Advanced Acoustics Premium Mass Loaded Vinyl Soundproofing Mat - 1.25m x 3m - 5kg/sqm - 2mm Thin

I was installing an AV room directly above a bedroom, so needed some way of reducing noise transmitted to the room below. Many of the products i looked at were designed to reduce impact noise, however this item was intended to moderate airborne noise, something it does extremely effectively. First impressions were fery good- lordy this material is dense, the rolls are unexpectedly heavy. Even as i was laying it i could hear the reduction in internal reflections, the noise i was making was very effectively damped. Laying it couldn't have been easier, i used a box cutter but any sharp knife would do. The material will take a blade at a very shallow angle, perfect for trimming small amounts to get a perfect fit. On completion i was very happy with the result that exceeded my expectations. There is now very little noise transmitted through the floor to the room below...the difference is night and day. In addition i found the vendors extremely helpful- my first consignment went missing, the chaps very kindly sent me a replacement free of charge. If i ever need something similair in future i will definitely deal with these guys again. Happy to enthusiastically recommend 👍

Outstanding delivery, very quick. Left open to allow very slight smell to dissipate ahead of fitting. No smell at all by time we fitted, to be honest it really wasn't anything to worry about anyway. Easy to use and to cut. I would get the strongest adhesive possible, we had trouble getting it to stick and used staples too. Not ideal however the staple acts as a plug in the hole made. It has made a difference however not as much as we had hoped. This is also due to the construction of the stairs we were soundproofing in a building converted from one dwelling into three decades ago. We can not access underneath the stairs which go over our neighbours. Drafts have been reduced and the stairwell is much warmer.

I installed this product in 2018 - 7 years later it's still in perfect condition and i'm considering buying more for another room. It's heavey, which is rather the point, and significantly reduces the noise in my room, which I use as a recording studio. Highly recommended. Personally i'd make this kind of product standard in every new home but I do hate noise. :)

I've bought several rolls of these acoustic mats to improve the soundproofing in my very old flat. Each roll is heavy, approx. 20kg so be careful! I covered the flooring in my main room with several of these sound mats, and used "Green Glue" ( a noiseproofing compound ) to attach them to the floor. I sealed any gaps with Acoustic Sealant. I then added a second layer of sound mats on top - again using Green Glue. If you plan on tackling a job like this, you will need help. It took about 4 of us to lift, cut to size, and glue these heavy mats to the floor. The crucial point is be sure not to leave any gaps as sound will find a way in. These sound mats have definitely made a difference, although don't expect recording studio silence! If you live in a very old building with poor ( or no ) sound insulation, you will certainly benefit from adding these mats. Ultimately though, I would recommend consulting Professional Soundproofing specialists to do the job for you. However, in the interim, these acoustic mats are a good start. * UPDATE - Having completed one room in my soundproofing work, I can report that these Acoustic Sound Mats have indeed made a significant difference. I was having problems with noisy neighbours and living above a "party flat", which had no sound insulation. Before I laid these mats I could clearly hear their conversations ( not just LOUD noise ), TV, normal day-to-day noise, footsteps across wooden flooring, etc. coming up through my floor. It was very stressful. This product has definitely dampened all but the loudest noises, and would recommend it to anyone suffering from a combination of noisy neighbours and lack of soundproofing.

Superb product. Easy to shape and fit with a Stanley knife. Tends to scar white with any contact with sharp objects or on a tight fold, but as it is supposed to be hidden behind a wall or carpet this doesn't matter. I found the scarring effect helpful when I was trying to fit it to a corner by using the creases to mark where I needed to cut. Each roll is quite heavy. I used this to sound-proof the floor along the wall I was soundproofing using a stud wall backed each side with soundproof plasterboard. I laid the matting under the floor boards over the top of roof-insulation mineral wool, wrapped the edges around the ends of the floor boards to prevent sound being transmitted through the wall along the floor boards. With just 2 rolls I was able to line the floor under the length of 3 plasterboards placed side by side, and still have enough left over from the off-cuts to place a second layer over the top of the floorboards (if you imagine a cross section of the floorboards leading up to the wall on the left hand side the matting would surround the ends of the floorboards in a C shape). Works well. Recommended.

Does the job but any kinking or bending during mounting causes tears, also extremely heavy for mounting on ceilings

I used AC50 to glue my MLV onto my semi detached bungalow (bedroom floor) for noise/vibration reduction from my neighbours (washing machine) in particular, early in the morning. Sadly neighbours don't think about things like that. It's great stuff to use and heavy-duty It did the trick for me. Sealed up any gaps around skirting and floor with the glue as well and finally papered my bedroom and I'm not sleeping in my livingroom anymore. MLV is definitely recommended, it's great value. I'm happy to say It's NOT sheer. It's 2mm thick and heavy It's easy to cut with a Stanley knife. If it's being used between sound bloc sheets, I suggest you call in some favours and get someone to help. A happy customer 😁👍

Utilizzato a parete e ricoperto con pannelli fonoassorbenti ho avuto un abbattimento del suono, verso l'esterno, notevole. Il materiale è pesantissimo e grezzo pertanto non può essere posato a vista, poi ognuno fa come meglio crede. Ci tengo a precisare che ho raggiunto ottimi risultati con il fai da te. Arrivato nei tempi giusti ed imballato ottimamente. Consigliato. Saluti
