Rain-X Rain Repellent - Superior Visibility & Water Repellency - 200ml

Okay, so i have been using this product for about 4 months now and have got got to say that it works tremendously well. the water beads off the car to where you dont need the wipers at all! i like to put 1 coat on and keep it moving so it does not dry like a liquid,, but i will apply and keep it moving until it hazes up. i leave for 10 mins then buff off and then do another coat just to make sure i get maximum effect. i also recommend this if you are applying for the first time. also if you apply for the first time i recommend deep cleaning the windscreen using screen cleaner and then using a clay bar to remove any stuck on tar that could damage the wiper blades. and i also recommend buying a brand new decent set of wiper blades for your particular car. if you do all of this, driving in the rain will never be the same for you again i promise! also another little trick i use is to apply the Rainx to the wiper blade rubber to keep it clean. i do this at reapplication and i re apply to the windscreen once a month. so it does last about a month depending on usage. i also re clean my windscreen and as i said clean the blades with the Rainx and this works very well for me and keeps your blades lasting longer and keeps them cleaner to prevent smearing and squeaking. i also apply to the wing mirrors and the side windows to ensure i have maximum visibility in the rain and it works great! keeps the wing mirrors and windows much cleaner as the dirty water beads straight off the car. applying to the windows and wing mirrors lasts alot longer, i would say 2 months because it does not have wiper blades rubbing on it so it lasts longer. my only regret is that i wish i knew about this product sooner because it is simply that good. if i was to guess i would say you could make a bottle last 2 years if you apply every month and apply 2 coats. not bad for a fiver and for a product that really works very well! i think people have issues with smearing because they have not cleaned their windscreen wipers or not changed them out for a long time. trust me its worth buying brand new wipers and deep cleaning the windscreen with a clay bar for brilliant results! if you are driving over 40mph you dont need wipers at all! no matter how hard it is raining. great product and i will be buying again, i must admit i never gave rain visibility much thought until i had a new set of wipers and this product, i will never neglect my visibility system again!

I followed all the instructions prior to application. After applying the first 'coat' i was not impressed with the repellency, but after the second coat, it was excellent and similar to video demonstrations. It made motorway driving in the heavy rain a lot more relaxing as visibility was increased massively. Only problem I wouldn't say it lasted that long before having to reapply, although there is a lot of rain in the UK. I would use a similar product again, Yes, would i use this? I think i would test another to compare the duration of application first, but i certainly would buy it again if not better options were around.

Wing mirrors, that's what I got this for. Mine aren't heated and don't have wipers. At speed, they mostly shake off the rain, but before I can get moving fast (or if I'm in traffic) they can be totally obscured by rain or misting. Spending five minutes in (busy!) morning wiping them carefully helped, but in heavy rain that didn't work for very long. As well as being stuck behind a lorry on a motorway at 48mph terrified to overtake because you can't see, useless wing mirrors can lead to many more dangerous situations: inability to see oncoming traffic while merging onto a motorway, or hiding that poor cyclist as you make your turn. I bought this stuff more out of desperation than any real hope as I seriously thought it was only a matter of time before an accident occurred, especially with the long winter nights. I first applied it on my wing mirrors only as a test, a bit dubious about its benefits and wary about using it anywhere else. Almost immediately there was a difference; raindrops barely stuck even at rest, and at speed they were absolutely clear. No more trouble with wing mirrors. Deeply impressed, after about a week I treated all of the other windows. On side windows it's just as great: they stay almost perfectly clear even in the heaviest rain. It's the windscreen and back window where it didn't work so well. See, no repellent will ever be good enough that you don't need to use your wipers. Indeed that's where the problem begins: turns out they need a bit of water to lubricate them over the glass, and Rain X makes it all run away immediately. I found my rear wipers squeaking loudly and even juddering, potentially damaging the motor, and had to use plenty of screen wash to lubricate them occasionally until it wore off. That lasted a couple of days. And that's the second problem: screen wash. It's designed to dissolve dirt, grime, insect innards and other water-insoluble crap on your glass, so it removes Rain X. Not straight away, but it does. But all this said, I think this stuff is great and I'm going to keep buying it because I've come to rely on it. It keeps rain off and my visibility at full, prevents misting (on the outside), and prevents gritting salt residue from drying all over your window. When it's dark and pouring wet, it makes such an enormous difference it turns a terrifying gauntlet of smeared bright lights and half-blindness into an enjoyable drive again. Just don't use this for anything that has a wiper: wipers work better than any repellent, and you'll actually harm their effectiveness. Put it on any bit of glass the wipers can't reach. It gradually wears off until its effect disappears entirely. For me, the front and rear coating lasted about a week, and the other bits about 3 weeks. I re-apply it whenever it does, taking care to make sure the glass is clean first. That 200 ml goes a very long way, you barely have to use a squirt or two even for a whole application. It has now become an indispensable part of my motoring: in fact I wonder what would have happened through all these named storms in 2015 over my very long commute if I didn't have the visibility it gave me. I wouldn't go as far as say I'm still alive because of it, but I'm surely a lot less stressed.

Works ok but it doesn’t take all the rain away , it made driving in rain a bit better but its leaving like oily residue on the screen even if you followed the instruction .

When cycling I use a helmet (in fact I have several) with a removeable Perspex visor. These invariable become badly scratched over a few months of use, and research suggested Rain-X might help with protecting them. I bought the smallest bottle that I could find, gave my current visor a good clean with lukewarm water, and applied a coat of Rain-X to both sides, following the instructions on the bottle. It seems to have worked reasonably well, the scratches are less prominent and the visor is looking a clearer when worn. I think this substance would probably work better on a new visor without scratches, and next time I buy another replacement helmet I will definitely try coating it before use. As well as improving the look of the visor, it also provides a basic slippery coating, which whilst it doesn't prevent some water beading when riding in the rain, it does at least make the mud and dirt much easier to remove with the wipe of a gloved hand. Good value for around a fiver, I really didn't need to apply much to one visor so a bottle will go a long way.

Product works as expected to repel water from windows and windscreen. Small droplets will form on glass but otherwise will eventually drip downwards. I applied it on the front and back windscreens, front passenger windows and side mirrors to increase visibility during rain. It is pretty evident if you don't apply enough of the product, as the areas with less solution applied will accumulate larger drops of water before dripping away.
