Are the fans quiet? Eg. The one I have now, I can hear the fans in another room. It is driving me nuts. Need replacing with one that won't wake me!

Yes they are, even with 3 or 2 of them. Often my laptop fans overlap the sound of both 2/3 fans.

Can I use this for a 17.3 inch msi laptop? Thanks

I don't know specifically about that laptop, but it works fine for my 17" HP pavilion DV7, which had massive problems with shutting down due to overheating prior to using this cooler. Works fine now though.

Can i use the wall socket to supply the power to run the device instead of using my laptop battery via usb? thanks

Hi i can confirm this fan connects only by usb to computer it has no extra socket for a charging port. So wouldn't work with charger.
