2nd Edition S107 S107G New Version Indoor Helicopter (Red)

I originally bought one of these for my Godson, I thought it best to fit batteries to the controller and charge the heli and make sure it works before giving it to him. I was so impressed I bought one for myself! The first thing that strikes you is the quality. Most of these things are made of plastic and polystyrene - even the ones at £40+. This is all metal, with a solid plastic canopy and blades. Even the box it comes in looks good. It's so stable and easy to fly. Most others require constant input on the controls. Once you've got it hovering, you can completely let go of the controls and it'll just hang in the air. It's not long before you can have it buzzing around the room, and landing accurately on drinks coasters. Top Tips: Leave 10-15 minutes between charging and playing. Never over-charge the battery. Never run the battery completely flat. Stop as soon as it struggles to gain height. Leave 15 minutes before charging On your first flight, give it a bit of power and get about a meter above the ground. Any lower than that and you'll get 'ground effect' where the downdraught from the blades causes turbulence against the floor and makes it very unstable and either fall over or scoot across the floor. No need to touch the right hand joystick at this stage. Once it's hovering, use the trim control to straighten it if it's rotating to the left or right. After that it's just a question of playing. It's so stable that if you let go of the joystick it just stops and hovers in mid-air. It's very easy to get the hang of. If you think you're going to crash, cut the power and let it drop to the ground. If the blades are obstructed and you've got power to them, the circuit board can fry. The helicopter's so tough it's unlikely to break when it hits the ground. If it does, it's far easier to replace a broken blade than a burnt-out control unit. If it lands on its side, pick it up and put it upright. It's tempting to just give it some power to use the blades to push it back upright. It certainly works but you'll wear out the motor. Don't bother with the spares kit. It's about £6. The only thing that will realistically break is the blades. You're better off just buying a complete new helicopter for £14 and using that for parts if needed. I've had many crashes and it's still perfect. Lastly, IT'S NOT A TOY! Well, it is a toy but in the same way that a sports car is a toy - in the wrong hands they can be very dangerous. The blades on this thing spin VERY fast, and can cause a nasty cut if it hits you.

Well, I have just received this item. Got home from work to find the usual brown box sitting on my chair. Had my dinner first just to delay the suspense of what I hoped was inside. On opening the outer box, I was greeted with the lovely packaging that this toy comes in. Its a well presented box, and there it is, for all to see, through the clear plastic window. This toy(if that's what it should be called) looks awesome. In fact, you could probably leave it in the box on a shelf and it would still look awesome. If I am honest, I had done some research on this helicopter before hand, and I had found a few sites warning of fake or counterfeit products, and I was a little worried.................... This product is absolutely brilliant. Looks great, its built superbly, especially for the price of just under £15. Even though it looks robust, I was still careful taking it out the box. It comes in a box with a foam insert, tied down with a couple of ties. I opened one end and pulled on the foam insert. I noticed that it gets caught on the handle as you pull it out. So don't pull on it too much! The best thing about this helicopter is the flying. It really is brilliant. Every little move on the toggles is relayed precisely back to the helicopter. Its extremely easy to fly and will have you hooked from the moment you pick it up. I love it that much, I am going to buy another one.

We bought this for our son for his 8th Birthday. I was aware of the recommended age group for this RC toy but based of his ability and my supervision we wanted to try it out and give him his birthday wish. Overall we really can't complain too much. The price of this toy was under £18 including a pack of spares. We were a bit sceptical about a few things though. Firstly, it was coming from China and there have been quite a few cases of these toys being reproduced and branded as the same but with inferior components. This was not the case with this toy sent by "Fly Service". Googling told us what to look out for and everything we checked on the toy was legit! Secondly, we were not sure if our son would be able to control this without too much difficulty. We were quite surprised how quickly he managed to get to grips with it and how to control the toy in the air. It took a little while and there were some crashes along the way but he got to grips quickly enough. This also says a lot about the build quality because there have been no parts that have needed to be replaced after hours of crashing! The Gyro system (in my opinion) is not that sensitive and the helicopter does tend to drift forward a little on take off. This is elevated with a little pressure on the back control during take off. There is also a little wobble from time to time but that evens out as the "balance blades" (as I can them) stretch into position. Overall, this is a fab toy for a great price. The set of spares are typically under £2 so it's no massive problem if it does break which, this hasn't yet. It's obviously quite well made for what it is. It's also a lot of fun and mastering it in flight is quite rewarding as we have found out with our son. It's also a great place to start out before moving up to larger scale helicopters with extra control channels. Our son may just stay with this for a while longer yet though (we hope)!

Having been given a couple of small r/c helicopters in the past which were incredibly difficult to fly, I was quite sceptical about whether such an inexpensive model could live up to the hype. All doubts quickly vanished after its 45 minute charge and initial flight which, unlike previous helicopters, was very easy to undertake thanks to the S107G's seemingly inherent stability. No assembly required and the supplied USB charging cable can work off a PC or any source. We have happily used an Apple iPhone wall charger. The model can also be charged from the r/c handset. The helicopter has a prominent nose mounted red/blue flashing led light and seems fairly durable as it has withstood a number of crashes due to pilot's over exuberance. Spare parts packs are however also available from Amazon. One note of caution is that it is however susceptible to draughts and is best kept indoors. Flying time varies according to your use of the throttle but we seem to get a good minimum 10 minutes worth. This was such a hit that we bought another one, this time in yellow. My ten year old daughter quickly mastered how to fly it and, thanks to the built in ability to operate on either of two available channels, we happily fly both helicopters at the same time. Fantastic fun and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

After reading the reviews on the Syma 107g I decided to buy one but I was very disappointed as it was very difficult to control and I crashed it a lot.I had to buy some new part as I broke it with all the crashing , these are cheap and readily available.I had ordered another one for my daughter and when this one arrived I was amazed by the difference in flying between the 2 helicopters . After some investigation I discovered that my earlier helicopter had a faulty remote control transmitter which meant it would suddenly drop or suddenly fly up to the ceiling without touching any controls. If you buy one of these and it doesn't fly as you would imagine then send it back before you damage it as I did . They should be fairly easy to control , although drafts do affect them. Damage to parts can also affect the flying . One tip - make sure the balance bar on the top moves freely as this affects the stability and if it doesn't move freely your helicopter will swirl around like water going down a plug hole.

Bought this from one of the sellers on here that ships from China and got it for £10.98, at that price I'm not even sure how they are making any money becuase this little helicopter is amazing, I will warn you though if you buy from one of the cheaper sellers which tend to come from China mine took about 3 weeks to arrive but this is a product review and it didn't matter to me anyway. The helicopter itself is a sturdy little thing and comes with a charger that you can plug diectly into a laptop, PC or anything else with USB for that matter, my TV has a USB port and I charge it off that when my PC is off. The controller is pretty cheap looking but it is surprisingly sturdy and comfortable to hold also it was nice to find that there is no spring on the throttle control which some of the cheaper mini helicopters have which makes them harder to fly. The helicoper is so easy to fly and at £10.98 I wouldn't mind if I broke it after a few weeks, the spare parts are very cheap on here too. All said and done this is a great little helicopter for anyone who wants to have a mess about, it isn't for the budding model helicopter flyer but I think even someone who flew the big ones could appreciate how well made this is for the price.

At £12.50 delivered, I was not expecting a great product but this has far exceeded my expectations. This is an amazing little toy. I understand that fakes are very common but I have examined the toy carefully and I am 99% certain that this is a genuine item. The packaging, the quality and all the little details would certainly indicate this. The toy is nicely detailed and assembled, (this was my first surprise), the flying experience is equally good.It is wonderfully stable and very easy to manoeuvre. Flight time fully charged is about 5 minutes continuous. A few words of advice. 1. Do your first flight in a very large room or hall. You will soon master the controls and be able to fly in a much smaller space. 2. Look after the battery. Lipos are not robust and do not forgive impatience and poor handling. leave battery to cool after flight. do not over discharge (stop flying as soon as power drops) and let it cool for a few minutes after charging (about 50 minutes charge time via USB cable) To all those that have complained that there helicopters are not robust enough to survive a crash, don't be surprised. It's a minute model with small plastic parts that spin extremely fast. What do you expect? Learn to fly it first and this shouldn't be a problem. The product arrived very quickly (3 days) and was well packaged. The seller did a very good job. My only criticism is that the instructions are in Chinese. There are plenty of instructions on the internet for those that need them.

According to the packaging, the Syma S107G is an “alloy infrared remote control helicopter ” with “3.5 channel gyro system” but all you need to know is that it’s an easy-to-fly toy helicopter, tremendous fun and very inexpensive. Anything else is superfluous. In the box, there’s a helicopter, a remote control unit, a USB charging cable and few spare blades to help with the odd accident or two. The ‘copter measures about 22 cm from nose to tail, with a similar rotor diameter. If you haven’t seen these toys before, they have contra-rotating main blades which keeps the helicopter stable in the air and the rear rotor controls forwards and backwards, rather than rotation. There’s no cyclic pitch here, fortunately. The remote control unit is designed to be used with both hands. The throttle lies under the left thumb and directional control is looked after by the right, with action for forwards, backwards, rotate left and rotate right. A knurled knob in the middle of the unit adjusts the rotational trim. Six AA batteries power the handset which may seem like overkill but a small cable stored in the unit can be used to recharge the helicopter’s battery. The S107G’s battery can also be recharged via a supplied USB cable and recharging typically takes around 40 minutes. The helicopter itself is largely of metal construction, with a plastic nose-cone. After surviving a number of horrific crashes, my opinion is that the S107G is pretty sturdy, especially for the price, but it is eventually going to break. Spare rotor blades are provided in the box but as yet I’ve not had to use any of them and the included instructions suggest that a range of spares can be ordered too. A slider switch turns the ‘copter on and off, and a small charging port takes the recharging cable. Flying the helicopter is easy as long as you have some level of sensitivity and hand-eye co-ordination. With a little throttle, the helicopter will take-off and hover. Too much throttle and you’ll be hitting the ceiling. Just take it gently. Once the up-and-down has been mastered, rotating left and right will turn the helicopter on the spot. Finally forwards and backwards completes the range of motions but it’s a little trickier to master. Providing you have a sufficient space, you’ll be flying figure 8s in no time. The S107G is definitely an indoor toy as the helicopter is light and any wind will overpower it. My attempts to fly the S107G outside usually ended up with the chopper in the hedge. Even within a room, flying close to walls and ceilings will affect the flight from reflected air currents, making it much more challenging to fly. Overall the ‘copter is very easy to fly and control, especially in a larger room and in terms of flight time, you’ll get a little over five minutes of flying before a recharge is needed. But this is all irrelevant. All you need to know is that flying the S107G is easy and enormous fun. My daughter and I had a great time with my helicopter chasing her remote control car round a room, or rescuing Lego people from an imaginary disaster. Indulge your inner Airwolf.
