Masterplug WPJB Outdoor Weatherproof Junction Box, 5 Pole Terminal Block, IP66 Rated, Grey

Solid, well built, weatherproof, been holding up well outdoors for spotlight installation.

I needed an outdoor junction box as I have 4 cables coming out of wall, both electrical and network to go into a trunk underground. The box is absolutely the right size, not too big to look ugly and not too small that becomes tight inside for the number of cables/junctions I have. For my use it is the right size. It provides good options for cable entry through back, which what I needed. It is well marked, I used a drill to drill the right size hole in the back to allow all my cables in, I added a grommet myself (not included), then exit through 2 glands at the bottom. Worth noting that the 5 entry points (1 on top, 1 on each side and 2 on bottom do not require drilling, you can just push them out, only the back required using a drill). Everything worked well, no cracks no problem.

The box itself is very good, decent quality plastic, press-out knockouts (the one on the back is drill-out but that's fair), shrouded drain holes, grommets supplied for all fixing entries. It doesn't come with glands, but if you expected it to you should probably have called a sparky to do the job for you (especially as plenty of outdoor electrical jobs are in-scope for Part P). That said, the box I recieved was supplied with Masterplug rather than British General branding. BG and Masterplug are part of the same company/group, but in my experience the BG branded items are very high quality and mostly sold by trade suppliers, whereas Masterplug is the brand you'd find on the cheapest made-in-China extension lead in the Tesco homeware aisle. If I'd have known this, I might have shopped around first. All in it's great for the price, but the branding is worth bearing in mind if you were going to pay a premium for British General.

Excellent product - robust and water tight. Good instructions. Feels well made.

This is a very well-made tough plastic Junction Box with easy-access removable front cover. The holes for electrical cable glands are formed merely by pushing out the replaceable covers. An ideal weather proof junction Box and good VFM.

As described, good quality, needed for outside use so very useful no metal parts to rust.

Easy to open and close with a 1/4 turn of the 4 locking screws. It works well. Exactly what I wanted.

Good knockout holes to all sides and easy rust free lid locking method. BG brand not Masterplug as advertised.
