Q: exactly how WIDE is the tape? I read reviews...some say 1" some say 1/2"!

1/2" they might be say 1" because there are two x 1/2" strips

Q: How does this product hold up to the heat? I live in AZ, and my previous strips had glue-- which leaked out into a little puddle at the bottom.

I have been using the strips for about 15-16 months already on my Subaru. They work as advertised and hold up the heat very well (up to 38 Celsius). They always look as if they were newly installed. Overall I 100% recommend this product: easy to install, durable, almost invisible, does protect door edges.

Q: Will this peel off on a hot summer day on a black car like the u shaped edging?

I have a black car and we get some hot days, and it has not been a problem.

Q: does this item come in "U" shape to fit around the edge of the door

It fits around bent corners, but there may be a small visible crease unless you physically modify the tape
