I was looking for an external microphone to use on my DSLR, as I do a lot of content creation work and wanted something to record the environment we work in. The space we share can be quite loud sometimes, especially during our creation, this is why I loved the decibel (DB) setting on the microphone. You can adjust it between -10(my favourite setting), 0 and +20 decibels. -10 is perfect for me as it eliminates a lot of the unnecessary noise within the room and with the microphone set to directional rather than open, this really works a charm. I’d highly recommend this microphone, especially for use in large or open environments as it has the options available to cope with this. It also works brilliants in smaller and quieter environment. You will not be disappointed with the great audio quality.

Rode is the safe choice when it comes to audio-recording. Almost everybody in the industry seems to be using these at the moment. I bought this to replace my Rode Videomic GO, which was a brilliant add-on until I really needed crisp sound with low background noise. I had a small issue in which I could not work out why the microphone would not turn on, as I thought the battery was proprietary and included, no where suggested or stated that it would require one square battery. Thankfully I had one closeby, and after a short battle with the foam and the battery door, the battery was inserted. the +20db gain switch was appreciated, and almost always required with both a Canon 750D, and a Lumix GH4R. Only once being dropped to regular levels for a loud music event. I have seen and used some of the more budget shotgun style microphones, but the sensitivity, brand reliability and overall build quality of this microphone really drives home the classic saying "You get what you pay for". Definitely worth every penny, and if the product is ever on offer, it would only increase it's value.

Bought this as the previous video mic I had ordered wasn't compatible. So far I have found that the microphone is excellent quality in audio and also physically, I've had it years and I haven't had any issues with it, still working as good as when I first bought it!

It has very good sound indeed - I use it with my Nikon DSLR on a tripod. As is well documented on YouTube reviews, to avoid hissing sounds you need to use the Rode's 20db setting and turn your camera's mic gain down - I have mine set to 7 which is about half way on a Nikon. The sound picks up really well and is very clear when I'm making YouTube videos. The other thing I found is that it's better to have the microphone mounted on a bracket and not on the camera hotshoe - this is to avoid the mic picking up autofocus noise from the lens motor. You could always turn off autofocus I guess but brackets are so cheap to buy on Amazon you might as well do that. You don't get much in the box but then you don't need much - it's a microphone at the end of the day. But a very very good one.

When we are concentrating on visuals and framing, it's easy to forget about the sound. Yet poor sound quality is often the reason we stop watching a video. Even so, I didn't believed how big a difference an external mic would make until I plugged this into my DSLR. I decided to go with the Rode after hours of research. While watching Andyax demonstrate the mic on YouTube I was sold and I've not regretted the purchase. It has transformed the sound quality on my videos. It is a must-have for your DSLR and worth every penny considering the edge it gives to videos. I also have the Rode lav mic as well to give me some options when filming. I use Canon and to get the best results I switched the in-camera sound to manual and turned down the levels. I switched the Rode mic to +20 and that got rid of the hissing that some people have complained about. I can't claim credit for this fix, I got it from Andyax. Cheers guys.

What may not be immediately obvious is how small this microphone really is. It fits in my palm, yet it produces level of audio that compete with thousand $ microphones. It might take a while to get the hang-of it, and depending on how you set it up you do have to have a very sound-controlled environment, but under the right conditions it performs superbly. Pros: - Cheap - Performs at professional level Cons: Battery is a fiddle to get in sometimes

not great, the actual mount piece is stuck so had to buy an additional piece to be able to mount it to the camera

Non ho ancora avuto modo di provare il microfono in esterna ma almeno in ambienti chiusi risolve egregiamente il problema dell'eco per la voce nelle stanze grandi. Tuttavia non isola bene i suoni intorno. Se ad esempio mettete una tv lateralmente, anche a basso volume, si sentirà perfettamente. In strada sicuramente funzionerà meglio tagliando le giuste frequenze dei disturbi. Scomodo anche l'alloggio della batteria. Ma una volta messa dura veramente moltissimo. Il suono cosi come viene registrato ha una punta in più di toni bassi ed è eccellente, specialmente se equalizzato in post produzione. Nel complesso consigliato.
