A bit expensive but works brilliantly & highly recommended
Simply Brilliant. I had the older 12v (Non-Lithium) model from 3 or 4 years ago. I t was great but the battery finally died & wouldnt hold charge. This basically the same design but is a lot more powerfull due to new 18v Lithium Battery, and a full charge lasts for a lot longer (around 15 minute). I wanted to buy this for ages, but put it off as I could really justify spending £100 which I though was a bit steep for a small hand-held vacuumm. Anyway, after a few weeks of procrastination, I DID buy it & Im glad I did. I might be expensive, but is really is very good. - The unit is lightweight, so very portable & using it is a breeze. - The flexible tube has about a 1.3m reach at full extension enabling you to get into alls kinds of nooks & crannies. - The suction is pretty powerfull & hasnt failed to suck up anything. - Very quick & easy to empty - 15 minute run time is great - I hardly ever have to charge the unit. 1 minor niggle - the previous model a had a seperate motorised brush attachement which was really usefull & used often, but they no longer make one. To sum up, A bit expensive, but works brilliantly & Highly recommended.

Black & Decker mini vac
Handy little battery operated vacuum cleaner, ideal for car / stair edges / furniture. Charges quickly via the base plate to give around 20 min of cleaning time before the battery fully discharges. Battery status is indicated by a blue LED on the side of the unit. Decent suction, and dirt is collected in the central plastic container, which is easy to open to empty and clip closed again. The central housing twists to remove the filter for replacing or cleaning (buy a spare so that you always have one clean and dry while the other is in for washing). The supplied crevice tool works well, and you can either use the cleaner configured as in the picture, or unclip the hose from around the cleaner to give more range - the unit sits neatly on your car seat while cleaning, or is light enough to hold in use. Unfortunately the other nozzle supplied (with folding brush) is not very good at all, and I have quickly replaced it with a generic 32mm round brush head (a fiver here on Amazon) that works much better. So in summary, a great little vacuum but the tools could be better.

Purchased as a car vacuum someone build a 2.0 version please.
In Brief As this vacuum saves me 5 minutes unpacking and packing 10 meters of extension lead and lugging heavy house vac it get 5 stars easy. Easy to use within a car, lighter than a house vacuum and gets to spots other vacuums just don’t. In detail The vacuum isn’t that strong, and get significantly weaker if the filter is clogged up even with fairly light use, but the cars seem to accumulate fine dust. I find I wash the filter every 3rd or 4th time I use it and I use a brush the other times. The attachment allow for cleaning the carpets and getting to some hard to reach places e.g. front foot wells. The hose help manipulate the vacuum head while cleaning and really where this tool is the best for car use. While B&D do a car version of this vac you have to plug it into the cigarette lighter, which didn’t appeal to me, plus I don't have a boot power socket. I only use the vacuum for carpets and upholstery, rubber mats. I never use it on exposed plastic or paint, a wet cloth would be better. I have never needed to discharge the battery cleaning a car. I used it to clean two cars back to back, but to be fair the cars only need a quick once over. I use the vacuum very occasionally around the house for light use, where dragging a large hover out is over kill. The vacuum isn’t that powerful. I pick up heavy items or take the mats out first and just pat them down. The price yo yos from 60 to 100 gbp, I paid 75 from Amazon warehouse and I felt it was a little overpriced, I see it is currently 99 which is OTT. I expect the next generation of this vac to have the following: Better suction, the attachments needs to get into hard to reach place like in between front seat and hand brake. A better designed filter. Fractionally lighter. An attachment that can get fine needle leaves out of the carpet. The curved plastic handle on the hose makes it a little difficult to get angle in some places, but is perfect 90% of time. It needs to be fair price and a slightly better quality.

An invaluable addition to any household, this has changed my perception of cordless Vacs - Well Done B & D!!
Well It took me ages to take the plunge on buying another cordless vacuum, after my last disastrous purchase of a Bosch Cordless vac, that's basically rubbish.I read lots and lots of reviews, had this in my basket for about a month before purchasing after reading a couple of conflicting comments.I will first start with the build quality,so far,i have not found a single issue with the build quality, nothing feels frail, the catches are robust, the way it empties is easy, its very easy to strip filter out to wash 10/10 B&D. My hobby is messy,i create mess every where, drop shavings and leaf muclh on the carpet, fish food etc, sand etc, this wonderful vacuum enables me to effortlessly clean this up instantly & easily, where as before it would be left as its a bind to go down stairs late at night & get the big dyson out & fight with its stupidly short hose! This is a dream machine for little clean ups & bigger spills like dropping a pot plant. The vacuum suction is superb,i cannot fault this for a cordless. With smaller clean ups etc you generally use the vac for 15 - 30 seconds, based on this and my intermittent usage including 1 quick car clean, this has lasted me 10 Days already and its still going strong.Obviously if you were to completely Vacuum the stairs top to bottom everyday it wouldnt last 10 days! Its surpassed my expectations on this.I also like to vac my electronic goodies to keep the dust out of them, like laptop, camera, lenses etc - this is my only gripe I really wish Black & Decker would make a round brush attachment! I love this machine, its saved me so much hassle,it makes my life easier by enabling me to be tidy as I go rather than be left with a huge cleanup.

This should be the common design for handheld vacuum cleaners!
Have been using it for three months now. This is a superb product. It's the kind of product that makes you think why all other portable vacuum cleaners shouldn't be like this. Here are my views: Pros: - The trunk makes life so easy. Can reach everywhere with precision. - Good suction, does the job. - The length of trunk allows you to easily reach corners and tight spaces that you normally cannot. - Easy on your back, as a result as you can reach more without bending too much. - Perfect for cleaning staircases. Previously had to drag a Henry up the stairs, holding the base with one hand, holding the trunk with the other, doing some acrobatics in between not to fall just to get the stairs clean; not to mention the cable running all over, things getting twisted up and all that. Now with this, it's basically walk in the park; too easy. The brush is perfect for this. Cons - There are two attachments, one long and one short with a brush. Both very useful, but only one spot is provided on the base for storage. It makes sense for there to be two. So that they can both be stored on the device in a nice and tidy way. Not a big deal, but nice to have. -Screeching loud noise, but would rather have a good suction than a quieter one. So it's ok.

It's a great size for cleaning the car and obviously much handier ...
I had bought one of these when it was on sale as a present for my father. I have tried it as well though. It's a great size for cleaning the car and obviously much handier being cordless. It's a nice design with the hose that's wrapped around the body. When you unwrap it. It's really easy cleaning the more awkward areas. While it's not as powerful as a full size vacuum or a high voltage mains powered one, it does have a decent section and is good for general tidying. It came with 2 tools, a long nozzle crevice tool and a shorter, wider one that has a brush that flips round to the front. This is great for cleaning more delicate surfaces like the tv etc. I also purchased the pet tool since my father has 2 dogs and it seems to work pretty decent. It's easy to empty, just open the side door and tip out what's been collected. It comes with a charging base that's really handy. Just sit the vacuum on making sure it's lined up with the metal contacts and it recharges showing a lit LED. One thing I didn't like was the base comes with a little separate piece that clips on the side for you to stand your unused tool in but the tool is very loose in it, it would have been better a tighter fit. Also they only supplied one but there is space to clip 2 on. Since there are 2 tools. It would have been better having space to store them both. Reliability: This was an issue... my dad had it a few months and only used it lightly a handful of times, it still looked brand new but it had stopped charging. We tried everything but it just wouldn't charge. Luckily it had the excellent amazon warranty and was returned for a replacement. So far the second is working fine and hopefully we were just unlucky with the first. Overall this is a fairly powerful, well designed little vacuum that's handy to use. Really I give it 3.5 stars and that's just because of the first one failing so quickly. If not for that I think it's a 4.5 - Fingers crossed this one has a long life but if not I shall return and update this review. Hope this was helpful if you are thinking about getting one.

Adequate, but not particularly special......
I'm finding this vacuum useful for jobs such as cleaning the car where starting to faff around with extension leads etc can make things more complicated than they need to be. Moving on to the vacuum itself, in use the suction is reasonably good, but I wouldn’t call it impressive – rated at 1700 watts I was expecting it to lift anything that wasn’t nailed to the floor; in reality it has nowhere near the suction power of a mains powered vacuum. The supplied tools seem up to the job, however, as another reviewer mentioned the ‘bristles’ on the flip out brush won't stand up to extended use as several are deformed and facing the wrong way after only a few uses. I haven’t timed the endurance from first switching on until the battery is exhausted, but it has been more than good enough to cover a mucky car interior with lots of dog hairs thrown in without any sign that the battery was running down. One thing to note is that it’s very noisy, so e.g. starting on the car at 8am on a Saturday morning may leave you in the doghouse with the neighbours. Lastly, the price – I got this model for £70; I have noticed the price bouncing around, sometimes as high as £129. I’d suggest that £70 is a reasonable asking price; I wouldn’t be prepared to pay much more for an item which is adequate, but not particularly special.
