Must have item!
We are a family of 5 and I have bought several of these thermoses. I couldn’t be without them now. I have tried many alternatives on the market and they do not compare to this one. This one does not leak, it keeps the food very hot (can be extremely hot and kids need to be careful), it’s a great size to pack into lunchboxes or bags and they come in a variety of different designs/colours. They’re great for the kids to take to school so they can have a hot dinner - this is great as mine are fussy eaters and won’t entertain school lunches. We have taken them away on breaks we have had where we go out for long days. And unfortunately our children can be in hospital a lot for various health reasons - these allow me to take them a proper meal when they’re sick of cold food. They can hold a surprising amount of food. More than enough for a little child but also a decent sized adult portion. They are sturdy. They have been dropped several times by kids and they are really tough and can take it. They’re easy to wash - if you’ve had something in it that can leave a residue like curry, just boil some water and let them soak in it with some fairy liquid to get rid of the taste for next time. They are great value for money considering how long they last and how often they’re used in this family. It’s a kitchen staple we couldn’t be without now. I will definitely be repurchasing more in the future.

I now have 4 of these !!!!
I was sceptical as they are expensive for a small flask but a friend reccommended this type and, as I have tried others which are either too big for or don't keep food hot all morning, I thought I would give these a go. Initially I bought 2 of these so the children could have hot meals at school for a change without the risk of 'today's special' in the canteen being on the 'don't like' list. I always pre-heat them with boiling water at 7am for 10 mins while I heat the food and let it boil well so that I know it is as hot as i can get it. In it goes, full to the brim and lids on. The 10 year old has lunch at 12, the 14 year old at 1pm. They both report that at lunchtime(after 5 and 6 hours) the food is hot, though not burning. Pretty impressive!! (incidentally i wondered if the lid would be difficult to open but the 10 year old reports it not so... bet he wouldn't have managed it at 5 though!!) They have rapidly become my receptical of choice for reheated dinner left overs (you know those times when there is not enough bolognaise left for another dinner but too much for the bin...add some more veg and tomato sauce and lunch is made!!) Then my husband started using one to take porridge on days when i wasn't using them for the children. Then when he has to work late he dicided to take a hot lunch and a cold dinner. The tub is a smaller portion than he would normally eat but works well with a bread roll and banana with it. Then we took hot lunches for the kids on a satuday hike in the snow and they scoffed them mercilesly while we only had a flask of hot tea with our sandwiches. So i bought 2 more flasks. I find they work best with food that is slightly more liquid than normal (eg add some extra tomato sauce to bolognaise) and chopped small so there are no air gaps in the pot (use small pasta shapes and chop carrotts into dice rather than pennies!!) Our favourite 'hot pot meals' are bolognaise with space pasta (some supermarkets stock the shapes!) chicken and vegetable casserole sausage, pasta and veg in tomato sauce creamy chicken pasta sausages and baked beans soup (i tend to put in a really thick one) they are also the right size for those mug sized packets past like mugshots. Just preheat the jar, add the packet, fill with boiling water stir well and they are soft and have absorbed the water at lunchtime... handy for camping I have steered clear of rice in it... not sure about the food safety implications keeping reheated rice hot for 6 hours ??? yes thay are expensive but... It is cheaper to buy vegetables than fruit so a carrot & sweetcorn in the hot pot is a cheaper way to 5 a day in the packed lunch than an apple and grapes!! Dinner left overs are no longer wasted! If they take the place of buying school lunches and more significantly motorway service station meals they pay for themselves very quickly!!

Mostly pleased
Bought this for my daughter so that she could have hot food in her packed lunch. I give it 4 stars because it keeps 'some' food hot and 'some food not so hot...reason/explanation.. If you FILL IT UP with things like hot soup, hot pasta, hot rice..the food will remain hot. If you HALF FILL IT UP with the food mentioned above, the food remains hot/good eating temperature. If you put in things like hot sausages, hot frankfurters, hot pepperoni, hot mini sausage rolls, hot popcorn chicken.. ie hot snacky foods (which my daughter likes to eat in her lunch, she doesn't always want pasta, rice, soup..fair enough) the snacky foods will either be warm-ish or cold..because the items are not bulky (like soup/rice/pasta) the air inside doesn't stay as hot as if it were bulked out with a hot food/subtance. PREPERATION BEFORE PUTTING THE FOOD IN: POUR BOILING WATER INTO THE JAR/FLASK AND PUT THE LID ON, LEAVE FOR APPROX 20 MINS, this heats the inner metal thus your hot food isn't going into a cold flask/jar. I put the food in at approx 7.30/8am and her lunch is 11.30, soups/rice/pasta are still hot/good eating temperature when she eats them, all the snacky foods (which do not bulk the inside of the flask) are either warm-ish/luke warm or cold (even tho the inside is piping hot when the hot food goes in). I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT because it does keep food like soup/pasta/rice hot/good temp. Regarding the instructions about not soaking/immersing the lid in water in case it affects the SEAL...I have removed the seal to give it a wash, rinse, dry and put it back on without any issues, it's easy to do...just LOOK at what way the seal is on before removing it from the lid to wash it so you don't stand there thinking 'ooh how did this go on again? hehe. Overall, good product for big/bulky hot food (rice, pasta, soups) not so great for hot snacky foods.

Excellent thermos for kids! Cute stitch design
I looked and researched so many thermoses before I finally bought this one based on reviews, size and reviews. I finally decided on this one and couldnt be happier. For it's size, it packs an unbelievable amount of food. I used it myself and I managed to pack a full portion of pasta in it for myself as an adult for lunch. At the same it wont take up too much space in my child's lunch bag which was a requirement for me. Keeping the food warm - I make sure I put boiling water in the thermos and put lid on 10 minutes before I put the prepared food in. This would be sometime between 7-8am and by 1pm the food is still nice and hot. My son brought his home half eaten at 3pm and it was still luke warm then. The quality, therefore, is excellent. It's been in the dishwasher many many times and the design is staying on nicely still. The lid is a screw on. It does mean that sometimes it then seals shut too tight for my kids to open by themselves but there are always helpful adults around at school that help them. Not leakage noticed at all. Cleaning Is easy, as I said both thermoses went in the dishwasher many many times now without any distortion or damage to the functionality. Highly recommend.
