Inexpensive and reliable gate closer
I fitted this inexpensive but effective spring gate closer between the side edge of an iron gate and the hinge post using 4 self tapping screws after drilling suitable holes slightly smaller than the screw thread. The gate tension is a little awkward to set correctly, but once done it is reliable and effective. The gate has reliably closed since, keeping our dog and small people safely and securely in the garden

Simple and does the job
Easy to fit just walloped a load of grease on it so it doesn't squeek and rust working well.

Lasted less than one week
Very poor product, the peg used for tensioning does not fit tightly and therefore pops out (I had to use a bolt instead). The ends do not fit straight within the spring and performance is variable, sometimes it closes sometimes not. Would not recommend.Update, less than one week of use and the spring has now detached from its mount at one end rendering it completely useless. Will now have to purchase an alternative, waste of money.

OK but the adjustment peg flew out
Upon initial inspection the adjustment peg appeared to be a poor fit to the adjustment holes. A bit short and sloppy. Nevertheless, fitting to my garden gate was straightforward. Adjusting the spring to allow the gate to close properly when opened a short distance was straightforward. Then I tried opening the gate a little past 90 degrees – and the peg flew out, disappearing in the undergrowth never to be seen again. So, I drilled out the appropriate adjustment hole to around double the original depth, cut a new peg from the adjustment bar and refitted to the gate. All now appears to be OK. However, why should I need to make such modifications? Alas and example of sloppy design and manufacture.

Gate users need safety glasses!
I purchased two of these springs, and they initially appeared to be doing a good job on a pair of garden gates. However, after a couple of months the moveable metal lug popped out on one of the closers as the gate was being opened, flew through the air and disappeared. I've since cut up a nail to make a replacement lug, but it must be possible to design a device that does the same job without the possibility of flying lugs. Manufacturers need to go back to the drawing board.

Instructions would be nice
It works now its on but as someone who's never put one on before some instructions would of been nice and the bar to alter the spring tension was a bit fiddly but on the whole does a good job

what's most important to you?, I like Borat.
what did you like dislike?, what did you use the product for?I liked the springiness, I didn't like fitting it, coz there where no instructions. I used the product to fit the flux capacitor to the micro mechanical slam panel.

The tension can be set so easily
Nothing to dislike. I had one of these type of springs on my gate when I was a child. It’s works so well and is easy to install and set up.
