though there are ways to clean them up, the cleaning materials are not readily available here in Sweden. And I think its not worth the effort. I am glad I chose the passive one. The unit is quite big and it fits just right into my microwave oven. If you have a smaller-than-usual oven, I would recommend to check out the size before buying it. I had done this earlier for mine. The manufacturer spec says that the contents on the steriliser remain safe for upto 12 hours if box is not opened. I wouldn't count on that argument. The container is not air tight (well, you can t make them to be air tight since you have to boil water inside them). I don't think the claim of 12 hours is valid. Anyway I am happy with the product and am using it quite extensively.

After needing to switch to formula feed, I was presented with the ordeal of having to sterilize bottles on a daily basis rather than the occasion. As it turns out, my mother made boiling bottles to sterilize them sound easier than it actually is, and we didn't have the budget for an electric sterilizer. Since we already had a microwave, I opted for the Avent Microwave Sterilizer - let me tell you, after using this, I wouldn't bother order anything different even if money was no issue. You simply wash and rinse your bottles, put things in the allotted spaces (which are marked for you, or you can use the guide in the booklet... or heck - common sense works, too), pour in 200ml of water (personally, I use freshly boiled water for this, as our microwave is low-power and it would take an extra few minutes to get it to boiling point, while our kettle only takes 30 seconds or so), clip the lid shut, and pop it in for a few minutes (follow the guidelines in the booklet). I particularly appreciate the little tongs (which I sterilize along with the bottles each time), which mean that I don't need to touch the teats with my fingers to reassemble the bottles, and I can do everything while only touching the outer-parts of the bottle. We have very, very hard water, and unlike boiling in a pan or using a chemical sterilizing solution, this leaves no residue on the equipment afterwards. It's also fabulous value for money, and the delivery time was just a few days from the dispatch in the UK, to my address in Eastern Europe.

I bought this to have at my parents house after changing from tommee tippee bottles to the avent range. Firstly, it was an amazing price at only £10, I was really pleased as some of the other microwave sterilizers are double that. It is really compact and fits lots of bottles and other accessories without a problem. It can be stored in the microwave which saves worktop space too. It is easy to assemble and use and sterilizes in 4/6 minutes. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is because I had read a review online that said it also fits tommee tippee bottles - it does, but they don't fit in the rack securely. However, we have swapped to avent as their products are (in my opinion)better than the tommee tippee equivalents. An all round good product - would recommend!

Yes people are saying it doesn't fit in their microwave so you will need to check that first. I've got one of the combi microwaves that grills, oven cooks etc as well so it is rather large in terms of most microwaves! This steriliser fits in no problems. I bought this when it was £6 (including delivery) yes including delivery, well for that I thought I may as well try it. I've had two of the big avent steam sterilisers with my last two children and they were fine. The times it says it takes to sterilise on the big one were a little off the mark and I found myself waiting sometimes much longer, which when you have a crying baby can seem like forever! But this time I was planning on successful breast feeding and didn't want to spend £60 on the big steam one. When I saw this one on amazon for £6 I jumped at the chance to experiment. So glad I did.... It says 4 minutes and that's how long it takes. Ok it's not as big and only fits 4 bottles and not 6 but I cannot sing enough praises for this compact little gem!

Wenn man vorher überprüft, ob sie auch in die schon vorhandene Microwelle passt, ist sie ein perfekter Begleiter und eine tägliche Hilfe beim sterilisieren aller Babyutensilien.

This is really good buy if you have a microwave you do not need an electric, this one can fit 4 small size bottles or 2 big ones I am very happy with it, 2 and it’s done. I had used steriliser packets before but that needs to be changed every 20 washes and was more expensive and would not fit everything together. With this I can sterilise as many times I want
