It,s a very good cooler (fridge)
I got this cooler this morning put some ice blocks in there turned it on and put some cold drinks in there,,the blocks are still iced and the drinks are very cold, yes there is a humming noise from the fans but if you have had a cooler before you expect that, it is not that loud even if it was, to keep your drinks and food cold i think it,s worth it as i said not that loud at all, i have spent that little extra on this one still less than £100 but usually i get the ones around £50/60 they are ok to keep them cool but by spending that extra i now have cold and when camping it does make a difference and instead of keep having to pop to the camp shop to refreeze the ice blocks, as a camper i would definitly recommend it to have an ice cold beer.

Great fridge for camping
I have only used this fridge once, on a three night camping trip where we had Electric Hook Up (EHU). The day time temperatures averaged 32 degrees. The unit keeps the fridge 20 degrees below ambient temperature which meant that for much of the trip the fridge was operating at 12 degrees. However, as soon as the temperature dropped, it chilled brilliantly which meant each morning we had cold drinks, milk and food etc. We had a really hot summer (2018) and obviously this is not the fault of the manufacturer - but I honestly wish I had paid the £200 or so more, to buy a higher spec model which has the capacity to cool 30 degrees below. However, at the time of purchase I couldn't afford the dearer model. I improvised by placing a fan on the unit during the daytime which cooled the ambient temperature a little. PROS: split lid, exceptional build quality of Dometic, easy to use, easy to clean, smart looking CONS: none - it performed exactly as it said in its instructions.

Well made effective cooler.
I bought the cooler for my camper van. It’s just the right size and takes 2 litre bottles upright. The 12/240volt means it cools on the move and on site with a mains hookup. Even with no power is a great cool box. The wheels mean easy moving . Fan is a bit noisy though.

Most impressed - First eclectic cool box i've brought
I decided we are now camping enough to maybe invest in a little more comfort.. OMG, where have i been when it comes to EHU .. What a difference if only for an electric cool box. Some reviews suggested i start the box up before i left home so it was at temp. I place a bag of ice in it on a Friday afternoon before leaving and then the food/drink i want.. Reference the ice i pour some away Sunday when i return even though i was using some of it with my G&T/soft drinks...It was an ideal size for the two of us over the weekend although all tightly packed, everything is kept very cool. Even whilst we were camping in the UK there was in a heat wave 27/28 degrees and therefore hotter in the tent during the day, it worked perfectly. The ice does take up some room but very useful, its Simple to use.. easy to clean out once home, minimal noise whilst on during the night so not disturbed (We put it in ECO mode during this time). Would certainly recommend. Update nearly 4 years on.. Still using this and still working 100% .. we roll it out about 10 times a year and have no complaints.

Waeco W40 coolbox
This arrived on time and was very carefully packaged. The coolbox itself is excellent. We used it with our caravan this summer keeping it in the awning where it can plug into an exterior socket. There is a slight whirring noise when it is on full power but not so noticeable, this can be reduced by putting it on the economy setting. Its performance was impressive so doubling the space for storing milk, cream and other dairy products, so much so that we now use it at home on occasions when having friends in, or a party. It will actually fit between the bench seats and under the table over the drawers in the caravan if not using the awning and plugs nicely into the 12volt system.

Made by Dometic so should be reliable.
I got this for many occasions really but specifically when towing my folding camper, as, you cannot get in the fridge when it is folded. So I decided to get this to pre cool and travel in the boot. It would hold milks and provisions for a couple of days. I could also use it in the awning to chill beer etc. The bonus for me is the ability to use on mains and 12vdc also to turn down the power of the unit by a dial in the lid, this only works on 230v apparently, I assume this would only be of advantage when the unit is already cooled. You can also use this unit tipped on its end using the dividers as shelves. My only criticism as has been mentioned is, the handles are free to flap about, it would have been good if they had clips to hold them stowed. Not sure if the wheels would be of use, I cant see anyone needing to wheel this unit far? My other main reason for buying this unit rather than any other is the make, Dometic have been going for many years producing fridges for the leisure trade. So currently using it in France in the awning full of drink. You have to remember this is Not like a fridge in that it removes heat from the interior, it uses the peltier effect, look it up, so it wafts cool air at up to 20’c lower than outside, inside the unit, it does work but it takes some hours. The beauty on 230v is you can reduce the speed of the fan to a quiet trickle overnight. It will always depend on the ambient temp as per the peltier effect, so if it’s 40’c it won’t go below 20’c etc but generally in the uk it should work well. In the awning full of drink it’s not going to chill loads of beers quick, but overnight it will catch up and next day you will have cold beers. On 12vdc fan runs flat out.
