Works great! Everything included
This product works as described. It was easy to fit, although working in the loft is never fun. Everything I needed was included in the kit, making this job breeze.I read the instructions carefully and soon realised that my roof was slightly different to what was described in the instructions. I had to modify the felt arrangement a little, but still used all of the items provided. The parts appear robust and well-made, these are high-quality parts. The instructions are clear but need to be read a couple of times before starting. You will, of course, need to make a base to sit/stand on when fitting. This is not a job to do standing on the joists.I would recommend this product to anybody that needs to install an extractor vent in a loft space, avoiding the need for outside access. The entire job took me about an hour to install.

You get a lot for your money in this kit, everything you need
You get a lot for your money in this kit, everything you need. I must admit I struggled a little with just handling this in the loft, but I think that was more to do with the hot, dusty cramped conditions in our roof space. I'm an OK DIY'er and found the instructions OK... I re-read them a couple of times to ensure that I did this right, as it will involve cutting the felt but everything you do is inside, no ladders or messing around on the roof, so this was OK in the end. Took me a little bit of faffing but that was probably as much to do with me wanting to be confident before cutting, working in the loft which is not nice for small lofts and I was a little worried that I'd mess up the roof somehow. BUT it all went in, all works and vents a treat, so overall I like it for four stars... I guess if it took half hour less to fit and was even clearer on the instructions I'd have said 5 stars and given it the "love it" rating but, well... it's a roof vent, functional and practical so four stars is plenty.

This is a great option when access to the roof is difficult or you don't want a visible outlet.Instructions were clear and fitting was straight forward. In my case the roofing felt was a bit too brittle so it took a bit of extra tape to seal up but the end result is great.

Good product
I fitted this today and it is working fine. If your roof has heavyweight felt like mine it will be difficult to follow the instructions as supplied. I found I had to make two extra cuts to get the unit into place. The extra piece of weatherproof material supplied was very difficult to insert with the unit in position so I inserted it before inserting the unit . It is expensive for what you get but I guess a lot cheaper than fitting an external cowl. I fitted a one-way flap valve in the hose to prevent any back draft . Overall very pleased.

DIY Roof Vent
I am delighted with this product. I live in a listed building that could have necessitated scaffolding if a roof tile vent had to be fitted. We, as complete novices, were able to fit it in the loft, following the online demonstration, without difficulty. The electrician fitted the extractor fan and connected it easily. It seems to be working effectively.

Not for everyone
Not easy to fit if you have older inflexible membrane. Mine simply ripped apart and we ended up with a massive tear in the membrane. This meant the vent didn't even stay attached properly despite securing with the top strap. The weather proofing membrane supplied is impossible to fit because the body of the lap vent prevents us using a screwdriver to fit the batons over the membrane edge.In the end after consulting a roofer I ended up using heavy duty duct tape & pva glue to repair the membrane around the lap vent.Once fitted the flow is quite restricted and the supplied PVC flexible ducting is incredibly noisy. I replaced the ducting with aluminium ducting.I wish I had just paid the extra £60-£70 it would have cost to have a roofer fit a proper vent tile & extraction pipe which we will probably do next year anyway because of the restrictive flow.

Expensive and not that easy to fit on older sarking felts
Very difficult to fit as mentioned with older bitumen roofs. Also as another reviewer stated by the time you mess around you're better off just getting a conventional vent fitted most of the time. Quite expensive for what it is. Bought direct from the lapvent website so won't show as verified.

Easy fit piece of Kit.
Received on time. The actual principle appears sound. Easy and quick to fit. For that alone I rated it 4 stars. It is basically a piece of shaped plastic, a couple of small bits of wood, a couple of screws, a plastic strap, a hose clip and a vent hose. You pay for the convenience, not for the cost of the materials! I am sure the price will come down. For me, I paid for the convenience of not scrambling on a wet roof in the winter, rather a warm dry loft. I hope the unit proves it's worth and advertised glowing description!
