Wife loved it!
My wife loves Lego kits, and as a Star Wars fan her eyes lit up when she saw the BB-8 model in a shop. It's not as big as the R2-D2 model she built a few years ago, but she enjoyed it just as much. All in all, it took her a few afternoons to build, but if you put your mind to it you could do it in a couple of hours or so, but like me she prefers to take her time, do a bit of the build, then put it away when she starts to get a bit tired or makes mistakes. The finished model is nicely detailed and rests on a display stand. The head rotates and moves forwards and backwards, and although the base doesn't rotate for obvious reasons if you turn one of the panels on one side a hatch opens on BB-8's front and a rod appears, with a blue plastic flame on the end, mirroring the amusing "thumbs up" moment in "The Force Awakens". The finished model stands about 26cm tall and 16cm or so wide, and the display stand adds an extra 10cm or so to the width. A very enjoyable build, and the finished product looks great too.

Another Quality Lego Build
As you would expect from Lego excellent quality.I bought this for my daughters 10th Birthday, she had already completed the Millennium Falcon and the First Order Star Destroyer so I was looking for something a bit more challenging for her. After shopping I decided on the BB-8 Robot as this has a 10 – 16 age rating. She completed this within a day with no problems. Even though she completed this in good time, she thoroughly enjoyed the building process and was proud of the finished look. Personally I think this item could have its age rating lowered to reflect the build difficulty. The finished item looks great, with a moveable head and pop out welding torch, stand with a little description plate.Quality product that looks great, fun to build. Would definitely recommend this to any Lego fan.

Lovely looking collector edition BB8, great build, fun too.
This BB8 Lego set build a large BB8 model , with a collectors stand and attached mini figure.I got this after a price drop and it has been fantastic value. Took a good few hours here and there and was a lot of fun.The finished model has a head that wobbles and fully rotates (controlled from a spinner on the left side) and front hatch that opens and from which a torch opens out to mimick the "thumbs up" gesture from The Force Awakens. It makes for a fun model, great when the relatives kids around , and looks great on display.

Really interesting and fun build. Model has great character
I love BB8 in the films, so decided to splash out and buy this model, and I have to say I'm really impressed. The build was really interesting to make and I spead it out over a few afternoons (maybe 5-6 hours in total) though you could complete it much quicker. What made this model especially interesting was the internal mechanisms. Two of the side panels can be turned - one which brings out his lighter (like in The Force Awakens) and another to turn his head. I was a little concerned about the head gear system when I put it together as it was a bit stiff, but by the time it was completed all seemed to work great. To add even more character, they have also made the head sways back and forth which helps to recreate how it moves in the film. The instructions were fairly clear. A couple of times it told you to add 6 bricks ar once, but only showed you 1 of the locations so you had to play spot the difference with the pictures to find out where to place the other 5. I certainly wouldn't let a younger child assemble it without supervision unless they are experienced with other Lego models. Lego were also smart enough to colour code the 4 sides inside the model, so you could always tell where the front and back was.The model comes with the stand (which I'm not a huge fan of) but it rests well on the bottom of the model so I will just put the stand to one side. If I had to fault it in any way, I would say that it would be nice if the lighter door closed when you retracted the lighter, and the head could have done with a bit more detail, but that's being really nitpicky. For the record, I bought this when the price had dropped to £65 and I feel that was value for money. At £80 I would say it's a tad expensive, but it depends how much you enjoy BB8 and Lego.

Great set
I missed out on the UCS R2D2 set a few years ago and i have been kicking myself since. As soon as i saw this i knew i had to have it!The build was enjoyable and the and the insides are very impressive. The way the head works is great, there is an elastic band included in the build to give the head a wobble effect like in the movies. I also love the "thumbs up".The finished model looks great on my shelf and is a good enough size, i like that is has the UCS plaque but a little dissapointed it is not officially UCS.Overall for the cost i think its well worth the money (in lego terms) and would recommend to any star wars or lego fan.

Nice addiction to the collection
A very nice kit overall, does justice for BB8 but I feel the price for it is a little steep compared to over LEGO kits but if you want something as a collector this it’s the perfect lay out, comes with a little information stand so it’s ready for the showcase. A Fun build we a few nice features, just a shame the robot arm that comes out from the middle doesn’t retract back in.

I'm told it was brilliant
Right, this wasn't for me so what I put here is exactly what I've been told...."brilliant, brilliant, brilliant". We've had the Yellow Submarine and a couple of Star Wars/Star Trek bits. All great, but this one was "brilliant!!!" You get the drift. I was out when the building work was done, and it took the best part of an afternoon, but I think an enjoyable afternoon, for him and the cats. Instructions easy to follow, nothing lost in the process. Over all and obviously money well spent.

Really good set .
I don't think I could ever give Lego 5 stars for being value for money because its so expensive but this came close. My daughter is 11 and found it reasonably tricky, she got near the end then figured out half of it was the wrong way round so had to rework it. It looks fantastic finished and it moves and the front bit opens. My daughter has it pride of place on her bookshelf, it even comes with a stand.
