Great cookbook - clear - Concise and dead easy to follow with good photographs. (Recipe list in review)
As a mad keen home cook I have loads of cook books from all the well and not so well known chefs. I have quite a few of Jamie's and was eager to get my hands on this one! It's a typical Jamie Oliver Cookbook - nicely put together - very easy to understand - dead easy to follow the well written recipes and he provides us with a nice colour photograph of how the finished dish should look. Not that it always does in my case! Each left hand page shows you the 5 ingredients down the left side and has the nutritional info along the bottom. The right hand page is a full colour photograph of the finished dish. Really plain and easy to follow. I have already made the Asian Fried eggs which were delicious and I'm making the Nutty Kale Salad for my dinner in work tonight. If you want to see what's inside before you buy - here's a list of the dishes/recipes in order as they are presented in the book. . . . I really like this one from Jamie. It's clear, concise and very easy to follow. As somebody who grows theIr own veg I found there's loads of good veggie options in here too. Loving the egg dishes in here as well. I think I'll be buying a few for christmas for foodie freinds. Recommended.

Great recipes, quick and easy meals for those who are short of time!
Another great book from Jamie! I bought this book after watching the first few episodes of the TV series on channel 4. As usual, Amazon was the cheapest place to buy it from and I ordered it in the evening just before 8pm and received the next day with Prime! It's been quite a while since I've felt inspired to actually purchase a recipe book, but a combination of work becoming busier and going on an exclusion diet as part of allergy testing, this book presented itself at the right time. One of the foods i've been asked to exclude is wheat, which seems to be in about every pre-made sauce, meal or seasoning so it's becoming increasingly difficult to plan a variety of meals whilst cutting out a range of common ingredients. The book is very simple and easy to follow. 5 ingredients listed on the left with images, instructions alongside as well as nutritional info and a large picture on the right of the finished product. I'm not sure why, but I really didn't expect it to have as many recipes as it does - 130 in total! Classic Jamie style, nice relaxed cooking, no overly-fancy preparation, just simple, easy and delicious food. Some of the recipes aren't as quick as they would first seem (unless you're a professional chef). For example, one of my favourite recipes, the Quick Asian Fishcakes are probably quicker to make than a standard fishcake, but mincing using a chef's knife (as shown on the show and in the instructions) is not all that quick - tasted absolutely amazing though! The categorisation is quite nicely laid out too: salads, eggs, pasta, meats by type, fish rice and noodles and then sweet treats - this comes in handy if you see a joint of meat on offer and are not sure what to do with it. There are quite a few recipes that are ideal for those working long hours - nice and easy to prepare and then can be put in the oven with no more fuss. Personally, there's three recipes I am really looking forward to trying: - Harissa Chicken Traybake - Herby Chicken Traybake - Messy Meatball Buns Overall, I think this book is a real gem - for anyone struggling to think of quick and easy meals to cook (without all the 'additional' ingredients in ready meals, sauces and seasoning packs), I highly recommend this book!

A truly brilliant cook book
We ordered Jamie Oliver's 5 Ingredients cook book because we wanted to learn more recipes. We are a family of four who all love eating good and healthy food but have very little time for cooking. We started watching Jamie's 5 Ingredients cooking program on TV Paprika (in Hungary) which we enjoyed a lot. We were amazed how quickly, professionally and easily Jamie prepared his dishes. Even when we watched his show just after supper, we got hungry again by looking at his delicious looking dishes on telly. After a few series we realised that the same recipes can actually be found in one of his cook books. We instantly knew we had to order one copy. The bood arrived about two weeks ago and we have already cooked many dishes from the recipes. It is just unbelievable how well it is written, the recipes are so easy to follow. What we do now is, with the four of us, we pick 2-3 recipes from the book, write the shopping list and go out to buy the ingredients. We then have 2-3 days of peace as we don't have to think, like we used to before, what to cook for the family again. We follow the given recipe and the delicious meal is trully on the table withing like 20-30 minutes! This book spices up our days as we can now eat different delicious meals every day without spening hours in the kitchen. We also find it much more enjoyable to cook when the result is pretty much like what you see on the picture in Jamie's book or on telly. We have turned our dining room into a 5 star restaurant :-) We highly recommend this book for anyone, who has little time to cook, or has a lot of time to cook, or would like to vary the dishes home, or just starting to learn cooking. Thanks Jamie, Varga family from Hungary

5 stars for 5 ingredients!
I have a pretty sizeable recipe book collection but I think it is fair to say that in the few short weeks I have owned this book I have not cooked as many recipes as I have from '5 Ingredients' as I have from almost all my other cookbooks. These recipes are fast and simple or as the book says 'quick and easy'. I know Jamie's ethos here is that having less ingredients means that you are more likely to cook good food from scratch (as opposed to relying on ready made meals). However I almost always cook from scratch but what I love is how easy the recipes are to shop for. On the whole ingredients are cheap and I have been making lots of the recipes and my food shopping bill has been a little lower as a result. Recipes we have tried and enjoyed so far include: Easy sausage carbonara Chicken Pot pie (though added some cream as was in the mood for a creamy sauce)! Seared sesame tuna ( I could only get quite small tuna steaks and we were hungry so I added some egg noodles on the side which worked well) So easy fish curry (light and delicious - almost like a soup as sauce is thin. Good with a bit naan bread! Also quite refined so would make a nice 'posh' dinner party recipe) Epic rib eye steak (I'll be honest and say this recipe looked great until I added the jar of white beans which just made it very watery despite using a jar and not tin of beans. I would do again an keep the beans seperate as mushrooms looked great before the beans were added.) Mango rice pudding (so, so.....I wanted it to taste like Thai Mango and sticky rice but it didn't. I ended having leftovers for breakfast with extra fruit) And the absolute winner so far......Herby Chicken Traybake! I cannot tell you how good this recipe is yet is so so so simple. We have had 3 times now and it tastes like a French classic dish. The lemon peel and garlic taste amazing. A couple of times I have doubled up and made with 4 chicken legs (reserving the meat of the spare legs for a salad the next day). It is also cheap as chips to make as chicken legs are very inexpensive. Winner, winner chicken dinner :-) Tonight we are having the Flaky Pastry Pesto Chicken, tomorrow the Smoky Chorizo Salmon but there at are a least another 20 recipes I still want to try. Highly recommend watching the accompanying tv series on Channel 4 if you want to see the recipes being made and just how easy they are.

A ridiculously useable cookbook that reflects how most people actually shop and eat
This has been our most used cookbook of 2018. Perfect for quick and simple (but very tasty) evening meals after a long day when you can't face peeling garlic and chopping 6 different things but still want something home made and tasty. To be fair, many of the 'taste' elements of these meals come from shop bought pastes (curry paste, thai paste, Harissa etc) but nothing wrong with that and the meals are mainly healthy especially with the addition of a side salad or some more veg. If you are an Aldi or Lidl shopper you might struggle to find some of the sauce bases for these recipes but that aside this is a really great and above all useable book full of foolproof tasty recipes. If you are a keen meal planner this book also makes all that really easy - just 5 things to add to the online shop for each meal and half the time we already have some of them in the cupboard. It's actually quite budget conscious too because the ingredient list is so small especially if you avoid the fish or steak dishes and stick to chicken or veggie. Total gamechanger and Jamie's best book for years. You will use it again and again.

Amazing! Everyone should have this in their collection!!
Firstly, I have not watched the TV series that goes with this book. Secondly, I can cook well but standard wife/mum cooking not anything fancy because whenever I pick up a recipe book I don't have all the ingredients without a special shop that takes effort, or the correct pan/dish/whatever and I'm not really good at following instructions because I'm a bit of a rebel! I'm a busy mother of three boys and I teach high school and so time is not a luxury I have. This book was the answer to my prayers!!! Only five ingredients which I can easy shop for or already regularly buy, very easy to adapt if I don't have the correct pan and very to the point quick instructions that would take longer to ignore than follow. There are quick meals but some take a little longer (to cook, not to prepare). I've cooked something different each night for the last two weeks including things I've never tried to cook before. Everything was delicious and went down well with the family. It's ideal for a novice or a pro, I couldn't praiseor recommend this book enough. It's definitely Jamie's best book in my opinion.

Easy, Fast & FUN!
I've been cooking for more than 45 years. I am at the point in life, while I enjoy really good food I am TIRED of the work and time, so many fancy dishes require. Yet, I still want to try new things. This book was PERFECT! Each recipe only uses 5 ingredient (not the same 5 over & over) but many different ones. I am also trying new things I have not tried before. Unlike some people who have complained over slightly "different" or less common ingredients (like mango chutney) - which I found right in my local grocery store, I have not had any issues finding anything. Many if not all the recipes, are able to be prepared in 12 - 15 minutes. The other thing I LOVE that he gives the total calorie breakdown per serving, carbs, fats, sodium, etc. so if you need to know that or if you are say a diabetic, it is easy for you. The recipes are for two people, so NO leftovers! You can double the amounts, if you need to cook for say 4 people. I cannot recommend any cook book.... more highly, for fast, easy and fun meals.
